The Big Sky Alpha novel Chapter 113

  1. When animals attack

COLT POV

Alpha Harland, do you enjoy hunting?I asked Freya’s father.

I’ve only gone a few times, when I was younger. I’m afraid I’ve allowed the city life to ruin me.He laughed.

Well, we’ve been blessed with a rare chance to hunt a grizzly. Would you like to go with us?I asked.

That sounds invigorating, I would love to. Well, if it’s not too much of a hassle. He said trying to not impose.

We’re doing an early morning hunt. Before the sun is up.I said smiling.

So, like 5?He asked.

I laughed, I have no clue Apps. We don’t generally go by time like that since we don’t have watches or clocks.I said. I can send one of the guys to your hut before we’re ready to leave.I added.

I’m not really sure why, but having him join this hunt makes me happy.

It wasn’t even my idea to have him come with us, it was Freya.

After she killed that deer, and ate the heart I wanted her so bad in that moment. I couldn’t help myself. She wanted me too. Something about watching her power through eating the heart and

the excitement she has for hitting him just set a fire in me.

I can wholeheartedly say I’ve never made love besides a kill before, Burt something tells me it

won’t be my last time. She’s talking about going out again.

But first, she thinks this party hunt for the grizzly will be good for her father.

She seems to have the same thoughts as me. I’ve been trying to get them all out of this city life mentality when they’re here. Damon loves it, he never really favored the city life, said it takes the

manhood out of the man. Harland seems like he’d really enjoy this life if he’d just allow himself to

live it.

I’m not a believer that city life is harmless to wolves. City life adapts too many human. characteristics. Makes it so they all lose touch with their inner wolves.

I run with Max all the time, I am more comfortable in my wolf than most wolves are comfortable

admitting that they’re wolves these days.

It’s hard to watch, but I get these little chances sometimes and I think that the minor things that bring out our manhood is why Harland keeps coming back. I think that’s why Freya asked me to

Our hunt started early, just as promised. Ash went by and woke up Harland so he could join us.

Damn Alpha, when you say early you really mean early. He said with a very tired laugh.

I laughed and handed him a cup of coffee, Blame the animals, they’re the early risers.

As we headed out on our party hunt something just didn’t feel right, I had a weird feeling that I

couldn’t quite figure out.

I have Levi, Ash, two other gammas, and Harland. The big party could have a potential drawback

with the amount of sound we’ll all let off but a bear kill is dangerous and comes with a lot of risk.

Having more of us is more safe for us.

It took maybe an hour to find signs of the bear to track. We found it because one of my gammas

stepped in scat, he said it was warm. So, we at least know we’re close and he has to deal with that gross feeling.

I’m not surprised that it’s in this area, this is about where Freya and I saw it. I think up until that

point some of them were thinking I was pulling their legs but now that they saw the size of that

pile they’re understanding fully what I mean.

The scent is stronger, it’s close to us. We spread out a little bit so we might be able to see it better.

No one could see it, but the scent was telling us it was right here.

After yesterday I knew it camouflaged very well so looked around and inspected every little bush

around us that I could see.

That feeling crept up on me again. I looked around behind us, above us in the trees, I still couldn’t

see him.

At this point we’re in a bit of a circle spread out. It’s just beginning to get light out showing us more

of what’s around us.

It looked like a tree that began moving, and I yelled out just in time for one of my gammas to turn

and come face to face with a large grizzly. He was obviously not as prepared as some of us were.

No knife in hand, only his bow and no arrow.

He yelped just as the bear clawed him, knocking him to the ground. The rest of us rushed over, but

none of us were on the bear’s radar. It came down on all fours just over my warrior, Josh. We all

began chiming in, trying to get the bear off him. Stabbing, shooting with arrows, punching it in the face, nothing worked.

He bit down over his head and shoulders, yells and crunches of the bones filled the silence of the cold fall morning.

The bear kept biting and clawing, the crunching and screaming mixing in with the other guys

yelling and the bear growling. I jumped in the bear’s back, digging my blade down in its neck and between the shoulders. I finally got its attention. Levi jumped in on the side and Harland on the other digging their blades into itsits neck and slicing as much as they could.

Ash rushed to assess Josh’s injuries with the aide of the other gamma.

Final the bear began to drop. We continued our slashing into the bear until it finally dropped and stopped breathing.

Immediately I jumped off the beat and ran to Josh’s side, followed by Levi and Harland. Levi quickly linked Sasha and a few others to help with the bear and our warrior.

I went to tell him, but I could tell he was linked when I looked at him and just thanked him for being on top of it.

It’s bad Alpha. He needs serious help. I can’t stop the bleeding.Ash said.

Josh’s breathing sounded rough, like someone was sitting on top of him.

We weren’t far from the pack lines. A couple guards jumped down the trees to help in any way they could. We knew Josh needed to be moved where he could be properly assessed and cleaned if needed.

When we tried to move him the breathing got worse so I ordered everyone to stop.

Sasha jumped down next to me and placed her head to his bloody and ripped up chest.

Don’t move him!@ she yelled as she lifted her head. She dug through her bag and began pulling

out all sorts of tools.

He grunted and yelled and screamed, after a moment he passed out. What seemed like hours later, but was probably only ten or fifteen minutes, Sasha stood and gave permission to move him. slightly into a board and carry him back to pack grounds.

I don’t think he will make it Alpha, but if he has any chance he has to go to the city. She told me. I nodded and the crew knew what they needed to do Now, just pray he makes it to the city.
