The Big Sky Alpha novel Chapter 68

FREYA POV

The next few days were filled with busy work as we prepared a service for our fallen men and cleaned up more from the attacks, we’ve had two nights of alpha battles now and tonight is the night that Colt is fighting.

This time around I feel much more confident in his abilities as I’ve not only watched him in the ring before, but I’ve also seen him fight rogues and in an attack now. Given our luck so far through our relationship though, I can’t lie I’m a little nervous.

Colt is barking Alpha Jonathan from the Silver Moon pack. Jonathan is older than Colt but well built and in good shape. I’ve never seen him fight though, and Colt says it’s “in the bag” so clearly he thinks it will be an easy fight.

I wrapped up getting ready for the battles and headed down with Colt. We were met by Josh who had just gotten back from being with Levi and Jessi. Everyday about this time we are greeted by a gamma giving us an update on his condition.

“Great news Alpha, Levi is awake and has been most of the time I’ve been there with him!” He said very excited to give us the good news.

“That’s excellent news!” I said, they’ve been having a hard time getting Jessi to eat and sleep since they got there, so I’m hoping now she’ll actually eat a decent meal and sleep a bit. The gammas that have been swapping daily have said they’ve gotten her to eat small things, they’ve caught her dozing off her and there but nothing that would make us not worry yet. I’m hoping the news of him being awake now and staying awake will help her feel like she can now.

“Have they said anything about him coming home?” Colt asked.

“They want to keep him another day or two just to monitor the brain bleed, they said that by the time he goes home ideally the brain bleed will be fully healed. I don’t know all that doctor talk but that’s what we gathered.” Josh answered.

Good, we will be seeing them soon from the sounds of it. One less thing to make me worry as we head into there evening.

As usual Colt decided not to eat, he was energized and ready, and I did all I could to match his energy. It wasn’t that I was so worried I couldn’t be pumped and excited because I surely could even though I’m worried just because I know it’s helpful to him, but I’ve been really tired the past few days.

Colt looked absolutely amazing, like all the damn time! I constantly want him! I can’t keep my hands off him. I’ve heard being pregnant makes you horny, but I never imagined it would be like this.

Just watching him with everyone being incredibly pumped and ready for his battle, as exhausted as I am, I’d love to spend the night having him f**k me in that battle ring!

Goddess what is wrong with me? He must have known that I’m fighting every urge to hike my skirt up in front of him so he can take me on this table in front of everyone, because he walked up and wrapped his arms around me whispering “Later little wolf.” In this sexy deep growl of a whisper he’s been doing lately that makes my desire pool!

He walked with me to the ring. He took me to my seat and kissed me. When he turned to walk away I grabbed his hand pulling him back to me for a kiss. My nerves suddenly hitting it.

“Be careful Colt.” I said under my breath. He sat down next to me and held my hand.

“Freya baby, you have no need to worry.”

I shot him a look, “Your brother tried to fight you to the death, Levi is stuck in the hospital because his injuries were worse than our healers could handle, and we were just attacked. I’m worried, not because I don’t have faith in you but because fate seems to be wanting us constantly facing something.”

He chuckled lightly, “You can look at it that way, or you can look at it like fate is giving us ample blessings.” I looked at him a little confused.

“Well, I didn’t lose to my brother, Levi won his battle and is doing okay, you saved our pack, we made new alliances because of all the crap with the never ending haze, I found my fated mate, and she’s now carrying my babies. I think I am beyond blessed.” He smiled and kissed my cheek then got up and turned to leave.

As I waited for the battle to begin I really thought about what he said, he’s very right. Maybe I’ve been looking at everything through this horribly sad viewpoint and should think about things in the bright light he just brought to my attention.

I was snapped from my thoughts when I heard the bell ring. Goddess, he looked incredibly sexy and confident.

Jonathan threw a punch and landed with Colt’s jaw. Colt didn’t seem to budge though, he countered and landed a jab to Jonathan’s face. Jonathan stumbled back a little and Colt lunged at him, taking him down to the ground. After what seemed like mere seconds of tossing around Colt pinned Jonathan.

A battle that had me worried and it lasted maybe a minute. Colt stood and helped Jonathan up, both of them smiling and laughing like ash was good in the world.

I began believing what Colt said, we’re blessed. I just have a very meek outlook and need to find better lights to shine in situations. Maybe Colt can help me with that.

I stood from my seat and began making my way to the ring watching Colt.

Suddenly the smile on his face faded, and people began to scream and yell. Colt looked at me and yelled, “Go home now Freya!” Just as I realized he had an arrow sticking out of his chest. He ripped it out and turned to get out of the ring. The attack bells started ringing.

He started running over to me as I began running to him when an arrow landed in his upper arm. He turned away from me and began running away from me as Ash ran up to me, “Luna! They’re after him! He’s luring them away I need to get you back to the house now!”
