Chapter 122
Leeanne turned around in shock and stared at it.
She thought, ‘Did an old goat really say that?
Man, that flattery is so extra, one could write a song about it.
Who cares? It’s not my business.
Leeanne walked off without another word.
The old goat scrambled to its feet and trotted after Leeanne, bleating, “Come on, please patch me up with that powder you
ased earlier.”
That stuff used earlier? The Healing Salve? Keep dreaming, old timer. Leeanne rolled her eyes.
Leeanne chuckled, “Why should I care about you?”
She thought again, ‘What a sneaky old fraud.
Turns out, the longer something lives, the more cunning it gets.
Actually, this old goat isn’t just cunning. He’s downright sly.‘
The old goat kept trailing after Leeanne, bleating nonstop, “If it weren’t for the Golden Core Nectar, that little one in your
rms wouldn’t have lasted this long. I helped you out, you know. You can’t just let me die!”
Leeanne let out a cold snort. “You seem to be doing just fine to me.”
jure, the old goat was all banged up, but it could still walk, jump, and talk a mile a minute without even breaking a sweat.
It seems healthy enough, Leeanne thought.
ceanne was pissed. Even if the old goat keeled over right in front of her, she wouldn’t bother to help.
Ther skills were just a bit weaker, she’d have ended up as wolf chow.
Not killing it is already merciful, Saving it? No way!‘ she snorted to herself.
She hurried off with Snowy in her arms, the old goat hot on her heels.
reanne was getting annoyed. She glanced down at Little Lamb. “Snowy, can you find me another mou?”
That Floppy–Eared Sheep from the island wasn’t bad at all.
Snowy looked up at Leeanne with big, innocent green eyes, confused. “Master, they won’t listen to me
What? Leeanne was genuinely surprised.
Snowy just shrugged, lost for words.
The old goat shuffled over and said, “It’s barely hanging on, only alive thanks to you and that Golden Core Nectar. It can’t do that. Besides, most of the white sheep on the island are gone. It can’t stand the black sheep, so it definitely won’t call them?

Leeanne stopped in her tracks. “What’s the difference between black and white sheep?”
‘Aren’t they all just sheep?‘ she thought.

The old goat twitched its beard. “Oh, there’s a huge difference. White sheep are pretty, and black sheep are dirty…”
Leeanne chuckled, “So what kind of sheep are you, then?”
The old goat replied, “Oh, I’m a black–and–white sheep.”
Little Blue swooped over and chirped, “You’re just a mutt!”
The old goat bristled, eyes wide. “You little brat! If your parents saw you now, they’d be furious. Aren’t bluejays supposed to be graceful and noble? Look at you, rude and brainless.”
‘Huh? Leeanne thought.
Leeanne whipped her head around.
This old goat’s sharper than he looks. He actually figured out Little Blue’s got bluejay heritage, she thought.
Still, Leeanne didn’t have time to dwell on it. She needed to get to Snowy’s home as soon as possible.
She hurried along, clutching Snowy tightly in her arms.
The old goat might’ve looked like it was about to drop dead, but it kept up with Leeanne without missing a beat, bleating nonstop about wanting treatment.
Suddenly, Leeanne asked, “Why do you say they won’t listen to Snowy? Back on the island, Snowy easily got a white sheep to
come over.”
The old goat glanced at Snowy. “It’s only been a few days since it was born. When it first came into the world, it was riding on its mom’s reputation. The other sheep would follow. But now? Its mom’s gone, and it’s barely hanging on. Who’s gonna listen to it anymore?”
‘Snowy’s mom is dead?” Leeanne saw tears welling up in Snowy’s eyes and quickly patted its head.
Makes sense. If there wasn’t some real danger, no mother would ever send her newborn off to some strange place, Leeanne thought.
The old goat got all dramatic. “Three days ago, something big went down…“\
It waited expectantly for Leeanne to take the bait.
Leeanne shot it a glance and asked, “What’s it?”
The old goat said, ‘I’m the only one who witnessed it, an earth–shattering event!”
Leeanne sped up, scoffing coldly. “Ha!”
The old goat hurried after her. “You wanna know? I’ll spill, but you gotta heal me up with that Healing Salve first.”
Leeanne shot back, “Not a chance!”
She picked up the pace. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to know what happened, but saving Snowy was her top priority right
now.

