COLT POV
When I woke up it was late afternoon, I looked over and saw my beautiful wife sleeping peacefully. I almost didn’t want to get up, but I knew if I didn’t then my entire Sheri schedule. would get thrown completely off.
Not to mention, I was starving. I wanted to eat and do a few things before the battle tonight. I’m going to have to address everyone about what happened, and I want to send a couple gammas down to switch with the ones currently keeping an eye on Levi and Jessi.
Having Ash was great for the attack, but I worried more than I think I would have if my trusted Levi was with me in that battle. I know Levi and his fighting, I am confident in him. Frankly, if that damn Kris didn’t smash his head against the ground like that I’m sure Levi would have destroyed his a**.
I know he won, but it shouldn’t have ended the way it did. Levi knew like the rest of us did when Kris did that he was showing Levi that only one of them was walking out of the ring after that fight.
The Alpha Games are supposed to prevent attacks on packs, and yes though you can fight to the death it’s not common. Usually everyone just fights for the bragging rights to say they kicked so and so’s a** and stuff like that. Very rarely does a battle to the death take place.
All my years going to Alpha games either with my father or on my own I had only seen maybe ten battles and in death. So far we’ve had two battles to the death and that’s a lot.
I know my battle is coming up and I’m not excited about it. Though, I do think we’ve gotten through the issues with the packs now that Crescent Moon is gone.
I slowly and quietly got out of bed, doing my best to not wake Freya. I grabbed some jeans from my closet and went into the bathroom to change.
My efforts to not wake Freya failed. When I stepped out of the bathroom she was up in her closet putting on clothes to get ready for the games.
“Why didn’t you wake me?” She asked as she slipped in a skirt.
“I thought rest would be good for you.” I said. I’m happy we decided to shower after we made love earlier, I’ve woken up with dried blood on me before and it’s not fun.
“We need to address the packs tonight. Have you heard from anyone about the witches?” She seemed troubled.
I walked over and stood in front of her while she finished dressing. “I just woke a few moments before you babe, what’s eating at you?” I asked. I’m concerned about her.
“Nothing. Let’s go.” She said as she again forgot shoes.
I grabbed her arms and lead her to sit on the bed with me, “Freya there’s something going on you’re not wanting to talk about but I need you to. It’s clearly bothering you and that bothers me.” I said in a calm and loving tone so she’d just stop a second and talk to me.
She looked down at her hands that were fidgeting. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, “I feel overwhelmed. I’ve never gone through so much all at once before. I’m excited about the babies, but I haven’t even had the chance to really think about them yet. Within seconds of finding out about them we were attacked. We should have been announcing the pregnancy and then Levi got horribly injured and now I don’t even want to announce it because my best friend’s mate is hurt and it feels like a horrible time to be happy about it.” I stopped her from continuing.
I sighed and held her hands tightly in mine, “I know what you mean. It feels like too much At one time. Can’t even process one thing before another happens.” I placed one of my hands on the side of her face, caressing her cheek and she leaned into it closing her eyes. “This isn’t how life will be my love, I hope anyways. And please do not feel like you can’t be gay about our babies, there’s no such thing as a bad time when it comes to new pack members especially when those members will be future leaders.” I smiled as she opened her eyes.
“Levi already knows about the pregnancy, I’m sure he’s probably told Jessi if you haven’t yet. I think tonight as we’re addressing the other packs and our pack we should announce it. It’s a blessing and there’s no reason not to relish in the joy babies bring.” I continued.
A tears fell from her eye and I wiped it away with my thumb.
“Thank you Colt. Maybe the pregnancy is just making me a little emotional.” She giggled.
We left the room and began walking out of the pack house when Ash was walking up.
“Great timing Alpha. I found the witch Belladonna. She said they all okay. They put Jasmine in a room and spelled the house then left to go get some things when they got back she was gone. They had no idea.” He informed us.
Freya asked, “Did you tell her of her prisoner’s fate?” Still not saying her name.
“Yes, though she really wanted to be the one to do it she’s okay with the outcome.” He answered.
I took this opportunity to get one of the things done I wanted, “Ash, can you choose two gamma to send to relieve the ones with Levi? I want to uphold our promise to Jessi, and I want news on my beta.”
“Of course Alpha, right away.” He turned to leave.
I turned back to the pack house remembering another thing I wanted to do, Freya turned back with me giving me a questioning look.
I saw Eunice sitting in the lounge drinking a cup of tea.
“Eunice, my friend.” I said as I went to take a seat across from him, Freya sat with me.
“Alpha. I’ve already sent for my things.” He said smiling at me.
I gave him a knowing smile. “I’m glad, thank you for staying.”
He nodded to me. Freya looked at us both confused. Before I had the chance to teen her he said, “He was going to ask me to come live here, and I’ve already agreed.” He went back to drinking his tea.
She smiled, “Thank you Eunice. You’ve helped us greatly in protecting this pack and our species. I can’t imagine running this pack without you by our side!” She stood up to hug him.
Now, it’s time to go address everyone about the attack.
