Chapter 268
:
Leeanne immediately said, “Quick, lock on and track it!”

Snowy had already set it up. On the Omni–Radar, the Little Seal showed up as a red dot, darting around at top speed.
Leeanne lit up. “Chase it!”
‘Figures, it’s just a little one. So easy to fool,‘ she thought.
Leeanne got all her gear ready, including the Water–Repelling Pearl, just waiting for the perfect chance to dive
The raft sped after the Little Seal, never letting up.
The Little Seal was way too fast for them to catch, but luckily, it stayed within the radar’s range.
Eventually, the Little Seal stopped moving. Leeanne’s raft had to chase for another half hour before finally catching up to where it was.
During that stretch, the Little Seal barely budged, so it must’ve been hanging out in one spot–no telling what it was up to.
As soon as the raft reached the spot, Leeanne plunged into the water with a splash.
Even though she was wearing two sets of clothes with some insulation, she still shivered from the cold.
‘Man, the water’s getting colder by the day. No idea if I’ll even be able to dive tomorrow, Leeanne thought.
She loosened up her arms and legs, and once she got used to the cold water, Leeanne dove in headfirst.
The Little Seal was right beneath her.
She swam for what felt like forever, and finally, Leeanne heard the Little Seal wailing, “Please don’t die!”
‘Wait, what’s dying?‘ Leeanne thought.
Startled, she hurried over as fast as she could.
She spotted the Little Seal, who was clinging to a baby walrus with a broken tusk, whimpering pitifully.
The baby walrus looked injured, blood bubbling up in spurts from its wounds.
The Little Seal wailed, “Go find Leeanne!”
Leeanne spun around and quickly hid behind a thick cluster of coral, peeking out to check things over.
There was only the baby walrus here—no mermaid anywhere. ‘So the Little Seal was just meeting up with the baby walrus?‘ Leeanne thought, puzzled.

Chapter 268
By then, the Little Seal was crying and nudging the baby walrus toward the surface.
It moved so fast that when Leeanne came to her senses, both the Little Seal and the baby walrus were already
gone.
Leeanne searched the area for quite some time, but found nothing, so she finally swam back up to the
surface.
When she got back to the raft, the Little Seal was pacing nervously, waiting for her.
The baby walrus with the broken tusk was sprawled out on the deck, whimpering in pain.
As soon as the Little Seal spotted Leeanne, it darted over, crying, “Please, help! Pleaser
Leeanne glanced at the baby walrus. “You want me to save it? But… my healing salve is really valuable. I can’t just use it so easily, you know!”
The Little Seal kept pleading, “Please, help! L… I’ll even give up my blue phosphorescent shrimp?
“That’s a real sacrifice. It’s actually willing to give up its favorite blue phosphorescent shrimp just to save the baby walrus, Leeanne thought. At least it’s got a bit of a conscience.
Afraid the baby walrus wouldn’t last much longer, Leeanne went over to check its injuries.
There was a massive hook jammed into its side, with a bit of rope still dangling from it. It looked like the poor thing had gotten caught, and something must’ve chewed through the rope to help it escape.
Leeanne carefully removed the hook, and blood poured out of the wound, almost like a fountain.
The baby walrus whimpered in pain, and the Little Seal rushed to comfort it.
The wound was massive, and Leeanne had to use several jars of healing salve before she finally managed to seal it up.
Seeing the bleeding had stopped, Leeanne sat down on the deck, wiping sweat from her brow.
Only then did she finally have a chance to take a look at the hook she’d just pulled out.
It was a huge iron hook, and on it were the words: “Seal Hunter Squad.”
‘Wait, that’s right,‘ Leeanne thought. ‘When I saved the Little Seal’s friend, the manta ray, the hook stuck in it was from the Seal Hunter Squad too.
‘Did they get hurt trying to protect the Little Seal?‘ Leeanne wondered.
‘Is someone really out there hunting seals?‘ she thought, her heart sinking.
‘Geez, that Little Seal’s got it rough. If it didn’t have so many friends watching its back, it probably would’ve ended up as someone’s dinner by now, Leeanne mused.
Leeanne tossed the iron hook onto the deck and asked the Little Seal, “Is someone out to get you?”

The Little Seal wailed incoherently, blurting out random stuff as it cried.

The baby walrus, now looking much better, propped itself up on its front flippers, lifted its head with pride, and declared, “Little Seals taste great! Everybody loves eating them!”
Leeanne replied, “Oh!”
She gave the Little Seal a teasing look. “Is it really that delicious?”
‘Seals are so fat. Aren’t they just a bunch of blubber? Who’d even want to eat that stuff?‘ Leeanne thought.
‘Or maybe this little guy is some kind of legendary meat, like eating it gives you special powers or something?” she joked to herself.
The Little Seal shrank back, hugging itself with its front flippers, its little black eyes wide with panic. “No, it’s not good! It’s not good!”
Leeanne teased the Little Seal for a bit, but her mind was weighed down with worry.
‘The Little Seal went off to find the baby walrus… but is there really a mermaid out there?‘ Leeanne wondered.
She turned to the table and rinsed her hands off.
She overheard the baby walrus whisper behind her, “Where’s Seaweed?”
Leeanne’s ears pricked up, curious.
The Little Seal whimpered, “It took off.”
‘Seaweed? Could that be the mermaid?‘ Leeanne wondered.
Leeanne turned to the Little Seal and asked, “Little guy, is it just you two? Did the Seal Hunter Squad kill any of your other friends?”
She nudged the iron hook with her foot. “This thing’s pretty dangerous. Maybe some of your other friends got hurt by it too.”
The Little Seal’s eyes were filled with worry and hesitation.
Leeanne said, “Maybe some of your other friends got badly hurt, and nobody’s there to help them. For all we know, they might already be gone.”
She turned away after saying that.
The baby walrus whispered urgently, “Go check on Seaweed, quick! I remember it was bleeding too.”
Leeanne grinned to herself. ‘Lucky for me I can actually understand what these sea creatures are saying,‘ she thought.
She’d just finished washing her hands when Snowy suddenly walked over. “Leeanne, the Little Seal took off again, but we’ve still got its location. Should we chase it?”
