COLT POV
She’s been passed out for two days now. I’ve had the healers in here several times, they keep saying her and the kids are okay. Clearly she just needed rest.
Sasha said she’s seen this often with those carrying more than one, but she said that her using up as much energy as she’d imagine it takes to shield our pack like she did she expects she might be out for a while.
Her parents have been in here several times now checking on her. I’ve got news coming to me from a few people. Levi and Jessi should be heading back to the pack today with strict instructions for him to take it very easy the next few days.
I haven’t left the room. I’ve heard from a couple of the guards of the prisoners that they’re starting to get a bit rowdy. The cells are built to handle a wolf so I’m not worried about them escaping.
Eunice hasn’t had any visions from the goddess about them yet other than the one he had the night they attacked.
Everything is mostly at a stand still since I won’t leave her until I know for a fact she’s okay. I’ve been sleeping beside her, just holding her. I haven’t been going down to the kitchen so the head chef has been bringing me food and water.
It’s been boring so I’ve been reading, talking to her and the babies like they’re here listening, and even singing to them.
I heard a knock at the door and walked over to open it, to my surprise it was Jessi and Levi.
“Hey man” Levi said instantly grabbing me in a hug. “How’s she doing?” He asked as Jessi pushed her way through and went and sat by Freya.
“She’s just been sleeping. Healers say she’s fine, just recovering from exhaustion. Though, if she isn’t awake by tomorrow morning I’m taking her down to the hospital. She’s not eating or drinking anything it can’t be healthy for her or the babies.” I said.
Jessi gasped, “Babies?” She squealed. I looked over at Levi and he shrugged.
“Frankly I totally forgot.” He laughed.
“You knew!?” She yelled at him.
“Well I knew she was pregnant, I didn’t know there was a plural.” He held his hands up in mock surrender laughing.
I needed this. “Im glad you’re here man, I’ve been bored out of my mind but I won’t leave her.” I said patting his back.
“What happened?” Jessi asked.
“Well we were attached for the second time in this week, by the crow. She used her abilities and put a shield around every pack member both times. She was just to exhausted the second time. She passed out right after she did it.” I stood there smiling at my sleeping Luna. “Protected and saved our pack.” I whispered.
“So it’s true then? She killed Jasmine?” Levi asked.
I just nodded. Quite a sight it was, but they didn’t need all the details.
They stayed in the room with me until they were ready for bed. Jessi made me promise I’d let her know as soon as Freya woke up.
I laid in bed with her, rubbing her belly and just talking to her.
“I guess you were a little right. Fate seems to just want us to face the hard stuff up front I guess.” I laughed.
“Sure is making us stronger though. I think back on it all and honestly it feels like you’ve been with me for years, when it’s not even been a full couple months yet. I keep thinking back to when I lied to you. The pain in your eyes, the obvious distrust in your eyes. I felt like I lost you already. Then the infection, I hated everything about that but being stuck in there alone with nothing but my thoughts was probably the best thing for me. I realized how horrible I handled that whole situation, saw how my actions landed you and Jessi in a potentially deadly situation.” I stopped, she groaned and turned over.
It’s the most she’s moved. She turned back over, squeezing her eyes shut like she wasn’t ready to open them yet. I watched her closely, praying she was waking up.
Very groggily she asked, “You just gonna state at me, handsome?”
I about broke into tears. I scooped her in my arms and began kissing her.
I kissed her lips, kissed her cheeks, kissed her eyes, kissed her forehead, kissed her nose.
She giggled, “Holy s**t! Did I die?” She opened her eyes smiling.
“You’ve been asleep for days!” I said holding her not wanting to let go. “Everyone kept saying you were okay but I was worried.”
Her smile faded and she looked at me where the arrows caught me.
“You’re okay?” She asked, “I remember seeing you get shot with an arrow. Two of them.” She said.
“I’m okay they didn’t go very deep. You saved our pack, again.” I said. “There was only one death from our pack, but we caught 12 of them and chased off the rest after you shielded us.
She smiled for a second then asked, “Who attacked us?”
I sighed, “A native tribe called Crow. We’ve never had any issues with them so it really makes no sense but Eunice said that he was able to see that they want our land I guess.”
“What did you learn from the prisoners?” She asked.
I just smiled at her, so happy she’s awake.
“Nothing yet but now that you’re awake I can begin interrogations.” Then I remembered.
“Oh honey, Levi and Jessi are home. I’m supposed to let her know you’re awake.”
I kissed her and asked how she was feeling since I’m still pretty worried about her. She still hasn’t eaten or drank anything in days.
“Like I could eat a horse and maybe drink the River.” She giggled.
