FREYA POV
I realized I haven’t even talked to my parents or brother since the attack. Given that they weren’t breaking down our door earlier I’m going to assume they know I’m okay.
Colt said that he called out for a meeting through the alphas and asked that all their packs attend. When we got down to the battle area I was surprised by the absence of bodies and the blood seemed to be fairly minimal considering how much death there was.
I was taken aback by someone crashing down at my feet. I wasn’t really sure what to make of it when I realized it was my brother’s mate.
“Freya please believe me, I had no idea of the attack!” She begged, “I knew Alpha Aiden wanted Alpha Colt dead but I thought any plan to make that happen died with him!” She cried.
I was frozen. I had no idea what to do, I looked around. I looked at Colt who just shrugged at me. I found Keegan, but he was just watching her. He had a very upset look to him like they’d been fighting maybe.
“When Aiden died I finally had the chance to be with Keegan and I never looked back to our pack. I’m not even sure who stepped in!” She pleaded.
I bent down to her and got her to look up at me, “As long as you didn’t know about the attack then I don’t really care. I expect you to speak with one of our pack members to discuss whatever you know about the wish of Colt’s death though, in case there’s something more we need to handle.” She nodded in understanding and she stood.
Keegan walked up and eyed me. “Will you be marrying?” I asked. Just because they’re mates doesn’t mean they’re going to marry, but my brother wishes to be Alpha after my father sol expect they’ll marry.
“Not yet, but I plan to.” Keegan answered. I nodded and they turned to walk away.
Colt walked over to me smiling, “I forgot he was mated to her. Guess that’s why we haven’t been seeing him much.” He laughed.
The area filled with all of Big Sky and all of the other pack leaders and their packs. My parents found us and wrapped me in a hug happy that I’m okay.
I pulled myself back from them, “We are about to make an announcement I want you to know first.” My mother smiled at me.
“What?” I asked.
“Sweetle I already know. A mother knows when her baby is expecting.” She giggled.
Dad clearly didn’t know because his eyes grew wide.
He quickly grabbed me and hugged me again. Then went to Colt and shook his hand congratulating him.
“Eunice says there’s two in here, a boy and a girl.” I said placing my hand on my belly.
“That’s the best news! I’m so excited for you!” She squealed fairly quietly given no one else knows yet.
Colt nodded to them that we needed to go now, and he grabbed my hand leading me. We stood up on the stage that the band played at before.
“As you have likely heard by now, our pack was attacked early this morning by Crescent Moon.” He began. “This attack was mostly premeditated, but not necessarily by the pack. A banished wolf from Big Sky manipulated the pack into the attack using their anger from losing their alpha against them.”
You could hear the gasps from members of the audience. There was a man that shouted, ” Why weren’t we notified of the attack?”
I answered, “We were only made aware of the attack as our invasion bells began ringing signaling that we were under attack. At this point our pack stepped in and handled it the way they’ve been trained to do. Everyone else was notified as we were able to given the spontaneity of the attack.” The answer must have been sufficient as he nodded and no one followed with questions about that.
Colt continued, “We are planning to continue the games as the threat has been dealt with. However, we do understand if there are packs or just members that wish to leave.” He praised a moment. No one said anything.
“With the continuance, there will be a single minor change. Whoever was to challenge the alpha of crescent moon will have a choice to accept a forfeit win or challenge another alpha. Truth be told after their initial alpha died earlier in the games I couldn’t tweak you who you would have fought anyways.” He lightly chuckled.
“Tonight though, we will be moving on to the final segment of the games; the Alphas.”
Everyone cheered, like we didn’t just talk about something horrible like an attack on the pack.
“Also, an announcement for Big Sky.” I smiled and stepped closer to Colt. “Our Luna has been informed that she is expecting twins, bringing into our pack a boy and a girl!”
Everyone cheered, not just our pack.
I’ve been so nervous about telling our pack, worried that they’d feel it was too soon given how traditional they are.
“We will be gathering after the battle tonight to celebrate with drinks, please everyone join us! “Colt added “For now, let’s all enjoy some food!”
We made our way to the tables and ate together. While we were eating Ash informed Colt that the gammas that left with Levi and Jessi are back.
They came over to us to give us an update.
“Alpha, the doctors said that Levi has a brain bleed. He is currently in and out of consciousness which they said is a good sign. He is not in a coma which gives them hope for a good recovery. They wish to keep him until the bleeding is under control so he doesn’t get worse.” Josh, one of the gammas, informed us.
“How is Jessi doing?” I asked. I couldn’t help it, she’s my best friend and I hate that she’s dealing with this alone.
He looked at me with this sorry look like he wasn’t sure if he should tell me, he looked at Colt who nodded to him. “Well Luna, I don’t feel she’s doing too well. She won’t eat or sleep. We tried bringing her food, we tried offering to sit with Levi while she got rest but she won’t move from his bedside.” He lowered his head to me, like I would be angry with him for the news.
“Thank you Josh, I don’t think anyone could do much better than that with her. I appreciate you trying, but she will do everything on her own time.” I placed my hand on his shoulder and lightly squeezed then took my hand away.
“Now that the attack is over with, you could go be with her if you wanted.” Colt said.
After a few moments of thinking about it I decided, “There’s too much the rest of the pack needs as we recover from the attack and give our fallen warriors a proper service.” I smiled at him, “I love that you care enough to make sure I could go be with her, but I think it’s time! fully step into the Luna role and not just the Freya role. It’s no time to leave my pack.”
