Chapter 90
019
Emmett was pretty sharp. While Jocelyn, Hale, and Leeanne were fighting, he quietly slipped over and untied Camelia.
Jocelyn and Hale had their backs to Camelia and didn’t notice, but Leeanne saw everything.
Hale had arrows lodged in both arms, and an iron arrow had pierced straight through his palm. The pain was so unbearable His face turned ghostly pale as he forced himself to stand, gritting his teeth.
Jocelyn scrambled up as well, rushing over to steady Hale’s arm. “Hale, are you okay?” she asked, her voice full of worry.
Hale spun around and, without warning, crushed a card in his fist.
Mist erupted all around, instantly shrouding Hale and Jocelyn from sight.
Emmett yelled, “Did they just escape?”
“No way they’re getting out of here,” Leeanne sneered. “They’re as good as dead!”
They’re both completely out of commission. How far could they possibly run? Of all the directions, the dense forest ahead is their only option. In such a short time, that’s where they must have gone,‘ Leeanne thought.
Before, Hale and Jocelyn never had the intention to kill Leeanne, and they weren’t even targeting her. So Leeanne had just punished them a bit, not gone for their lives.
But now, after they’d actually tried to kill her, there was no way she’d let them get away.
She tightened her grip on her soft whip and strode off after them.
Jocelyn helped Hale into the thick woods. Hale let out a painful whimper and slumped down onto the ground.
Leeanne’s Arrows had been coated with locoweed, and now the effects were starting to hit. Hale’s arms went numb, and he couldn’t even raise them.
With his arms dead and his palm aching like hell, he could barely move now.
Jocelyn’s heart raced with fear as she saw Hale drenched in blood. “Hale, are you okay? Why are you…”
Hale was also filled with despair.
Just a little while ago, he and Jocelyn stumbled upon a treasure chest. When they opened it, they got lucky, finding an iron bow, some iron arrows, and two healing salves.
They were stoked. Each of them used a healing salve, and just like that, all their wounds were healed
But now, with no healing salve left and Hale’s wounds this bad, infection was certain. It would lead to ulammation and eventually a fever.
He was staring down a path that led only to death.
Jocelyn stared at the wounds in Hale’s arms and palm, and the Arrow buried deep in his flesh. Her face was a pale as a sheet “Hale, does this mean you can’t use your bow anymore?
Hale’s heart skipped a beat. He hurried to reassure her, Jocelyn, Ell recover. Once I’m better, I’ll still be able to shoot”
Jocelyn lowered her gaze, her voice gentle. ‘I know, Hale. Let me pull the Arrow out of you first.

With that, she grabbed the Arrow and yanked it out with all her strength.
Hale gritted his teeth against the pain. Jocelyn, can you help me-

“Okay, I’ll help you, Jocelyn replied, her voice gentle at first, but then it turned cold and ruthless. As she spoke, she drove the Arrow straight into Hale’s chest.
The arrow sank deep, cutting Hale off mid–sentence.
Hale let out a scream, his eyes wide with shock and disbelief as he stared at Jocelyn. “Jocelyn… you…”
Jocelyn’s delicate face was filled with ruthless malice. “Hale, your arms and hands are wrecked. You’ll never shoot a bow again. You’re useless now. And without any healing salve, you’d only die slowly and painfully. I’m just giving you a quick end.”
Agony was written all over Hale’s face. “Jocelyn, after all the times I saved you…”
Jocelyn just spread her hands. There’s nothing I can do. Your injuries are too severe. I can’t save you.
Hale clenched his teeth, regret flashing in his eyes. “If it were Camelia, she would never, ever do something like this!”
ocelyn snorted, got to her feet, and said with irritation, “Geez, you talk way too much. Why aren’t you dead yet? I’m just waiting for your loot to drop already.”
Hale’s anger boiled over. Jocelyn, you’re cold–blooded!”
ocelyn smirked, full of self–satisfaction. “What, did you really think I was some saint like Camelia?”
Hale was taken aback. “I was a fool too… If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have thought of killing anyone or taking Camelia hostage. If I hadn’t done those things, I wouldn’t be wounded like this…”
You’re not just stupid. You’re cruel and dumb,” Leeanne said, walking over at a relaxed pace.
Jocelyn’s face turned pale, and she backed away several steps, terrified.
Leeanne pointed at her. “You, just stay put. Don’t move!”
Jocelyn really froze, not moving an inch.
Camelia and Emmett walked in as well.
When Hale spotted Camelia, a flicker of hope sparked in his chest. “Camelia, save me!”
He crawled forward, leaving a trail of blood behind him, then looked up at Camelia and begged, “Camelia, please help me. I regret it all. I was wrong. I never should’ve teamed up with Jocelyn. Camelia, please, forgive me!”
Camelia gave him a cold stare, saying nothing.
Hale saw a flicker of hope and crawled a bit closer. “Camelia, 1-
Leeanne kicked him with disgust. “Seriously, you bastard, arrow through your heart and you still won’t die.”
[Killed Hale Robertson. Gained 20 points. Pick up his loot?]
Leeanne was stunned.

