The Double Drop Buff Surviving The Endless Ocean novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190

The little seal was so frightened by Leeanne’s words that it forgot to cry.

It stared at Leeanne in a daze, fear written all over its face.

Leeanne reached out and rubbed its round head, musing, I wonder if its brain is edible

The little seal finally cried out, No, no, don’t cat!

It was scared out of its wits.

Leeanne looked at the little seal, its face covered in tears and snot, and finally felt a wave of relief wash over her.

This sly little seal needs a taste of how ruthless humans can be,she thought.

Maeve rushed over, her eyes wide with surprise as she stared at the little seal. Wait, is this a baby seal? Why does it look so different from the usual ones?

Leeanne replied, Yeah, isn’t it adorable?

Maeve beamed, her face full of smiles. Adorable, seriously! Leeanne, you look even thinner than before. How about I clean this little guy up, skin it, chop it into pieces, and whip up a stirfry for you? I never tried cooking seal meat before!

Leeanne fell silent.

Maeve was way more hardcore.

Leeanne was just teasing the little seal, but Maeve might actually mean it.

When the little seal saw Maeve’s cheerful face, it finally relaxed a bit and stopped crying. But after hearing Maeve’s words, it froze for a moment, then its cries grew even louder. No, no, please don’t eat me!

This little seal can only blurt out two words at a time. Its language skills are even worse than how Little Blue was when she first started talking,Leeanne thought.

The seal’s cries grew shrill, and Leeanne just couldn’t stand it anymore.

She slapped her harpoon with a sharp crack and barked, Shut up!

The little seal flinched, instantly falling silent, not daring to make a peep. Its glossy black eyes brimmed with tears as it gazed at Leeanne, looking utterly miserable.

Leeanne demanded, Got any other treasures? Give them to me. I don’t want this pearl’s trash!

The little seal squeaked, No!

Leeanne snorted, Yeah, right. If that’s all you’ve got, guess I’ll just steam you for lunch.

She glanced up at the sun. Almost noon. It’s better start steaming you now, or we won’t make it in time.

The little seal wailed, No! No! Don’t!

Leeanne pressed, Then what are you going to do about it?

The little seal pointed desperately at the sea with its right paw, tears streaming down its face as it sobbed, Go get it! Go get

it!

Leeanne nodded. Alright!

The Sea Demon Vine asked, puzzled, Aren’t you worried it might trick you or just run off and never return?

Leeanne said, I’m not worried!

She took out the box of blue phosphorescent shrimp and showed it to the little seal. Go get it. If you bring me what I want, you get shrimp.”

The little seal’s eyes instantly lit up, and it nodded eagerly.

The Sea Demon Vine let go of the little seal, and it immediately rolled off the raft and darted away.

Leeanne didn’t bother chasing after it. The little seal had been scared enough, and that was good enough for her. She definitely didn’t want to keep it around, otherwise she’d be stuck feeding it.

Honestly, she just couldn’t bring herself to eat it or even smack it. It was way too adorable. She simply couldn’t do it.

Leeanne still had two more shots at using her Fortune’s Favorskill. She eyed the three random scraps on the table, deep in thought.

Which one should I go for?Leeanne wondered.

Maybe I should try fixing the laptop in my gym bag?Leeanne wondered.

Nah, that laptop’s from the real world. It’s lowtier and doesn’t have much potential. The stuff in this game world is full of weird and wonderful things!

Besides, even if she fixed it, it wouldn’t be much use. She hardly used it for entertainment, mostly just for work stuff and study materials. The only movies or shows on it were a couple her classmates had downloaded when they borrowed it.

Maybe I should try fixing that tornup piece of paper?Leeanne thought.

Nah, that’s no good either. It’s so blurry I can’t even tell what it is. Honestly, it looks exactly like the paper Apprentice 49 always uses for her rambling notes. What if I fix it and it’s just another one of her boring essays?

Forget it, not worth the risk,Leeanne decided.

She picked up the bone again. It was just an ordinary bone, covered in grime. Leeanne didn’t dare wash it, worried she might scrub off something important.

The bone was about the length and thickness of her forearm, a little curved, with knobby bits and jagged nubs along the sides.

Even if she fixed it, it probably wouldn’t even count as a weapon.

After thinking it over, Leeanne set the bone aside and picked up the plastic bead instead.

