Leeanne picked up the red bead.

[Unknown damaged red bead: Damaged, unusable. It can be repaired with Fortune’s Favor. Do you want to repair it?]

Yes,Leeanne confirmed.

[Repaired successfully. You’ve obtained an Enchanted Red Bead. It can be enchanted onto gear such as clothes, hats, and shoes. Enchantment boosts Constitution by 1 point.

[Note: Requires a crafting table with enchanting capabilities. Fortune’s Favor uses left: 3]

Enchanted Bead?Leeanne thought. Finally, this game has enchanting.

Even though it only increased Constitution by 1 point, it was an extra boost that didn’t take up any equipment slots.

Right now, even hats or clothes that added just 1 point of Constitution were highly sought after. If traded, they could fetch a lot of good items, let alone something with an enchantment bonus.

This Enchanted Bead is worth a fortune,Leeanne thought excitedly.

She’d really struck gold this time.

So far, she hadn’t come across any crafting table with enchanting features. Maybe it’s not available yet?she

wondered.

Whatever the case, anything that could be enchanted was worth a fortune.

Leeanne quickly fixed the damaged purple and yellow beads, scoring Enchanted Beads. One was for Agility, and the other was for Strength.

The three beads were so small, but Leeanne was totally obsessed with them.

She checked out the entry pass again.

It was already nighttime, too late to head to any island. She’d have to wait until tomorrow.

Leeanne was really satisfied. Every time she used Fortune’s Favor, nothing went to waste. Whether it was Enchanted Beads or the entry pass, she always ended up with something valuable.

Fortune’s Favor is so useful. It’s literally turning trash into treasure, she thought.

She still had one last use of Fortune’s Favor left, but after racking her brain for ages, Leeanne just couldn’t find anything worth spending it on.

But if she didn’t use it, once it was past ten at night, the chance would be gone for good.

It’d just go to waste.

She decided she’d rummage through her storage chest later to see if there was anything worth repairing.

It was time for dinner, so she de

ed to grab a bite first.

She went to check her small fishing net first and found it packed with shrimp. For dinner, she made some fried shrimp, stirfried some greens, and threw together a quick corn chowder.

She skipped the pasta tonight.

She just went with simple dishes, since she had a bunch of things left to take care of.

While she was cooking, she glanced at the chat channel and was surprised to see a bunch of people talking about Emmett.

[There are so many idiots out there. Someone’s actually hiring people to clean their boots, and the price keeps going up. What’s up with that?]

[Wait, you mean Emmett? Now he’s offering 500 wood for just one pair of boots. Geez, he’s rich.]

[Seriously, that’s just stupid. Cleaning boots isn’t hard at all. Why waste so much wood on something so easy?]

Most people were just calling Emmett a rich idiot, but finally, someone spilled the real story.

[Seriously, isn’t it weird he’s offering so much wood just to get his boots cleaned? Why does Emmett keep raising the price? It’s just one pair. How many times does he need them scrubbed?]

[Yeah, Emmett’s already had over a dozen people try cleaning his boots, and the price keeps going up. They’ve been scrubbed so many times, you’d think they’d fall apart by now.]

[Here’s the truth. Those boots reek like crazy. I almost puked when I picked them up. Who’d actually dare to clean them?]

[For real! I lasted maybe thirty seconds before I gave up. I’m still gagging now.]

[I scrubbed for over ten minutes, and those boots still reek like crazy. No way anyone can earn that wood. It’s totally not worth it. Is Emmett trolling us?]

Emmett popped up in the chat channel. I’m not trolling you guys. I’ve already spent a ton of wood trying to get these boots cleaned. Now nobody wants the job, so I’m scrubbing them myself. Ugh, I’m gagging I

Leeanne found it strange and sent Emmett a private message [You still haven’t managed to clean those boots?]

Emmett messaged back, feeling totally defeated: [Nope, they’re just getting smellier the more they’re scrubbed. Nobody can get them clean, so now I’m stuck doing it myself. Ugh, this stench is making me sick. What kind of cursed boots are these?]

Leeanne was speechless.