‘Seriously? Just a little kick and Hale drops dead? That was way too easy, so unsatisfying, she thought. But then again, Hale was already running on fumes. He was barely hanging on. That gentle kick was all it took to finish him off
“Yes,” Leeanne said.
[You’ve acquired 1 iron bow, 6 iron arrows, 2 bottles of bottled water, 2 bread rolls, 200 wood… and I Mist Card.]
[Mist Card: Instantly creates a dense fog to trap enemies. Uses: 1/3.]
‘Oh, so Hale was using the Mist Card earlier,‘ Leeanne thought. This card’s not bad. It could be useful later. At least Hale was good for something.’
Hale had a considerable amount of wood and iron.
Leeanne’s loot haul was pretty sweet.
Jocelyn stared at Leeanne, then at Hale’s lifeless body, her nerves on edge. She hesitated, “Um… Hale’s loot…”
Leeanne gave her a sidelong glance. “Seriously? You’re still after his loot?”
Jocelyn came to her senses and hurriedly waved her hands. “No, I don’t want it.”
Leeanne sneered and snapped her soft whip through the air with a sharp flick.
The soft whip snapped loudly, slicing right past Jocelyn.
“No!” Jocelyn instinctively threw her hands up to shield her face.
“Show me everything you’ve got in your backpack,” Leeanne said coldly. “If you’re hiding anything, I’ll tear your face apart!”
Jocelyn shuddered in fear. “No, don’t do this to me.”
“Take it out!” Leeanne snapped.
“Please, please, I’ll take them out…” Jocelyn was so terrified that she was practically sobbing. She hurriedly dumped everything out of her backpack, tossing it all onto the ground in a panic.
Her stash was mostly wood, iron, food, and bottled water, nothing fancy, but she had a ton of it.
Leeanne glanced at Jocelyn.
Jocelyn was trembling under Leeanne’s gaze, covering her face as she whimpered, “Leeanne, I gave you everything I had. I swear there’s nothing left. Please, spare me… please…”
“Go on, get out of here,” Leeanne said with a cold nod to Jocelyn.
Jocelyn looked like she’d just been granted a miracle, and she turned and stumbled away, desperate to escape.
After Jocelyn had made it about 100 to 130 feet away, Leeanne suddenly raised her hand, drew her bow, and let the Arrow fly with a sharp whoosh.
The arrow slammed into Jocelyn’s upper back with a sickening thud.
Jocelyn collapsed, then shot them a venomous glare over her shoulder. “Leeanne, you… You’re so vicious!”
Leeanne blinked in surprise. “Wait, me? You’re saying I’m the vicious one?”

But she couldn’t get the words out. She grabbed her chest, struggled twice, her eyes rolled back, and that was it. She was gone for good.
