[Ocean Bell: When you wear this bell, you can comprehend the speech of any marine creature. Note: You can listen, but you can’t talk back.]
Leeanne suddenly found a tiny golden bell in her hand, designed like an earring.
‘Huh…? If a guy got the first–kill reward, would he have to wear a bell earring, too?‘ Leeanne thought, feeling a bit confused by the reward.
Leeanne pinched the tiny carring between her fingers, hesitated for a moment, then slipped it onto her left ear.
She had pierced ears. Her grandma had pierced them for her when she was a kid, but she hadn’t worn earrings in forever.
Once the earring was on, she dove into the sea. Instantly, a chorus of voices filled her ears.
“Everyone, charge! Line up, let’s go. Time to form an S–shape.”
“Whoa, you’re crowding me. Stick to the formation, alright?”
“Your fins scraped me!”
Those dumb fish have been swimming in circles for ages. There aren’t any sharks here anymore, dummy!”
“I want my mom. Have you guys seen her?”
A jumble of voices came at her from every direction, some loud, some soft, but the loudest were the little fish swimming past, arguing noisily as they went.
Leeanne concentrated and quickly got the hang of using the Ocean Bell.
She could pick and choose what to listen to, tune in to any direction she liked, and mute anything she didn’t care about.
Once Leeanne got used to Ocean Bell, she finally noticed a flood of private messages popping up from Rodger, Danelle, Emmett, Enrique, and a bunch of others.
In the Assault Squad chat, Emmett was practically losing it. [Leeanne, first kill again. You got another first kill. That’s nuts!]
Rodger: [Congrats!]
Danelle: [Oh, my god, Leeanne. Did you do it solo? That’s insane! Rodger and I saw the shark’s shadow and scrambled back to the boat. It almost got my leg bitten off. I was scared out of my mind!]
Leeanne just noticed that another announcement had gone out.
[World Announcement: Player Leeanne Dillion has achieved the first kill of a Tier 3 marine creature, the mutated great white shark! First–kill reward 1: 1 Constitution, I Strength, 1 Agility. First–kill reward 2: Ocean**]
The announcement was repeated three times.
Leeanne let out a breath of relief. ‘Nice, the game kept Ocean Bell under wraps, she thought.
She checked her stats:

Meanwhile, the chat channel was blowing up.
[Leeanne again! She did it. Another first kill!]

[That’s insane! She actually took down a great white shark. Those teeth are like steel blades. My legs would turn to jelly just seeing it.]
[Man, I feel weirdly proud. First kills always happen in District 33, never changes.]
[I used to be from District 35, but now I’m a District 33 local. Guess I can show off a bit, too.]
[Gotta admit, Leeanne is seriously OP!]
[Does anyone know what that Ocean** is? Why’s it censored?]
[Yeah, it’s locked. Privacy protection and all, lol!]
[Wait, did Leeanne get the whole Ocean Explorer Set already? That’s crazy hard. And seriously, how could a harpoon possibly take down a great white shark?]
Bailey: [Leeanne, is there some trick to taking down a great white shark? You must have some secret, right?]
Jared: [Yeah, I agree. You can’t just muscle your way through a great white. My master, my junior sister, and I all tried. No way we could do it.]
Emmett: [You can’t judge Leeanne by normal standards. She’s way beyond what you think is possible.]
Bailey: [But I still feel like there’s gotta be some kind of trick to it.]
Danelle: [If you think there’s a trick, go and figure it out yourself.]
Leeanne didn’t bother checking the chat. She put on her breathing mask and dove back into the sea.
She was planning to explore the coral again.
Just as she dove in, a game announcement flashed across her screen.
[To help players gather resources, the Coral Island instance is now open. Inside, one’ll discover unique treasures, exotic

[Note 1: There are three entrances to the Coral Island instance. Hurry and find the entrances. Don’t miss your chance. The Coral Island instance will close in three days.]
[Note 2: One can form parties with other players on Coral Island, but only after one’s been on the island for three hours.]
[Good luck and have fun!]
As soon as the announcement dropped, the players went wild.
[Finally, the game did something right. They opened up an instance.]
[Did you see that? Loads of resources, rare fruits, and unique treasures. Coral Island is looking pretty sweet.]
[Where are the entrances? They expect us to find them on our own. How are we supposed to pull that off?]
[And it closes in three days. So if nobody finds the Coral Island instance in time, it’s locked forever, and nobody gets in.]
Exactly! This game is so sneaky. It’s driving me nuts.]
Thap proves Coral Island has to be amazing. There’s gotta be loads of good stuff in there. We can’t miss out.]
Leeanne’s eyes went wide.
She thought, ‘No wonder! Coral Island wasn’t even open before. Now that it’s open, then…‘
She quickly packed up her gear and called out to Little Blue and Snowy, who were messing around nearby, “Come on, hop nto the Pet Pouch. Let’s go hunt for some tasty treats.”
Little Blue’s eyes lit up. “Seriously? Really?”
This time, Little Blue dashed into the Pet Pouch before anyone else could react.
Dragging Little Blue and Snowy along, Leeanne plunged into the water and raced straight for that mysterious coral grove,
In no time, she was there. Kicking her way through the waves, Leeanne slipped into the winding coral trail.
After swimming for a bit, she reached the air barrier again.
But this time, the air barrier had turned into a swirling vortex of black mist. In the pitch–black water, if it weren’t for her diving light, no one would have even noticed it.
Leeanne stood in front of the swirling portal, her heart pounding with excitement.
