The Double Drop Buff Surviving The Endless Ocean novel Chapter 106

Chapter 106

Leeanne was thrilled. Finally, there was a trading hall. She no longer had to hawk her wares or shout about what the wanted to buy or sell.

Right now, what she needed most was millet or chicken feed,

But she guessed she’d have to wait a bit. Everyone was still figuring out the system, and most folks hadn’t listed any items

yet.

Leeanne opened up the trading hall.

There were already a few items listed. Some players wasted no time and had already put things up for sale.

But it seemed like most people were just testing things out. All that was available were wood, iron, and plastic. There was nothing decent yet.

Leeanne decided to test it out herself.

She glanced at the fried doughnuts next to her and quickly listed three of them.

She noticed there were two ways to set prices. One was to specify what one wanted in exchangewood, iron, or even a particular blueprint or specific itemso the trade could happen instantly.

The other option was to leave a message under the item or start a private chat, which meant the trade would need to be negotiated.

It was pretty flexible.

Also, one could hide one’s real name as the seller. Of course, if one chose to stay anonymous, one couldn’t use private chat. One could only leave messages or trade directly.

Leeanne set the first fried doughnut to trade for 20 charcoal, the second for 5 iron, and left the third open for negotiation.

She chose to stay anonymous.

Honestly, listing stuff was a blast. Leeanne felt like she was running her own little shop.

No sooner had she put them up than one of her fried doughnuts got snapped up.

Leeanne checked the trading hall again and saw that most of the items up for trade were wood, nails, iron, and plastic. After all, these were the basic supplies.

Wood and nails are dirt cheap, Leeanne thought to herself.

A thought struck her. When she was planting in the mystical cherry grove earlier, she’d ended up with a bunch of leftover seeds.

The mystical cherry grove was now a quarter acre in size. She’d already planted strawberries, cabbage, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and even fruit trees like pears and oranges.

Half the land was for fruit trees, half for veggies, and there wasn’t much room left for anything else. So, she needed to expand the mystical cherry grove as soon as possible.

The system had just notified her. She couldn’t move living creatures in or out of the mystical cherry grove until its progress was high enough, which probably meant the grove needed to be bigger.

And if she could expand the grove’s area, maybe the growth speed would boost again, making her crops grow even faster.

Since everyone had plenty of wood and nails right now, it was the perfect time to grab a bunch.

Her first goal was to get her raft up to 10 thousand square feet.

Leeanne had a ton of supplies, including strawberries, cabbage, spring onions, potatoes, watermelons, beef, chicken, and all sorts of other stuff.

With the island hunt going on, a few people had managed to get wild game meat, so beef and chicken were only going to get cheaper. She needed to sell them fast and trade for other supplies.

So, Leeanne listed beef, chicken, chicken drumsticks, and wings, setting each one to trade for wood, nails, or iron.

Then she listed some potatoes.

Potatoes were pretty rare right now, so she asked for more wood in exchange.

She had plenty of watermelons, so she chopped them up and listed them in small portions for trade.

She was totally tired of cabbage after eating it so many times, so she put some up for trade as well.

Strawberries might be useful, but they ripened every few days, so she always had plenty lying around. She put some up for trade as well.

Since almost nobody else was selling strawberries, she set her price much higher.

Leeanne spent quite a while putting up loads of her supplies for trade.

Once she was done, she wandered around the trading hall, checking out what everyone else had listed.

Finally, there were some decent items up for grabs.

There was a search bar at the top of the trading hall, so Leeanne searched for millet and chicken feed. But nothing was available for trade right now.

She waited a while longer, but still nobody listed millet or chicken feed. Feeling a bit helpless, Leeanne finally typed into Local Chat: [Does anyone have millet or chicken feed for sale?]

Everyone in District 33 knew Leeanne, so when she posted, people jumped in right away to help.

[Leeanne, what do you need millet for? Are you craving for millet risotto?]

[Whoever asked that must be a fool. Since Leeanne’s asking for millet and chicken feed, it’s obvious she’s going to be feeding chickens.]

[Who’s Leeanne? She has chickens? Where’d she get the chickens from?]

[Oh, I got it. Didn’t Robin catch a chicken and bring it onto his raft? But he had nothing to feed it, so the poor thing got so hungry it jumped straight into the sea.]

People from Districts 34 and 35 had no clue who Leeanne was, and the chat channel was a chaotic mess. Everyone was spamming, and Leeanne could barely make sense of it all.

Robin chimed in: [Honestly, I felt pretty bad. I finally managed to catch a chicken and bring it onto my raft, but I couldn’t keep it alive.

[Back then, I didn’t even have a garden. But now I do. Leeanne, you can feed your chickens some veggie leaves. I’ve got plenty. Do you want some?]

Max added: [That’s Robin from District 34. He’s a total legend, basically the top dog in our district.]

Robin replied: [No way, I’m not that great. Leeanne, I’ve already sent the veggie leaves over. Just accept them.]

Back during the living standards competition, Robin had stayed anonymous, so Leeanne still had no clue he was the author of Night’s End.

Even so, Robin being so public about helping her made Leeanne feel a little uncomfortable.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, especially in a survival world. Who just helps a stranger for nothing? And anyway, I’ve got plenty of veggie leaves myself, Leeanne thought.

Leeanne replied right away: [No need, thanks anyway, Robin.]

Robin replied: [Sure, no problem. If you ever need anything, just let me know. Now that Districts 33, 34, and 35 are all merged, we’re basically one big district, so don’t be shy.]

Leeanne had already gone back to the trading hall, so she didn’t see Robin’s last message and didn’t reply.

Robin had a great reputation in District 34. Plenty of people had gotten help from him, and he had quite a few followers.

One of them, Max Turner, especially admired Robin. He practically idolized Robin.

When Max saw Robin being so enthusiastic about helping Leeanne, but Leeanne staying distant and cold, he couldn’t help but get annoyed.

Max sneered [Robin, you have so many supplies that veggie leaves don’t even matter to you. But maybe some folks haven’t seen a single leaf since Survival on the Seas started. They probably think it’s super valuable and hesitate to take them.]

Both Rodger and Danelle were speechless.

Emmett burst out laughing. [Man, talk about a frog in a well! This is hilarious.]

Max shot back: [What do you mean by that?]

Emmett replied: [You know exactly what I mean.]

Most folks in District 33 knew Leeanne well. They’d seen what she ate for dinner. When Max started throwing shade at Leeanne, they immediately thought less of him, and a bunch of people jumped in to stick up for Leeanne.

[Leeanne lacking veggie leaves? That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.]

[Exactly. I might never have had veggie leaves myself, but I’m sure Leeanne has plenty.]

[Yeah, if Leeanne wants to feed her chickens, she can just use watermelon rinds or strawberries. Why would she need those veggie scraps?]

[Geez, District 34 really has so many frogs in a well.]

District 33’s comments immediately set off a bunch of folks from District 34. Many were already backing Robin, and now, with their district pride on the line, they were quick to get riled up.

[Wasn’t Robin just trying to help Leeanne out with those veggie leaves? She didn’t appreciate it, and now District 33 is just

throwing shade?)

W

(Yeah, what makes District 33 so special anyway?]

[People in District 33 sure are full of themselves.]

[Why can’t folks from District 33 be cocky? After all, your District 34 doesn’t even exist anymore.]

The tension in the chat channel was off the charts.
