Rodger froze for a split second, then sprang into action as the boar came crashing down. He leaped onto its back and drove his dagger downward.
It sank deep into the boar’s neck.
The boar let out a furious roar, rolled over, and sent Rodger flying.
Rodger rolled with the fall and sprang back to his feet.
Leeanne nocked an arrow and shouted, “Rodger, get over here!”
Rodger sprang over with a single bound.
In that split second, Leeanne let loose a volley of arrows. Every single one found its mark, sinking deep or shallow into the Joar’s flesh.
Danelle snapped her whip, the crack echoing as it lashed across the boar’s back.
The boar had already taken several arrows, but its thick hide meant none of them sank in
But that was enough.
very deep.
The arrows were smeared with locoweed. Maybe it didn’t do much to a boar, but with enough poison, it still had some effect.
Sure enough, the boar’s movements slowed considerably.
It knew Leeanne was the real threat, so it ignored everyone else and barreled straight for her.
Just as it lunged at Leeanne, its foot slipped, and with a heavy thud, it crashed right into the trap.
The boar let out an agonized scream.
Those spikes did a number on it.
To deal with the beast, Leeanne and the others had dug the trap extra deep and slathered the spikes with loads of locoweed juice. There was no way the boar was climbing out anytime soon.
It thrashed and howled in the pit, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Rodger was about to jump in and finish it off, but Leeanne stopped him.
The trap was cramped, and those spikes made it way too dangerous.
That boar was tough as nails. It thrashed around in the pit for a few minutes, then let out a deafening roar and leaped out. blood streaming from its wounds and splattering the ground.
As soon as it broke free,át turned tail and bolted.
It sensed something was wrong and was desperate to get away.
“Rodger, go for the kill!” Leeanne yelled.
Rodger lunged forward, his foot slipped, but he slashed his dagger right behind the boar’s ear, hitting its weakest spol.

Blood gushed out in a wild spray.
The boar froze for a moment, then collapsed hard, its legs kicking out in a frenzy.
After a few seconds, it finally lay completely still.

Rodger jumped aside, eyes glued to the boar, his chest rising and falling as he sucked in deep, ragged breaths.
Danelle rushed over, her face glowing with delight. “Did we really do it? Did we just kill that boar? No way, we actually took down a third–rank mutant beast!”
Rodger nodded, his expression even more excited than Danelle’s.
He understood better than anyone just how savage that boar truly was.
Rodger looked down at the dagger in his hand, a hint of reluctance flickering in his eyes.
This dagger had been indispensable in wounding the boar, it was a rare find, a real gem.
He reluctantly handed it back to Leeanne.
Danelle followed suit and gave the whip back as well.
Leeanne stowed her weapons and walked over to the boar. After thinking for a moment, she said, “Who’s got space in their pack? Let’s cut it up here and split it when we get back.”
The other three glanced at each other, and finally Rodger raised his hand. “I got this!”
He made quick work of it.
Danelle was a bit anxious. “Come on, let’s go check out those red fruits!”
The four of them rushed after Danelle, moving quickly.
The deeper they went, the thicker the scrub and trees got. Most of them looked dried out and yellow, and soon they had no choice but to stick to a narrow trail.
Soon enough, they found a bunch of boar hair snagged on the tree bark.
Rodger declared, “This is the boar’s turf. We’re almost there!”
After a few more minutes, a strange–looking tree popped up among the low shrubs.
It was shorter than the others, just about as tall as a person, with clusters of plump, rounded leaves in a fresh, lively green.
Right at the top, there were four bright red fruits.
Each one was about the size of a plum, perfectly round and so red they looked just like little rubies.
Leeanne got it instantly. She felt that it was no wonder Danelle couldn’t help but be drawn to these fruits
They were practically screaming for attention.
There was a subtle hint of fragrance in the air.
Danelle was practically bouncing with excitement. “Look at that. Tell me this isn’t a real treasure!

Rodger nodded eagerly. “No doubt about it, this is a jackpot, a real big one!”
The three of them turned to Leeanne. “Leeanne, you should pick them!”
Everyone instinctively let Leeanne take the lead.
Not wanting to tempt fate, Leeanne stepped up right away and carefully picked all four fruits.

Leeanne turned around, filled everyone in, and gave each of them a fruit.
Once everyone had their fruit, she crouched down and dragged a wooden box out from under the red spirit fruit tree. She’d already noticed it when she was picking the fruit.
The beasts on this island really knew how to play fair. Every time they took one down, they would get a bonus box. Danelle’s eyes widened. “Whoa, a treasure chest!”
She rubbed her hands together, practically bouncing with excitement. “Let me do it. I’m always the lucky one!” Rodger protested, “Hold up, let me. My luck’s not bad either!”
William, who rarely spoke up, added. “Hey, I could give it a shot too!”
Leeanne was at a loss for words.
She knew all three of them had pretty good luck, otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to collect so much loot.
But honestly, none of them could hold a candle to her luck.
After all, she was rocking Maximum Luck.
Leeanne said, “Let me take care of it.”
She turned to look at the other three.
Rodger and William nodded firmly, showing they had no objections.
