A person wrote: [Didn’t Emmett mention this earlier? He spotted an island today, used the Summon Token to gather his crew, and they all headed over together. They must be back already.]

Emmett: [We’re back!]

Someone asked: [So, any good loot?]

Emmett: [Not bad!]

Someone wasn’t satisfied. [Come on, Emmett, don’t be so vague. What really happened? Spill it!]

Emmett just kept quiet.

Shirley: [Anyone want the Summon Token?]

Rodger: [I do!]

Myron: [I want it!]

Leeanne: [I’ll take it!]

The three of them shouted almost in unison. Their answers were barely a heartbeat apart.

Myron got flustered. [Leeanne, why are you butting in? I called it first, the token’s mine!]

Rodger shot back. [Well, I said it before you, so shouldn’t I get it?]

Besides those three, tons of people started asking for it.

The Summon Token was seriously soughtafter.

In the past couple of days, tons of people had already banded together, mostly with family, siblings, friends, or coworkers, plus a few heavy hitters to round things out.

Even though they were teammates, all they could do was chat in small groups and make plans, no way to meet up in person.

So if they could use the Summon Token to explore an island together, it’d be the perfect chance to hone their teamwork and build some real chemistry.

Also, the bigger the team, the better their chances of running into an island. More people meant more hands on deck, and way more loot to go around.

Shirley hadn’t expected so many people to want it. After thinking it over, she wrote: [Alright, let’s auction it off. Everyone, tell me what you’re willing to trade, and I’ll take a look.]

Rodger asked in the chat: [So, how do we make our bids?]

Leeanne replied: [Let’s wait and see for now. I feel like there shouldn’t be so few Summon Tokens out there]

The Summon Token could only summon one person at a time.

In the chat, everyone was tossing out their bids like crazy, and Leeanne was keeping an eye on what cool stuff people had to

offer.

Shirley was eliminating bidders one after another. As the stakes got higher, fewer people could stay in the game.

Some of the things people offered were downright bizarre. Someone even tried bidding with a small bag of beans, and the crowd instantly burst out laughing.

Shirley booted him out too.

But Leeanne’s eyes lit up. She’d been glued to the chat, just waiting for a steal. While everyone else thought beans were useless, she knew they were pure gold.

After planting those beans in the mystical cherry grove, and once they matured, she could sprout them, whip up tofu and soy milk. She’d have a whole feast to choose from.

She immediately sent the guy a private message. [Are you selling those beans? What do you want for them?]

Anthony Burrows replied: [Yeah, I’m selling. What are you offering?]

Leeanne asked: [What kind of stuff are you looking for?]

Anthony suddenly put two and two together. [Wait, you’re Leeanne? Oh, sweet! I want a piece of beef and two strawberries or the beans. Sound good?]

Leeanne replied: [Deal!]

Anthony wasn’t trying to jack up the price, and she wasn’t about to fuss over it. Those soybean seeds were exactly what she needed.

They made the trade on the spot, and once it was done, he asked, You really know how to grow stuff, huh?

Leeanne replied, Yeah!

Anthony got super hyped. [You can actually grow stuff here? That’s insane! I’m gonna turn my raft into a fullblown veggie arm, beans, corn, wheat, cucumbers, millet, sorghum, fava beans, peas, you name it!]

Leeanne was stunned. Sorghum too? This guy’s wild, she thought.

She asked: [You really know how to grow all that?]

He replied: (Of course! I’m a master of agriculture, and my family runs a farm. I’ve grown pretty much everything!!

Leeanne: [Wow, you really know your stuff! Got any advice for planting beans?]

He jumped right in. (Beans are super easy. Just make sure to leave enough space between each plant, like]

He just kept talking, totally on a roll, for a whole half hour.

Leeanne paid close attention, and even threw in a question about strawberries. He broke it all down for her, step by step

They chatted for a good thirty minutes, and he spilled all his secrets, holding nothing back. Leeanne picked up a ton of planting hacks.

Leeanne was genuinely touched. [Thanks a ton! Is it cool if I ask you for help in the future!!

He replied: [Sure thing, anytime!]

They sent each other friend requests and hit accept

Anthony was already in his thirties and had been out of school for years. From what he said, he was basically a walking encyclopedia and a farming expert.

Leeanne felt relieved. Scored some beans and a farming guru, pretty sweet deal, she thought.

Leeanne headed into the mystical cherry grove, got those beans planted, made sure they had a good drink, and then hopped back out.

Rodger: [The auction’s almost over. The Garcia brothers are really throwing their weight around. It looks like the Summon Token’s theirs. I’ll jump in at the last second, though.]

Leeanne: [Sounds good!]

In the chat, Myron started throwing threats around. [Anyone still trying to outbid us, you’d better think about your own strength.

[If you don’t want to end up on our hit list during the island hunt, just back out now!

After Myron and his crew’s warning, a bunch of people dropped out.

Honestly, even if they won the Summon Token, chances were that they would never get to use it. With only a few days left, the odds of finding an island was quite small.

In the end, Myron was the last one left. He offered up 300 pieces of wood, 300 nails, a blueprint for a table and a chair, 10 bottles of water, and three bass.

Myron: [Shirley, hurry up and make the deal. Why are you taking forever?]

Shirley: [No, I’m not stalling. Had a stomachache, had to lie down for a bit. Anyone else still bidding?]

Myron: [Enough already. That’s a ton of stuff. If you keep dragging this out, don’t blame me if I come after you during the island hunt.”

Shirley: [You’re crazy. Always with the threats!]

Leeanne: [Wait up, I’m throwing in my bid]