This plastic bead was a total eyesore. Only half of it remained after being dropped.

It looked pretty cheap.

Maybe I should give it a shot?Leeanne thought.

Might as well see if the little seal actually handed over a treasure or just tried to fool me. If it turns out to be nothing but a regular plastic bead, that seal’s definitely a little liar!Leeanne thought.

Leeanne made up her mind in a flash. She grabbed the halfbead and headed straight for the crafting table.

Unknown bead: Just a bead, round, blue, and transparent. Who knows what it’s for? Maybe it’s just a plastic bead? Maybe you should just throw it away?]

[Fortune’s Favor is active today! Want to use it to repair this item?]

“Yes!Leeanne replied.

[Repair successful! You’ve obtained a WaterRepelling Pearl!]

WaterRepelling Pearl? Wait, is this really the legendary WaterRepelling Pearl?

Leeanne’s eyes sparkled as she snatched it up for a closer look.

The bead was a light blue, about the size of a ping pong ball, glowing with a gentle phosphorescence and shimmering with what looked like tiny waves inside. It was worlds apart from the cheap plastic junk it had been before.

Just holding it, Leeanne could feel the aura of pure luxury. It totally screamed treasure.

[WaterRepelling Pearl: A magical bead that can carve out a dry space underwater. Inside, there’s no water, no pressure, and you don’t have to worry about oxygen. This is a legendary treasure. You’re rolling in luck!]

Whoa, it really is the legendary WaterRepelling Pearl!Leeanne thought, her heart pounding with excitement.

With this thing, does that mean I can just stroll around underwater like it’s nothing?Leeanne wondered, her mind racing with possibilities.

She couldn’t wait to give it a try.

But then she remembered all the warnings about how dangerous the sea could be in this game. She quickly calmed herself down and decided to stash it away for now. She’d test it out when the time was right.

The bead was gorgeous, and it felt cool and smooth in her hand. Leeanne couldn’t help but fiddle with it for ages, just admiring how amazing it was.

Leeanne, come on, lunch is ready!Maeve called out, having just finished making lunch.

Leeanne finally tucked the WaterRepelling Pearl into her backpack and went to eat.

After lunch, she loaded the dishes into the dishwasher as usual, chatted with Maeve for a bit, then coaxed her upstairs to take a nap.

Maeve had kept herself busy all morning.

She’d arrived just after nine, and by the time lunch was over, it was almost three. She hadn’t taken a break the whole time.

Even though Maeve usually liked staying busy, Leeanne still managed to convince her to go rest for a while.

Suddenly, Leeanne remembered something. Grandma, can you check your own profile?

Profile?Maeve looked puzzled.

Yeah!Leeanne noticed Maeve had a watch on her wrist too.

She showed Maeve how to open the watch, but there was no crafting option. Maeve would need Leeanne’s permission to use the crafting table or build anything.

Then she taught Maeve how to check her personal information.

Maeve’s profile popped up on the screen.

ID: XY99802

Name: Maeve Dillion

Age: 70

Strength: 8

Agility: 7

Constitution: 5

Class: None

Skills: None

Available Attribute Points: 3

Leeanne glanced at Maeve’s stats, then thought back to her own starting numbers and felt a bit embarrassed.

Grandma’s strength and agility are actually pretty decent?Leeanne thought.

That made sense. Her grandparents were always out in the garden, taking care of the dogs and chickens. Every night, Maeve would round up all the chickens and chase them into the

coop. No wonder she was so fast.

They grew up doing farm work, so of course they were strong.

But since she’s older now, her constitution was still a bit on the low side.

Maeve had already eaten three cherries, which gave her three attribute points to spend. After thinking it over, Leeanne suggested she invest all of them in constitution.

After chatting with Maeve for a bit, Leeanne made her way downstairs, ready for whatever came next.

She still had one last chance to use her Fortune’s Favorskill.

The first time she used Fortune’s Favor, she scored a Refined Iron Harpoon. The second time, she landed a WaterRepelling Pearl. Both Fortune’s Favors had paid off big time.

Now, she was itching to use her last shot.

On the table, there was still a scrap of paper and a bone. From the looks of things, the paper seemed to have more potential.

But honestly, the bone wasn’t so bad either.

Whatever, I’ll just pick one at random. Let’s go with the paper. Maybe it’ll turn out to be some kind of secret manual, Leeanne thought.
