The Double Drop Buff Surviving The Endless Ocean novel Chapter 160

After teaching Leeanne the “Demolition Master” skill, Apprentice 23 looked at her with a proud grin. “Not bad, right?”

Leeanne nodded eagerly. “Yeah, it’s pretty cool, but…”

She tossed the cherry in her hand. “What you taught me isn’t even worth a cherry. Unless you can take me to find some Advanced wood.”

Apprentice 23 shook her head vigorously. “No way. That old man is way too scary. My master told me not to mess with him”

Leeanne asked curiously, “Which old man? What’s he got to do with it?”

Apprentice 23 shook her head. “You wouldn’t know him even if I told you.”

Leeanne let it go. No point rushing. She and Apprentice 23 weren’t that close yet, and she clearly hadn’t tempted her enough.

“Whatever, time to open some chests!‘ Leeanne thought to herself.

There weren’t many chests today–just five. Leeanne opened them one by one.

[Opened wooden chest, got 2 white towels.]

[Opened wooden chest, got 2 bars of soap.]

[Opened wooden chest, got 1 set of loungewear.]

Leeanne paused. ‘Guess it’s a home essentials day. Might as well keep going,‘ she thought.

[Opened wooden chest, got 1 remote control toy speedboat.]

‘Whoa, a toy?‘ Leeanne thought, surprised.

She was thrilled. ‘This is just what the kiddos need to have some fun!‘

She took it out.

[Remote control toy speedboat: Fast, powerful, wide remote range. A must–have for any kid.]

The speedboats were both red, way longer than your average toy–easily over a meter. Their pointed tops and sleek curves made it obvious they were built for speed.

After thinking for a moment, Leeanne had an idea. She stashed one of the remote control speedboats in her warehouse and only took out one,

She switched her wooden boat into raft mode, walked to the edge, and set the speedboat on the water. Then, holding the remote, she pressed the power button and then the forward button.

The speedboat shot off like an arrow, its tail jetting out a burst of spray, leaving a trail of white foam behind it.

As the engine roared, Leeanne was already switching between the forward, backward, left, and right buttons. The speedboat darted forward, spun sharply, and even reversed, zipping and spinning across the water with incredible agility.

The speedboat’s red and blue lights were flashing as it zipped across the water.

The kids all came running over, totally captivated.

Apprentice 23’s eyes lit up. “What is this? This is awesome!”

Leeanne showed them how to use it once, and they caught on instantly. The moment she let go of the remote, Little Blue and Apprentice 23 immediately started grabbing for it.

Apprentice 23 said, “I got it first!”

Little Blue said, “No way! My feathers touched it first!”

Apprentice 23 said, “Quit fighting! Keep it up and I’ll toss you in the stew pot!”

Little Blue shot back, “You wouldn’t dare!”

In the end, Apprentice 23’s strength won out, and she snagged the first turn with the speedboat.

With the four of them busy playing, Leeanne flopped back onto her swing chair, gently rocking as she watched the fun.

The place was noisy and lively, full of energy.

Most of the time, it was just Little Blue and Apprentice 23 arguing. Fluffy never stood a chance against them, and Snowy didn’t even care to compete.

Snowy was the one standing on the speedboat.

t just stood there, letting the speedboat race around, turn sharply, and even leap out of the water. Waves splashed all over it, out it stayed rock solid, unfazed, almost like it was surfing.

The kids were having a blast, and even Little Blue and Apprentice 23 stopped bickering.

Before she knew it, it was already noon, and Leeanne headed off to make lunch.

Since she wanted to raise Apprentice 23’s favorability, she went all out and made an extra lavish lunch.

There was spicy stir–fried squid, beef and potato stew, braised wolf meat, roast duck from yesterday’s loot, and stir–fried pinach, a feast with both meat and veggies, totally mouthwatering.

Kids were simple creatures. Give them good food and fun, and they would be ‘re happy campers. As long as they were full ind having a blast, nothing else mattered.

Once the food was on the table, Apprentice 23 sat down, blinking a little guiltily. “I’m gonna eat now, but just so you know, even after I finish, I’m not taking you to find that wood, okay?”

Leeanne nodded. “No problem, eat as much as you want.”

The portions were generous, and Apprentice 23 ate her fill, but there was still some food left over.

After finishing her meal, Apprentice 23 patted her belly. “I actually know where you can find that Advanced wood you want. It’s all on the same island, and there’s a ton of it.”

Leeanne’s eyes lit up for a second, then dimmed. She said, sounding a bit deflated, “Oh, but you’re not gonna take me there anyway.”

Leeanne suddenly realized that Apprentice 23 probably just wanted her brother to come over and mooch some food. After ill, Apprentice 49 had been drifting around all day with nothing to eat on his little boat.

Apprentice 49 blinked his big, innocent eyes, looking totally confused. “Leeanne, I don’t know how to teach anything. My master just told me to float around and make up the numbers.”

Apprentice 23 snorted. “Why did you eat her food then?”

Apprentice 23 said, “Doesn’t matter. You ate so much, you gotta do something to pay her back.”

Leeanne was speechless.

Apprentice 23 slapped her hand over Apprentice 49’s mouth. “That’s disgusting! Don’t you dare! Now, ask her if she thinks you’re useful.”

Apprentice 49 looked at Leeanne with big, teary eyes. “Am I useful?”

Leeanne felt a pang of guilt. ‘Isn’t this just picking on a kid?‘ she thought.

But then she smirked to herself. ‘Guess kids are the only ones I can mess with!

Leeanne thought it over. “I need Advanced Redbeak Wood, Advanced White Pine, Advanced Red Oak, and Advanced Yellow Teak. Can you take me to find them?”

Apprentice 49 looked at Apprentice 23, his voice trembling. “Leeanne, I really don’t want to go there. That old man is super scary!”

Apprentice 23 patted his head. “Come on, you ate all her food, so you gotta go. Off you go!”

“Okay,” Apprentice 49 sniffling and reluctantly agreed.

He looked so pitiful that Leeanne couldn’t help but feel a little protective. She leaned in and whispered to Apprentice 23, “squirt’s not gonna get hurt or anything, right?”

Apprentice 49 glanced at her, puffing up a bit. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. The real question is, do you have the guts?”

Leeanne grinned, “Me? Scared? Not a chance! Let’s roll!”

‘Getting all four types of Advanced wood in one trip? No way I’m passing that up. Worst case, I’ll just chop and dash–easy!”

Leeanne switched the raft back into wooden boat mode.

Apprentice 49 walked up to the bow, grabbed the steering wheel, and turned the boat around.

The sails were full, and the wooden boat raced ahead. Out of nowhere, Leeanne’s head spun, and when she blinked, an island was suddenly right in front of her.

The place was bursting with greenery, packed with all kinds of trees everywhere you looked.

Leeanne glanced at the clock. Only thirty minutes had gone by. She shot Apprentice 49 a look, thinking, ‘Did we just teleport or something?‘

Apprentice 49’s got some serious skills!‘ she thought.

The boat pulled up to the shore, and the sea demon vine anchored it in place. Leeanne, Apprentice 23, and the crew hopped off. Right before disembarking, she tucked Little Blue and Snowy into her pet pouch.

After walking for a bit, they spotted a stone path up ahead.

Just a few minutes later, they stumbled upon a grove of Advanced White Pine trees–each one tall, sturdy, and evenly spaced,

“Shh!” Apprentice 23 put a finger to her lips and whispered to Leeanne, “All the Advanced wood is right here. Some old guy planted them, so if we’re gonna swipe some, we better not let him catch us.”
