“What the hell are you doing here?” I said with all the excitement I could.

“Apparently you found your mate as soon as you arrived!” she laughed, “Your dad sent Luke to come get me as soon as he found out.”

“Why did he do that?” I asked, I’m so happy he did!

My eyes caught Colt’s, he was leaning against the railing of the staircase smiling at us.

“Oh Jessi!” I brought her closer to Colt and he stood upright, “This is Alpha Colt, my mate.” Even I was surprised that I introduced him as my mate.

“Hello Jessi. Welcome to Big Sky.” he said shaking her hand. “Unfortunately, I haven’t given Freya a chance to tell me about you yet. I’m glad you’re here though, I’ll have my beta get your room ready so you can stay here at the pack house.”

“Thank you Alpha.” she said giving me the eyes like ph check this out.

Colt’s eyes clouded over, I could tell he was mind linking with someone, probably Levi his beta.

I brought Jessi to sit with me on the couch in front of the fireplace that wasn’t lit. We were talking about how that guy from work was married and she wished she could just find a good guy, it’s only been 3 days since I saw her so it’s not like we needed to catch up much.

She was telling me about the hike up here with Luke when she froze.

“Jessi what’s wrong?” I asked as I grabbed her hand.

“Freya babe, we should head to our room.” Colt said in a very amused tone.

I looked over at him and saw that Levi was standing there also frozen just staring at her.

“They’re mates.” Stella told me.

Then it clicked, they needed space.

“Good night Jessi.” I said as she turned and smiled when she saw him.

I walked over to Colt and we turned and walked to our room together.

“Is he a good man?” I asked Colt, feeling concerned for my best friend.

“I trust that man with the lives of my unborn children, Freya. Not to mention my whole pack.” he chuckled” so yeah I’d say he’s a great man.”

That made me feel a little better.

“Thank you for letting her stay here, but I’m sure she’ll be staying with him.” I said, sitting on the bed taking my shoes off.

“He lives on the other staircase across the house. You’ll be plenty close to her.” he sat on his side of the bed watching me.

“Can I help you, Alpha?” I said sarcastically since I could feel him staring at me.

He laughed, “Just admiring you. You’ve been smiling a lot today, it makes me happy.” he got up and went into the bathroom.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot since this afternoon’s haze. I undressed completely while he was in the bathroom. I wanted to lay on the bed and wait for him but he came out of the bathroom as I turned around.

I guess this will have to work.

He died in his tracks and eyes my body up and down. A hunger appeared in his eyes. He closed his eyes a quick moment and shook his head like he was stopping a thought, but I didn’t want him to stop it.

I walked over to him and grabbed the button on his jeans and began to unbutton them. He placed his hands on mine.

“W-what are you doing?” he hesitantly asked.

“I want you, Colt.” I said, completely sure of my decision.

“I don’t want to lose my virginity during a haze, and you’re my mate.” he sighed after I said that so I quickly added “I’m not just doing this because of the haze, Colt. I want you. I’ve thought a lot about this.” I removed his hands from mine and continued undoing his jeans.

“Freya…” he breathed out.

“Is this not okay?” I looked up at him and asked.

“I just don’t want it to be because of the haze. I’m going to hate myself for it later if you regret it.” he lifted my chin so I kept looking at him, “I don’t want you to hate the first time you’re with me.”

I smiled at him and brought my hands up around his neck and kissed him. “I want this, I want you. I still have concerns but my concerns are few and things I can handle.” I kissed him again. “I prayed to the moon goddess for a sign that I was making the right choice and then my best friend shows up and is magically mated to your beta!” I giggled,” don’t think signs get more clear than that, Colt.” I kissed him a third time then let go.

I walked backwards to the bed and sat down scooting myself back a little and laying back using my finger to tell him to come here. “Now, show me what my Alpha can do.”

His lips curled to a smile and his eyes flooded with hunger and something else I couldn’t quite figure out.

“As you wish, Freya.” and he crawled up to me on the bed until his lips met mine.
