The little seal was so frightened by Leeanne’s words that it forgot to cry.

It stared at Leeanne in a daze, fear written all over its face.

Leeanne reached out and rubbed its round head, musing, “I wonder if its brain is edible…”

The little seal finally cried out, “No, no, don’t cat!”

It was scared out of its wits.

Leeanne looked at the little seal, its face covered in tears and snot, and finally felt a wave of relief wash over her.

Maeve rushed over, her eyes wide with surprise as she stared at the little seal. “Wait, is this a baby seal? Why does it look so different from the usual ones?”

Leeanne replied, “Yeah, isn’t it adorable?”

Maeve beamed, her face full of smiles. “Adorable, seriously! Leeanne, you look even thinner than before. How about I clean this little guy up, skin it, chop it into pieces, and whip up a stir–fry for you? I never tried cooking seal meat before!”

Leeanne fell silent.

Maeve was way more hardcore.

Leeanne was just teasing the little seal, but Maeve might actually mean it.

When the little seal saw Maeve’s cheerful face, it finally relaxed a bit and stopped crying. But after hearing Maeve’s words, it froze for a moment, then its cries grew even louder. “No, no, please don’t eat me!”

‘This little seal can only blurt out two words at a time. Its language skills are even worse than how Little Blue was when she first started talking,‘ Leeanne thought.

The seal’s cries grew shrill, and Leeanne just couldn’t stand it anymore.

She slapped her harpoon with a sharp crack and barked, “Shut up!”

The little seal flinched, instantly falling silent, not daring to make a peep. Its glossy black eyes brimmed with tears as it gazed at Leeanne, looking utterly miserable.

Leeanne demanded, “Got any other treasures? Give them to me. I don’t want this pearl’s trash!”

The little seal squeaked, “No!”

Leeanne snorted, “Yeah, right. If that’s all you’ve got, guess I’ll just steam you for lunch.”

She glanced up at the sun. “Almost noon. It’s better start steaming you now, or we won’t make it in time.”

The little seal wailed, “No! No! Don’t!”

Leeanne pressed, “Then what are you going to do about it?”

The little seal pointed desperately at the sea with its right paw, tears streaming down its face as it sobbed, “Go get it! Go get

it!”

Leeanne nodded. “Alright!”

The Sea Demon Vine asked, puzzled, “Aren’t you worried it might trick you or just run off and never return?”

Leeanne said, “I’m not worried!”

She took out the box of blue phosphorescent shrimp and showed it to the little seal. “Go get it. If you bring me what I want, you get shrimp.”

The little seal’s eyes instantly lit up, and it nodded eagerly.

The Sea Demon Vine let go of the little seal, and it immediately rolled off the raft and darted away.

Leeanne didn’t bother chasing after it. The little seal had been scared enough, and that was good enough for her. She definitely didn’t want to keep it around, otherwise she’d be stuck feeding it.

Honestly, she just couldn’t bring herself to eat it or even smack it. It was way too adorable. She simply couldn’t do it.

Leeanne still had two more shots at using her “Fortune’s Favor” skill. She eyed the three random scraps on the table, deep in thought.

Which one should I go for?‘ Leeanne wondered.

‘Maybe I should try fixing the laptop in my gym bag?‘ Leeanne wondered.

‘Nah, that laptop’s from the real world. It’s low–tier and doesn’t have much potential. The stuff in this game world is full of weird and wonderful things!‘

Besides, even if she fixed it, it wouldn’t be much use. She hardly used it for entertainment, mostly just for work stuff and study materials. The only movies or shows on it were a couple her classmates had downloaded when they borrowed it.

‘Maybe I should try fixing that torn–up piece of paper?‘ Leeanne thought.

‘Nah, that’s no good either. It’s so blurry I can’t even tell what it is. Honestly, it looks exactly like the paper Apprentice 49 always uses for her rambling notes. What if I fix it and it’s just another one of her boring essays?‘

‘Forget it, not worth the risk,‘ Leeanne decided.

She picked up the bone again. It was just an ordinary bone, covered in grime. Leeanne didn’t dare wash it, worried she might scrub off something important.

The bone was about the length and thickness of her forearm, a little curved, with knobby bits and jagged nubs along the sides.

Even if she fixed it, it probably wouldn’t even count as a weapon.

After thinking it over, Leeanne set the bone aside and picked up the plastic bead instead.

This plastic bead was a total eyesore. Only half of it remained after being dropped.

It looked pretty cheap.

She couldn’t wait to give it a try.

But then she remembered all the warnings about how dangerous the sea could be in this game. She quickly calmed herself down and decided to stash it away for now. She’d test it out when the time was right.

The bead was gorgeous, and it felt cool and smooth in her hand. Leeanne couldn’t help but fiddle with it for ages, just admiring how amazing it was.

“Leeanne, come on, lunch is ready!” Maeve called out, having just finished making lunch.

Leeanne finally tucked the Water–Repelling Pearl into her backpack and went to eat.

After lunch, she loaded the dishes into the dishwasher as usual, chatted with Maeve for a bit, then coaxed her upstairs to take a nap.

Maeve had kept herself busy all morning.
