Colt jumped up and tackled Aiden to the ground. He wrapped Aiden in his legs, Colt had Aiden in a hold and you could hear Aiden’s grunts turn into yells as his arm snapped.
Colt then flipped Aiden around and got on top of him, throwing punches and elbows again. Aiden brought his arm up to try pushing Colt off of him, but he wasn’t strong enough.
“I was going to let you live, but then you tried to rape her. Now I know you’ll never stop until you’ve got her and I would die before I let that happen. So I will kill you today, my brother.” Colt wrapped his hand around Aiden’s neck and clenched down.
Aiden gasped for air and tried to take Colt’s hand off his neck, but it wasn’t working. I went to turn away but my mom stopped me.
“He needs you to watch, Freya. You’re his Luna now. You need to accept his kills.” she whispered. I kept watching. The more I watched and the closer Aiden came to death I could feel pride. Was it mine? Is this what she meant?
Aiden’s body became limp. The bell rang, Colt had won.
I just watched my mate take another man’s life. I’ve never watched someone die before, I know people die in the ring all the time, but I’ve never really watched these battles before. I’ve never been in battle before. My first brush with death was watching my mate kill his own brother in battle for not only his pack but for me.
I felt pride in knowing my mate was strong, powerful, and devoted as an alpha and a mate. He knelt there next to Aiden. All of Big Sky took a knee, so I followed suit. My father whispered to me.
“They’re praying to the moon goddess for the life he’s just claimed.” he signaled to me to do the same.
So I bowed my head while on my knees and I prayed that maybe he could find the happiness he was desperately seeking in the afterlife.
When Colt stood and left the ring he came down to me and wrapped me in his arms and kissed me. He kissed me with intense passion that left me wishing we were back in our room.
“Thank you, my Luna.” he smiled and then turned and shook my father’s hand. I looked over at my mom, I’m not sure why he was thanking me.
“You watched, you accepted his kill. He felt it and I’m not sure why the Goddess wants the Lunas to do this, but it helps our alphas in all of his battles.” she knew what I wanted to ask before I could even open my mouth.
“So the pride I felt, that was me accepting his kill?” I’m realizing I have a lot to learn about being a Luna.
She nodded, “You’ve marked each other, so you can feel each other’s emotions. When he felt your pride he knew you were behind him fully, leaving no question to him about where you stand. You’re his.” she smiled.
“I sure hope you’re staying for a long time because I need to learn a lot apparently.” I laughed.
“Just wait” she laughed, “you don’t even know the half of it.
Colt came up behind me and grabbed me by my waist, scooped me up in his arms and laughed.
“Let’s celebrate with a drink!” Levi cheered, and we all followed suit.
We enjoyed the next hour drinking and hanging out with everyone. I found a new appreciation for my mate, and my parents. Knowing just the little that I know now, I understand why my father said they’d shielded me from the alpha rules. I have so much to learn, but suddenly the idea of being Luna is just a little less frightening.
On the walk back to the pack house Colt walked hand in hand with me.
“I want to paint a portrait of you.” I said, just thinking that I have all the makings to have a picture of my mate without the need of a camera.
He laughed, “I can’t think of any reason why not.”
“Tomorrow, I want to go to the waterfalls and paint you.” I said, smiling.
I’m sure glad I went back and got my paints after my encounter with Aiden earlier. Colt went with me so he could make sure nothing else happened. When he saw my painting he was impressed, saying he didn’t know I was so good.
He hung the picture up in our room.
When we got to our room we both stripped and headed for the shower. He was injured in the fight, but he’s not acted like it has bothered him at all. When the shower water washed the blood away I could see when each tooth sunk into his shoulders, where the shred marks were when he ripped Aiden away from him with his teeth still sunk in.
The claw marks to his side still haven’t stopped bleeding fully. I wasn’t necessarily worried, but the sting in my chest when I looked over my mate’s injuries brought me to tears.
“It’s okay Freya.” he said, using a thumb to wipe a tear away that was falling down my cheek.
“I hated watching you fight. Every hit you took I found myself holding my breath.” I did in fact hate it so much.
“It was also invigorating.” I said, stifling a little giggle.
We got out of the shower and I wrapped in a towel so I could tend to his wounds. We are clean people for the most part but a wolf’s bite and claws can get infected really easy.
Once his wounds were properly dressed, and not just covered in a piece of his shirt and duct tape like he told me to do, I found myself wanting him.
In fact, I wanted him a bit too much. The heat from the shower must be getting to me, is what I tried to tell myself. The haze, three times in one day? We’re five days in and it should be letting up at this point, not increasing.
Colt felt it too, for a brief moment I could see his concern about it also. That concern was washed away quickly when hunger appeared in his eyes.
Colt, still very naked, picked me up and wrapped my legs around him. I started kissing his neck when I suddenly felt myself be ripped away from him and thrown onto our bed.
He tore the towel off my body. The aggressive way he was doing these things really turned me on. He stood there looking at me for a moment, lightly stroking himself and smiling.
“What?” I asked, feeling rather jealous of his hand right now.
“I’m the luckiest man in the world.” he said as he grabbed my legs and pulled me to the edge of the bed and buried his c**k deep inside me.