Besides, this old goat was way too sly. There was no way she could trust a word it said.
The old goat got desperate. “Hey, don’t doubt me. I’ve lived for three hundred years, you know. I’m a big deal.”
Lecanne let out a mocking laugh.
Yeah, right, three hundred years? What a load of bull, Leeanne thought.

The old goat got even more frantic. “Hey, kiddo, why don’t you believe me? I’m telling you, once you leave this island, your Sheep Whisperer Bell won’t work anymore!”
Leeanne stopped in her tracks and turned to look at it. “You know about the Sheep Whisperer Bell?”
‘Man, this old goat really knows his stuff, she thought.
The old goat puffed up with pride. “Of course. I know everything.”
Leeanne nodded. “Alright, follow me. Once Snowy is safe, I’ll think about patching you up.”
She might not actually save the old goat, but she was definitely going to milk it for all the info it’s got.
She didn’t have time for that right now.
She strode forward, and up ahead, a path appeared.
The path was paved with blue stones, about three feet wide, with tall purple alfalfa swaying on either side.
Snowy got excited. “We’re almost there, master. We’re almost there.”
Leeanne carried it inside, heading down the path.
After about ten minutes, the path suddenly opened up into a vast clearing.
But the place was nothing but a sprawling area of ruins.
Broken tiles, stones, and wood were piled together, mixed with dirt and dry grass. Surrounding the ruins, tall purple alfalfa swayed, their blossoms filling the air with a sweet fragrance.
Leeanne wrinkled her nose. ‘Ugh, this smell is weird. Not my thing!
Leeanne glanced down at Snowy. “Is this it?”
Snowy looked around, a bit hesitant. “Yeah, this is the right spot, but… My home wasn’t like this…”
Leeanne sighed inwardly and asked, “Was this place all in one piece before? Maybe something happened, and everything collapsed.”
“No,” Snowy shook its head. “There used to be a patch of big blue morning glories around my home, and some alfalfa, but
the alfalfa wasn’t this tall.”
‘Wait… What’s going on here?‘ Leeanne wondered, feeling a bit lost.
She scanned the area, but nope, not a single blue morning glory anywhere. ‘Where are the flowers Snowy mentioned?” she thought.
Leeanne and the two sheep stood there, not moving, all a bit stunned.

The old goat coughed and said, ‘I was lucky enough to visit the Divine Sheep Palace once. Trust me, it looked nothing like this, and it was way bigger, too.”
This place was about 8,000 square feet. Yeah, kind of tiny, Leeanne thought.
Snowy looked troubled, eyes wide with confusion. “But… This is the exact spot. I know it is.”
Leeanne stepped forward. “Don’t worry, we’ll look around.”
She circled the ruins with Snowy in her arms, but came up empty.
“Any idea where it is?” Leeanne turned to the old goat.
“I don’t know either, the old goat bleated, looking just as lost.
It didn’t seem like the old goat was lying, so Leeanne didn’t push further. Cradling Snowy, she left the ruins behind.
With the Sheep Whisperer Bell on her, she figured she might as well put it to use. Leeanne decided to search the area nearby to see if any sheep were nearby.
Little Blue had gone ahead to scout. Soon, it swooped back, chirping, “That way. There are tons of tasty little lambs over
there.”
Leeanne followed it east for a few minutes. Suddenly, the view opened up into a vast field of low–growing alfalfa.
Most of the alfalfa barely reached her ankles, making it look like a soft, green lawn.
There were about a dozen little lambs there.
The moment Leeanne approached, the endless bleating around her was instantly converted, thanks to her sheep bell, into. words she could understand.
Why won’t you guys believe me? I told you, there’s something weird about that ruined place,” one of the lambs bleated.
