Chapter 259
Leeanne checked Little Blue’s info.
Red–Billed Blue Magpic: Bluejay bloodline, upgradable, Tier 5 variant (temporarily evolved).
Skill 1: Rapid Claw Strike (Upgraded Rapid Claw Strike, hits like a truck!)
Skill 2: Lingering Echo has evolved into Heavenly Melody (Now attacks with music, can mess with enemies‘ minds.)
Skill 3: Morph at Will (Change size whenever it wants!)
Little Blue’s first two skills had gotten a huge upgrade.
It let out a long, piercing cry, its seven tail feathers bursting into dazzling colors. It threw back its head and belted out, actually singing a sweet, twisting melody.
Leeanne didn’t feel anything, but the man–eating shark started moving sluggishly, looking totally out of it.
‘Alright, that’s good. I might as well take it out now, Leeanne thought. ‘Now’s the time!‘
She flung out the shark net, trapping the man–eating shark. Then, she burst out of the water, her Water Treading Boots kicking in, letting her dash across the surface.
She tossed the shark net to Snowy, then grabbed the Silver–Horned Bow, loaded up three Feather Arrows, and fired them in quick succession. Wth three soft “thwip” sounds, they all nailed the man–eating shark.
One of them was a Rapid Feather Arrow, laced with poison, and after it struck, the shark started bleeding nonstop.
The Feather Arrows hit hard. The man–eating shark cried out in pain, realized things were going south, and dove straight into the water, trying to escape.
But with Little Blue’s song echoing all around, the shark was moving way slower than usual.
Leeanne dove in, pulled out her Harpoon Launcher, and kept up the assault.
Snowy gripped the shark net tight, letting the man–eating shark thrash wildly as it struggled.
The shark net’s two skills were activated, and the pain was unbearable. The man–eating shark writhed in agony, thrashing even harder.
It struggled and fled.
Now that it was badly wounded, all that was left for Leeanne to do was to wait for it to exhaust itself.
Leeanne wiped the sweat from her brow and stole a glance at the chat screen beside her.
‘Crap, the Cloudship Song Gala’s about to kick off,‘ she thought.
Emmett, Rodger, and the rest were spamming her with urgent messages.
[Why isn’t Leeanne here yet? She’s got the highest affection meter. Is she really just going to bail?]
[Didn’t she say she ran into a Tier 4 Man–Eating Shark and can’t make it? What a shame!]

[Eh, no big deal. There’s always new talent popping up. Bailey is here, isn’t she? With her around, the rest of us don’t really stand a chance anyway.]
[What, you’re just gonna ignore Ronald?]
[Alright, alright, I still hope Leeanne shows up. She’s got the highest affection meter, so she’s the easiest to get to 60.]
[Bailey’s no slouch either. Her luck’s off the charts, and she might even surpass Leeanne soon. Don’t just focus on one person. Let the younger folks have a chance!]
Emmet sneered, [Ha, so being in your twenties counts as old now? Then what are we, ancient? Should we lie down and retire already?]
Rodger echoed, [Well, guess I’m old too!]
Danelle chimed in, [Age doesn’t matter. If you’ve got what it takes, go for it. Just keep it clean, no shady tricks!]
Valentine agreed, [Exactly!]
In the Assault Squad group chat, Emmett kept spamming. [Leeanne, you’re fighting a man–eating shark? Hurry up, summon Gideon and me!]
Rodger chimed in, [We can join in too. We’ve got plenty of people!]
Leeanne watched as the man–eating shark was finally losing strength. [All done!] she replied.
Emmett asked, [All done? Awesome! Get over here, quick!]
Danelle added, [Oh no, only three minutes left! Leeanne, hurry!]
Leeanne checked the timer. ‘Seriously? Only three minutes left? Eh, whatever. I’ll head out before the shark even kicks the bucket, she thought.
She quickly tidied up, about to call Little Blue over, when she noticed the man–eating shark had finally stopped thrashing.
[You’ve slain a Tier 4 Man–Eating Shark. Harvest its materials?]
“Yes,” Leeanne replied.
[Obtained shark meat x20, shark skin x2, shark teeth x20. All added to your backpack.]
Leeanne let out a sigh of relief and turned to leave, but then she noticed a small treasure chest slowly materializing where the man–eating shark’s body had been.
‘No way I’m letting a treasure chest slip by,‘ she thought.
So she hurried over and popped it open.
[You opened the treasure chest and got one Bad Luck Card.]
‘What even is this?‘ Leeanne wondered.
[Bad Luck Card: Only usable on players in this district. Use it on someone and their luck tanks. They’ll be cursed, way more likely to run into hurricanes, sharks, and all kinds of disasters. Lasts 3 hours. One use only.]
Leeanne’s expression darkened. ‘So this thing actually exists? Was all my bad luck earlier because someone hit me with a Bad

She snorted inwardly.

She had a pretty good guess who was behind it, but now wasn’t the time to worry about that. Getting to the Cloudship Song Gala took priority.
She tucked Snowy into her Pet Pouch and beckoned to Little Blue. “Let’s go, Little Blue, time to take off!”
Little Blue chirped excitedly, “Got it!”
It swooped down, and Leeanne vaulted onto its back. The little shell also began to drift forward, swaying gently.
Sure enough, she didn’t need a raft. Riding her mount worked just fine.
Little Blue was very fast. It flew swiftly, and the little shell flew swiftly too, so they traveled at great speed and soon arrived at the Cloudship Song Gala.
Meanwhile, everyone at the Cloudship Song Gala was getting pretty anxious.
How the mission turned out mattered to everyone. Just seven or eight groups were hanging around to watch, but the real focus was on the top three.

three were the real stars here.
After Valentine ran into a man–eating shark, nobody knew if he’d make it out alive, and Leeanne couldn’t make it either. That left only Ronald, Bailey, Gideon, and Danelle.
But since Gideon had dropped out, Danelle had to take his place.
Danelle was freaking out. “Look, I’m really just an average singer. What if my singing sucks and the prince gets annoyed?”
Rodger said, “Come on, you’re not seriously thinking about quitting, are you? Just give it your best shot.”
Danelle muttered, “Leeanne, hurry up! I really don’t want to sing. I’m hopeless at this.”
The girl in seventh place was about to burst into tears. She was still a student, from a region where academic pressure was insane, always cramming for exams, barely any time to even think about singing.
The eighth–place contestant didn’t stand a chance either.
