COLT POV
I ran back to the battle as fast as I could. The vamps just kept coming in waves, it felt like they were never going to end. I couldn’t help but worry about Freya, but I could still feel her. As long as I can feel her, she will be okay.
Once I began fighting again, I began feeling like we might actually win this damn thing. All this
panic and worry over this inevitable battle and we might actually all get to walk away from this.
My optimism was briefly interrupted when I realized the shield went down. I could feel that Freya
was getting weaker. She must not have been able to hold it up any longer. I looked around and
realized that some of the vamps were also beginning to realize that the shield was down.
This began to cause a small panic in the pack. The bears didn’t seem to give a rat’s a*s all the
same, but the wolves were beginning to worry given that all it takes is a vamp bite to kill us. It
won’t kill us immediately, but it will kill us all the same.
That panic appeared to fade after a few moments, as soon as everyone figured out that the dust
was still working, they just kept fighting. This fighting was much less confident though. We began losing people quickly and the waves of vamps kept flooding in.
“Where’s Freya, Alpha?” Ash ran over to ask.
“She was injured. She’s with Harland, he’s healing her.” I answered, swinging my sword to take the
head off a vamp I came up behind in that moment.
Ash ripped his sword through another neck, and it got stuck, he realized he needed another one
just as I did. These swords work for taking the heads off the bastards, but the bones still dull them
after a while. I’ve had to switch swords too during this battle.
I looked around and found one on the ground next to me. I grabbed it and tossed it over to him. As
the gurgling sounds from the vamp began to turn into the spitting of blood, he caught the fresh sword and finished separating his head from the body.
“Must have been a bad injury if the shield is down.” Ash said as he turned and headed towards a
small group of vamps teaming up on Koda.
I headed over to help Bjorn, the vamps seem to be focusing more on the bears by going after them in groups. They don’t have as many concerns about the vamps as we have, and they’re much bigger than we are so obviously they’re a clear threat to the blood suckers.
It only took a few more moments and the shield was back up. I could Freya was still much too

weak to do a shield, she was actually feeling more and more weak creating more of a concern for
fighting.
“Freya must be okay!” Ash yelled out to me, we were a good ten feet apart fighting our own groups of vamps, but he knew I could hear him through the pretty consistent battle cries.
I knew it wasn’t Freya; it must have been Harland. I began to get the feeling that Freya might not be coming back to this fight. I tried to push that thought back and focus on the fighting.
However, the weaker Freya felt, the weaker the shield was getting. Some weapons were still getting through the shield from time to time. There was a point I thought the shield was gone again completely, but it wasn’t.
Yet.
It was clear that something was going on with Freya. I could only assume the shield was getting weaker because Harland was focusing more on the healing.
“Alpha!” Levi ran up to me. “Where’s Freya? What’s wrong with the shield?”
O
“She’s with Harland, he’s healing her. She was injured.” I answered him. I looked around at my pack fighting. The waves of vamps just kept coming and coming. It felt like we’d been fighting for hours at this point, though I’m sure it’s only been maybe one.
“We might have to finish this without the shield.” I admitted to him “Just help me make sure our
people are okay.”
Levi nodded his head to me and turned to go back to the area he was fighting in. Ash heard me too, he nodded and turned to continue fighting and focused on trying to help the ones who seemed to be struggling the most, which is exactly what I was doing.
After a while I was so completely covered in blood I couldn’t tell if any of it was even mine. I was having a hard time feeling Freya, I could feel she was still with me, but I couldn’t feel her strength.
The battle was beginning to spill more wolf blood than I thought we’d be seeing when this started. I kept helping everyone I could. I noticed Damon was doing the same, without me even telling him it was needed. That’s the Alpha in him.
Keegan was fighting beside Damon, doing his best to help as well. It was clear that we had all the strongest helping those that needed it most. It wasn’t stopping the bloodshed though.
‘I began to really worry about how this battle was turning. I started thinking of how to get everyone out of here. How do I get everyone safe? I can’t get everyone to the bunker without exposing the location of it to the vamps.

Just as I was feeling like all of the hope was absolutely lost, I saw a large shadow zoom over my head. It startled me, but when I looked up, I felt the hope flood right back through my body.
The shadow startled everyone, vamps, bears, and wolves alike.
I knew what that shadow was though.
As I watched the giant white owl soar overhead, I knew we were going to make it through this
battle after all.
I ran toward another group of vamps and kept fighting. She swooped down and grabbed a couple vamps with her talons, biting their heads clean off and tossing the bodies back down on top of
more vamps.
“Welcome back!” I yelled out to her, slashing at a blood sucker.
“I could never allow my favorites to die by the hands of these yamps.” She hooted back to me,
continuing to pick up vamps.