She never expected Bob to be this filthy.

Emmett sounded even more exhausted. [Nope, I’m done. I’m going to find Gideon. He’s got the muscle, so maybe he can get these boots clean.]

Emmett fell silent, and just then, Leeanne’s dinner was ready, so she started eating.

She’d just started eating when Emmett messaged her again. [Oh no! Bob’s Boots are ruined. Gideon was so strong that he totally wrecked them while scrubbing.]

Leeanne was stunned. [Seriously? Those boots actually got ruined just by cleaning them?]

Just how hard did Gideon go at those boots?she wondered.

Emmett was almost in tears. [Yeah, look. Bob’s Boots are now damaged.]

[Damaged Bob’s Boots: Bob’s Boots are damaged and not worth a thing anymore. Who could wreck them this badly? That’s terrifying.]

Leeanne: [You really can’t wear them anymore?]

Emmett: [Nope, not a chance. Forget about any Agility boost. These boots are completely split open. I can’t even get them on.]

Bob’s Boots were ruined. Both midcalf boots had big gaping tears. No way he could wear them now.

Emmett was sniffling. [It’s over, it’s over. These boots were so nice, but I guess I’m just not meant to have good stuff.]

Leeanne looked at the ruined boots, and suddenly, a spark of inspiration hit her.

Why not try Fortune’s Favor on them?she thought.

She still had one use left, and Bob’s Boots seemed to be worth it. Maybe she’d end up with something unexpected.

Like how fixing the Arrow turned it into a Swift flight Arrow, making it way stronger and faster.

She’d just scored Emmett’s Enchanted Beads and the entry pass for nothing, both worth a fortune. Since she’d already lucked out thanks to him, she decided to lend him a hand.

But since Fortune’s Favor was so amazing, she wasn’t about to do it for free.

After a moment’s thought, Leeanne messaged Emmett: [Hand over the boots and let me check them out. If I manage to fix them, how are you going to repay me?)

Emmett was in disbelief. (You can fix them? No way. Trust me, I’ve already tried. Those boots are beyond saving.]

Leeanne: [Just tell me this. If I actually fix them, what will you give me in return?]

Emmett: [ll be at your beck and call, and give you anything you want. You can scold me, even smack me if you feel like it.]

Suddenly, he perked up with an idea. [How about this? Any seeds I get from no you.]

, I’ll share them all with

Leeanne: [Deal. And another thing, whenever Gideon opens a chest and finds any useless stuff, don’t throw it out. Just pass it my way, okay?]

Emmett was floored. [You’re going to collect junk?]

Leeanne thought for a moment. [Alright, fine. I’m officially a junk collector.]

Emmett’s suggestion reminded her. She could start hoarding junk. If she grabbed stuff that looked busted but had some potential, she could just wait for another shot with Fortune’s Favor and turn trash into treasure. That sounded like a pretty sweet deal.

Unfortunately, just as Leeanne was getting excited about her new idea, Emmett poured cold water on it.

Emmett: [If you’re set on collecting junk, you’ll pretty much have to rely on Gideon. I’ve asked around, and nobody else pulls junk out of chests as he does.]

Gideon always ended up with the strangest loot, which used to leave Emmett scratching his head. Emmett actually checked with a bunch of people and found out that almost nobody ever got broken stuff.

It wasn’t impossible, but it was really, really rare.

Leeanne was disappointed. [Fine, if Gideon doesn’t want it, just give it to me.]

Emmett felt a bit embarrassed. [Honestly, I’m kind of hesitant to let Gideon open chests most of the time.]

Leeanne understood. She wouldn’t want to waste someone else’s loot. [It’s fine, just hand it over if you ever get any.J

Emmett agreed right away.

Even though Gideon’s luck was terrible and he always ended up with a pile of junk, he refused to give up and kept trying his luck. So every few days, he’d hand Emmett some random junk.

Emmett didn’t want any of that junk either, so he’d just throw it out.

Passing it to Leeanne was even better. At least he didn’t have to bother with the junk anymore.

Once they’d made their deal, Emmett passed the ruined Bob’s Boots to Leeanne.
