After thinking for a while, Leeanne sent William a private message. [Don’t do anything else right now. Keep an eye on my private message. I might need something from you soon.]

She wanted William to be her backup. If she ever needed torches, ropes, or anything else, he could trade them over instantly. When she was ready, she strode confidently into the cave. The old goat was overjoyed and hurried after her.

The cave was pitch black, so Leeanne pulled out the luminous pearl. Its gentle glow filled the air, instantly brightening the

cave.

The luminous pearl’s light wasn’t bright enough. It only allowed her to see the things nearby. Anything farther away couldn’t be seen clearly. Still, it was way better than a torch.

She held the luminous pearl high and walked about 200 feet. The path ahead gradually widened, and soon they reached a larger cave.

It was roughly circular but uneven, maybe around 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. At the farthest end, a silver treasure chest lay quietly.

There it is! That’s it!the old goat said excitedly. Although it was excited, it kept its cool and just followed behind Leeanne, letting her take the lead.

Leeanne held the luminous pearl up and looked around the cave. Other than the silver treasure chest, there were only a handful of small stones scattered on the ground. The rest was just shadows, nothing else.

The whole cave was empty, with that single silver treasure chest sitting there all alone, not even a pile of junk anywhere.

Going over?the old goat asked softly.

Why don’t you go over to take a look?Leeanne shot the old goat a sideways glance.

Hey, I’m just the guide here! The old goat stepped back, as sly as ever.

Leeanne certainly wouldn’t walk over there. No way a treasure chest like that would just be sitting there without some monster lurking nearby. Moreover, she frowned, thinking to herself, Something’s off; it’s way too easy.

Would one really find the treasure chest this quickly? That Bob guy must be really sloppy, Leeanne thought to herself.

Leeanne took several steps back, and the old goat quickly followed suit. She stopped just where she could still keep an eye on the treasure chest. She placed the luminous pearl in a niche in the stone wall and set up a line of traps right at her feet.

No point digging here; it’s all stone. That’ll take forever, she thought.

The old goat suddenly realized, You think finding the treasure chest was way too easy, so you’re a bit worried?

Leeanne shot it a look. Shouldn’t I be worried?

The cave was midway up the mountain, with a small entrance. They barely took a few steps inside before hitting the treasure. This was way too easy.

Is Bob a fool?Leeanne thought to herself.

The old goat quickly explained, This cave used to be blocked by rocks, and there were pine trees and weeds everywhere. No human or beast could ever spot it.

I cleared the weeds, and had thought of moving some rocks around to make a temporary shelter. But when I dug further, I ended up finding this hidden cave.

Leeanne was surprised. Seriously? What a coincidence!

The old goat said confidently, Of course! If I didn’t have some luck, I wouldn’t have made it three hundred years!

Leeanne decided to take its word for it, but she would still keep her guard up. She gripped her whip tightly, stood behind the traps, picked up a small stone, and hurled it toward the treasure chest.

The stone whizzed through the air and struck the chest, but not a single sound came out. It was as if the stone had hit the surface of water, ripples spread out, and the treasure chest on the ground vanished along with them.

The ground was completely bare. Leeanne froze, her eyes wide in disbelief. The old goat was even more shocked, stammering, The treasure chestIt’s gone!

Suddenly, before they could process what had happened, a horde of rats swarmed out near where the chest had been. These rats were bigger than grownup cats, their gray fur bristling and their green eyes glowing with a creepy light.

They squeaked and then shot straight at Leeanne, fast as lightning. Are you kidding me? Rats this huge?Leeanne thought, her heart pounding.

Leeanne gasped, stunned. And it wasn’t just their size; there were tons of them, pouring out from where the treasure chest had been, like an unstoppable flood.

The rats came charging in, some getting scratched by the traps and squealing like crazy, but a bunch still managed to push through.

Leeanne hurriedly retreated, whipping her soft whip with loud smacks, landing hit after hit on the incoming rats. With a nasty crunch, one rat broke through and lunged right at her feet, chomping down hard on her shoe.

Fortunately, she had her invincible gear on. The rat screeched, shook its head, and spat out two broken teeth. Leeanne wasted no time, snatched up her spear, and finished it off in one clean stab.

Although there were tons of these giant rats, their attacks weren’t all that fierce, just Tier 1 or Tier 2. Leeanne’s attributes had increased a lot, so dealing with one or two was not a problem. The problem was that there were too many of them.

Leeanne hurled twelve throwing daggers in a flash, taking down twelve rats instantly, and her whip swept through even more of them. With fighting and retreating, Leeanne soon reached the cave entrance.

As soon as she got to the entrance, the rats stopped chasing and, in a blink, darted back inside. Little Blue had been lurking nearby. Seeing the chaos, it rushed over, claws flashing, and crushed a few of the slower rats.

You sneaky rats, your master’s here! Little Blue shouted, then dove straight into the cave.

Leeanne was getting a headache. The cave was way too cramped for Little Blue to move around, which was why she hadn’t brought it in. Leeanne Dillion

But now that it had already charged in, she had no choice but to follow. If she didn’t, Little Blue would end up looking like a featherless chicken in no time.

Just as Leeanne turned to head inside, suddenly, Snowy piped up from the pet pouch and said. Let me out, I want to help

you out there!

Leeanne hesitated. You sure you’re alright?

Snowy said, I’ve already taken the Blood Dew Pill. I’m now stronger than when you first met me. I can do it.

Alright. Leeanne released Snowy and charged into the cave together with it.

Inside the cave, rat corpses were scattered everywhere, covering the ground. Leeanne raced after Little Blue, finally catching up in the chaos.

Little Blue’s wings were all ruffled, cursing nonstop as it slashed at the rats swarming around it. Snowy charged ahead, and since it was inconvenient for Lecanne to swing her whip, she grabbed her spear and skewered the rats one by one.

The old goat was also prancing around, gleefully stomping rats under its hooves. After what felt like ages, the cave finally quieted down, not a single rat left alive.

Leeanne went around scooping up rat meat and teeth and grabbed all the throwing daggers she had flung earlier. After cleaning up, she headed back with her pets to the spot where the treasure chest had been.

The cave was empty; there was nothing left at all. The old goat wandered around where the chest had appeared, grumbling, No way! Where did it go?

Leeanne glanced around and said in a low voice, That was just a phamton image; there was never a real treasure chest.

When the stone hit the treasure chest earlier, it didn’t make a sound. That meant there was no real treasure chest at all, just a phantom image.

Could it be that Bob has become more careful after losing his treasure, and has moved it somewhere else, and just left a phantom image behind?Leeanne wondered.

No way. He went through all that trouble to set up this hideout!she thought to herself.

Leeanne checked every corner of the cave many times, making sure it was empty, and there was nothing left.

Did we really end up emptyhanded this time?Leeanne thought, feeling pretty bummed.

Snowy wandered around with her, glancing up and checking out the walls as they moved. All of a sudden, Snowy stopped beside a part of the stone wall. There’s something weird here.
