COLT POV
I woke early and slipped out of bed, careful to not wake Freya. Ash was already down at the doors of the pack house waiting so we could begin our interrogations.
I’ve decided already that I want to begin with the weakest looking of all of them and work my way up. There’s 12 of them and we have 10 cells set up in our prison cave.
When we got to the cave, as previously discussed, not one person spoke out loud. There were 6 guards in and around the cave, they all mind linked me “Morning Alpha.” I mind linked the main guard, “I want the weakest.” He smiled and nodded.
We walked to the second cell in and he opened it, motioning with his head for the guy to stand and walk out. He wouldn’t though. He just sat on the floor repeating “What are you going to do to me?”. Inside, I was smiling at this. Outside, I remained completely emotionless.
The guy wasn’t budging so two guards went in without saying anything and grabbed the guy by his arms and dragged him out. Ash has three gammas outside the cave ready for us. They took the prisoner from the guards and the guards went back to their post like nothing happened.
We were taking the prisoners to a smaller cave about a quarter mile away that is meant for one person. It’s where we previously held Jasmine and what we use for instances like this where we need to interrogate someone.
This man being human posses a certain issue we’re not familiar with and that’s the issue of our strength. We can’t be too hard on him or it will kill him and, for the moment at least, that’s not the goal here.
The room’s dark when we enter. It stinks like a cave and has an eerie feeling about it, which makes it perfect. One of the gammas Ash brought walked around and lit the 3 torches we have in here. It’s a small room, has a small cot, a table with 2 chairs, and a bucket. Instantly the guy got anxious.
He kept talking, saying things like “Don’t kill me” and “This is so bad” as the gammas strapped him down to one of the chairs. To an omega wolf, I’m rather large towering over most of them. To a human I imagine I must look like some kind of monster.
I just stood on the other side of the table with the chair in front of me with my arms crossed. The guys were mind linked with me and were cracking jokes. A couple of times I about laughed or smiled but I held my totally emotionless stance.
I borrowed my brow and slammed my hands down on the table in front of me and finally I spoke to him.
“Why did you come here, human?” I growled, making sure to sound very disgusted as I said the last bit.
“W-we were ordered.” He said very quietly.
“Why?” I growled louder.
“Umm, we were told to kill the alpha of Big Sky.” He said a little louder but still rather quiet.
I partially shifted my mouth, “I asked you why!” I growled through my shifted teeth.
I swear he about pissed himself.
“They want your land!” He cried.
I’m beginning to get frustrated. He’s talking at least, but he’s almost too scared. I’m having to ask the same question over and over so he will answer, it’s like he’s only able to say little bits at a time.
I threw the chair on my side in the table down and paced. I couldn’t help but think that if this was my warrior caving like this under such minimal pressure without even being tortured I’d kill them myself.
Guess humans are weaker though. I stopped pacing and looked at the guy, “I already know you want my land. I want to know why you’re coming for our land now all of a sudden?” I made sure my voice was calmer but still clearly angry.
“Well, the chief says it is supposed to be our land.” He said in a more normal tone, still with a shaky voice though.
I sat the chair back up and sat down in it and sat back with my arms crossed, “Boy, I’m not a patient wolf. I’m trying really hard to not just eat you and move on to the next person here. You need to start spilling.”
We don’t actually eat humans, but I imagine in their minds we must be these horrible nightmares of monsters because this guy is damn near pissing himself just talking to us so obviously I have to play with him. Being the big bad wolf can be quite fun sometimes.
“He said that our people originated on this land but were forced to leave because of the dangerous werewolves. Our chief, who’s kind of losing it if you ask me, says that our tribe is suffering and it’s because we’re not on this land.” He looked at me like he was waiting for me to say if that was enough.
I stayed quiet and just looked at him so he kept talking
“Chief is worried that we’re not going to have enough food for the harsh winter season and fears that we will lose many because of it. I can’t say where the idea or story came from that he’s speaking of, I’d never heard it before but we’re not to question just follow. He wants your land because he thinks you have more to live off of than we do and he thinks it should be ours anyways.” He looked at me again.
I sat silent, but mind linked Ash, “Do we believe him? Have we heard this story?” I can’t think of any story he’s referring to. Our pack has no history with the crow. Our issues have always been with the Blackfoot tribe.
“No alpha, as far as anything I’ve ever heard our pack has always been on this mountain before there were other tribes to have land issues with.” He answered. Which is what I was expecting.
I finally stopped the guy from rambling, “Your chief is gravely mistaken. Our pack has been on this mountain before any human knew it existed. The goddess herself created us on this mountain. We’re the original pack!”
I turned to Ash and mind linked him to take him back to his cell.
He began panicking, “Are you going to let us go? Are you going to kill us? Are you going to est us?” No one spoke to him. They just took him to his cell and brought the next one to me.
