Chapter 132

Snowy called out to Leeanne, and she walked over to check it out.

It was still the same dull gray stone wall, but after looking closely, there seemed to be a slight difference in color from the rest. It was just a touch newer.

If she hadn’t been holding the luminous pearl and leaning in so close, she wouldn’t have noticed at all.

Leeanne felt the wall, a sudden thought sparking in her mind. She tapped it several times with her fingers.

She was still spacing out when Little Blue darted over and pecked hard at the fresherlooking wall, producing a hollow thud.

It’s hollow? There’s a passage behind here!Leeanne realized instantly.

Maybe the wall was too thick; she’d been knocking for a while and couldn’t tell a thing. But Little Blue’s peck was so strong that she could tell right away something was off.

She pulled out her iron pickaxe and started chipping away at the wall.

After digging through about three feet of stone, a sharp cracksounded as a small chunk broke off, revealing a fistsized hole.

She was almost through!

Leeanne kept at it, and after what felt like forever, she finally managed to dig a hole big enough for her to crawl through.

Under the glow of the luminous pearl, she could just make out a passageway on the other side.

Leeanne widened the opening even more, switched out the luminous pearl for a torch, stuck the torch into the stone, then grabbed the pearl again and jumped through the hole.

The passage was deep and narrow at first, but after just a few steps it began to widen, eventually reaching about six to nine feet wide and nine to twelve feet tall.

Little Blue, Snowy, and the old goat all followed her in.

Leeanne crept forward carefully, and after about ten yards, she found a set of stone stairs heading down.

After walking for a while, the tunnel suddenly made a sharp turn, and at last, the stairs stopped.

Another ten yards ahead, the tunnel opened up more and more, and soon they stepped into a spacious hall.

The hall was huge, maybe eight thousand square feet.

It was so tall that she couldn’t see the ceiling at all when she looked up.

Little Blue let out a squawk and was about to dash forward, but Leeanne quickly grabbed it and made it stay put.

Leeanne and her three companions stood at the entrance, checking out the hall.

Orange lamps were set into the stone walls, but their light was dim, leaving the hall in a shadowy gloom where she could only make out the silhouettes.

In the center of the hall stood a tall table and three stone chairs, and beneath the table, a faint glimmer of treasure could be

seen.

Leeanne crept along the wall slowly until she finally saw a silver treasure chest, just like the phantom image she’d seen before.

Other than the stone table, three stone chairs, and the treasure chest, there was nothing else in the hall.

What are you staring at? Hurry up and grab the treasure chest!the old goat urged, getting impatient.

Alright, you go open the chest,” Leeanne nodded.

The old goat shrank back, looking deflated, thinking, No way I’m going to do that.’

After taking a good look around, Leeanne slowly backed out of the hall.

There had to be some kind of beast guarding this place. She just had no idea what it might be this time.

With her invincible armor and skills, way more powerful than before, she should’ve been able to handle any beast with ease. However, she just couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

This time, Bob was way more cautious about the treasure.

Maybe the beast guarding it was really tough this time, I have to be prepared,Leeanne thought to herself, but digging traps here would be a chore

After thinking it over, Leeanne backed up a long way, all the way to the narrowest part of the exit, before finally stopping.

The narrowest part of the exit was about ten to twelve feet tall and seven to ten feet wide.

Leeanne called Little Blue over, estimated how much space it would need to squeeze through, then began stacking stones to seal up the opening.

She’d saved up plenty of stones from digging earlier, and it didn’t take long before she’d used them all up.

The opening was now only about six feet high and three feet wide, just about the size of a door.

Leeanne piled up stacks of firewood near the narrowed opening, then threw together a wooden shed around the stone door she’d just finished.

This kind of wood was super flammable. Just a spark and it’d burst into flames in seconds, burning for over half an hour.

She stacked up a ton of firewood, then set up a bunch of traps nearby. Of course, she couldn’t dig too deep, so she just made shallow holes, just enough to set the traps in.

The old goat followed her around, totally baffled by what she was doing.

Once everything was ready, Leeanne told Little Blue, Snowy, and the old goat to stay behind the traps while she went off to the hall.

The old goat quickly said, It’s too dangerous for you to go alone! I’ll come with you!

Leeanne glanced at him, thinking, This old guy clearly didn’t trust me. He’s worried I’d snatch up everything in the treasure

chest.

She nodded. Fine, you can come, but you’re on your own if anything happens.”

With that, she slipped through the stone door and headed back into the hall.

From a distance, she pulled out her horn bow, nocked an arrow, and let it fly with a sharp whooshtoward the treasure chest under the stone table.

The arrow hit the chest, bounced off, and clattered to the side, leaving a loud flapping sound lingering in the air.

A giant bat the size of a large bird swooped down from the ceiling, charging straight at Leeanne.

Its wings spread nearly three feet across, its ears were enormous, and its mouth gaped open, showing a mouthful of jagged teeth.

With a loud flapping, countless bats came pouring down from the ceiling, and the orange lamps along the stone walls flickered out one by one, leaving the hall pitch black.

All that remained was the sound of wings beating in the darkness.

As soon as Lecanne spotted the first bat, she spun around and sprinted for the exit. She slipped through the stone door, grabbed a torch, and lit the firewood piled at the entrance.

With a whoosh, the firewood caught, the flames roared to life, flooding the passage with light.

The old goat bleated in terror, bolting out after her. A stray flame singed a patch of its white fur, and it let out a painful cry.

A bat screeched and rushed through the stone door.

The bat shrieked as the flames singed its body.

Leeanne had already backed up a dozen steps, positioning herself for the best shot, and let an arrow fly.

The arrow pierced the bat’s forehead with a wet thud. It let out a final screech, fell to the ground, twitched a few times, and then lay still.

The rest of the bats came swarming in.

Even with the narrow doorway and roaring flames blocking their way, the bats were just too quick. Her arrows couldn’t keep up, and some still slipped past, flooding into the tunnel.

Little Blue flapped its wings and yelled, Oh no, what the heck did you stir up now?!

Leeanne shot back, Stop squawking and just kill them already!

Little Blue didn’t need to be told twice, it charged right in.

Five or six bats screeched and ganged up on Little Blue, swarming from every direction.

After a few rounds of fighting, Little Blue was running out of tail feathers. It started wobbling, and its strength crumbled bit by bit.

The bats were savage. One of them even yanked out one of Little Blue’s tail feathers.

That was its last tail feather. Little Blue’s tail was left totally bald.

Ah!Little Blue couldn’t keep its balance at all and stumbled onto the ground in a clumsy heap.

It had never suffered such humiliation before and started cursing like crazy. Ugly freaks, dirty rats, you nasty little monsters! Ugh, I’m gonna tear you apart and eat you!
