FREYA POV
Of course Jasmine has something to do with the spell being broken. Colt didn’t want me going with him to confront her, but I’m going. This is huge, and it’s more than just his pack this effects.
I’m not really sure why I feel such hatred towards this woman, other than her outburst toward me about Colt she’s never actually done anything to me, but for some reason I just feel like she’s a threat to me.
When we got to her hut Colt walked right in, against the recommendation of Levi. We took him and a couple of gammas with us. Not that we think she can overpower anyone but frankly no one really knows what to expect here.
She stood from her table, excited to see Colt at first but when she saw the rest of us the excitement went away.
“What’s going on?” she asked, crossing her arms.
“What the hell have you done?” Colt yelled at her.
She looked at him and smiled.”You figured it out, huh?” she asked like she’s been waiting for him to figure this out. The smug look on her face pissed me off.
“Do you have any idea what you’ve done?” I asked feeling my blood boil.
She ignored me completely, she just kept looking at Colt.
“I figured since you only wanted me for the haze I would make the haze last forever.” she giggled like this was a joke.
“You felt bringing on the end of the species was a great way to get back in my bed?” he asked, clearly feeling annoyed.
She started pointing her finger at him “You were mine! I made that happen, they all agreed to choose me and then you went off and made another deal!” she started tearing up with rage as she continued yelling at him.”You wanted me Colt, we had a good time. You even said we’d be haze partners because of it!”
What did she say? Has he been lying to me? No, he was telling the truth I know he was, I could feel his guilt when he told me about her. Then it donned on me, he was feeling guilty because he was lying to me about her!
He turned to me quickly, “You should wait outside Freya. We can talk about this later.” he said like I was a child.
“Oh no. I’m staying right here, Colt. I want to hear all about your lies!” I spat back at him. How could he lie to me? I thought he’d be honest with me.
“Freya…” he started, like he was going to tell me to leave again but Jasmine cut him off.
“You wanted me Colt. You didn’t shut down the pairing option when the pack told you who they chose, you even picked me as your haze partner.” she turned and pointed at me “She’s the problem!”
She stepped over to him, “I needed you to see that you wanted me. I thought you’d take me when I was in your room when the haze hit the other night and you’d remember.” she sounded sad. “But then you told me I had to leave, you pushed me off of you. I thought ending the spell controlling the haze you wouldn’t be able to resist me but you did anyway.”
I can’t believe this. This is all Colt’s fault. He made her think he wanted her! Wait, does he want her?
“Look Jasmine, I didn’t protest the pack’s choice because it was their choice. I figured you had something to do with their choice, but I didn’t really care who I married as long as they are from the pack.” he sighed and looked at me “I picked you for the haze before I knew I was fated to Freya.”
He looked back at her, “I arranged to marry her if she didn’t find a mate and it wasn’t going to be until after the game anyways’ so I was going to be with you for the haze, worse case I had fun before I married someone else, best case she found her mate and nothing changed.” he sighed and looked at me, “I didn’t expect to be fated.”
I’m actually disgusted. I’m questioning if I want to keep hearing this, but the part of me telling me to run away is being overrun by the part of me that’s angry, wanting to hear it all so he can’t lie to me later.
“Why would you make that arrangement when you were supposed to marry me?” She asked him, the pain in her voice evident. I felt bad for her now. She was just being played with.
“You’re tainted Jasmine!” Colt said to her, very bluntly. “You’re not full Big Sky. Yes, having you as a Luna would make me stronger than I was, but Harland offered me a marriage to not only a full Big Sky woman but an alpha descendent. Making her my Luna would make me so much stronger.” He told her, talking to her like we’re all just meat.
He’s a power hungry pig! I walked over to Jasmine, I made her rip her tear soaked eyes off of him and look at me.
“I didn’t know, I’m sorry. He’s a lying d**k, but we need to fix this! If we don’t we’re going to become ferrel and eventually end up killing each other.” she just blinked at me.
“Before you killed the witch, did you have any idea how to fix this?” I asked.
“I just thought it would make it so he couldn’t deny his want for me.” she shook her head no.
I gave her a sympathetic smile, then I turned to leave.
“Where are you going Freya?” Colt asked, I could hear and feel his worry but the part of me that cared was smaller than the part that wanted to fix this.
“I’m going to talk to our guest and see if we can figure out how to fix this mess that YOU caused Colt.” I slammed the door behind me and walked back.
After a moment I let my hurt sink in. He lied to me, he did want her. Does he still want her knowing we’re fated? Is he still the power hungry d**k he was six days ago? I could feel him behind me, he must have come after me.
“Freya, can I explain?” he asked me.
“You already did. You toyed with that woman because you wanted her but wanted power more. You’re sick.” I didn’t stop, I didn’t turn to him, I didn’t budge from my mission.
“It’s changed Freya!” he said, chasing after me.
“The lies? Yeah those have a way of changing, don’t they?” I scoffed at him. I’m not giving in. I blindly believed him. He took advantage of that.
