Jessica shook her head with a wry smile. “The first piece of gear was leather armor, and I got it. The second, a short sword. went to another teammate. The third, fourth, and fifth teammates also got their gear one after another. The two from earlier ended up empty–handed.
“Guess that’s why those two were pretty bummed. And as luck would have it, we didn’t get any more gear after that. We even ran into a hunting squad, and they came at us. We fought tooth and nail and managed to drive them off…”
Leeanne asked, “You didn’t chase after them? You just let them walk away?”
Jessica looked a bit uncomfortable. “I… I don’t even kill fish in daily life, so how could I possibly kill someone?”
Emmett pounded his chest in frustration. “Fine, don’t kill them, but at least rough them up and grab all their stuff!”
Jessica lowered her eyes. “I didn’t have time. I hesitated for just a second, and they were already gone.”
Both Emmett and Leeanne fell silent.
“Too bad!” Gideon remarked.
Jessica looked a little embarrassed. After a pause, she said to Leeanne, “Leeanne, I found some healing salve in a chest. I used half of it just now, and there’s still half left. Do you want it?”
‘No, you keep it,” Leeanne said, shaking her head.
She thought, ‘Half a dose of healing salve isn’t much use to me. I’ve got plenty stashed away already!
“Yeah, you’ll need it,” Emmett nodded and added.
He thought, ‘If things keep going like this, Jessica’s bound to get hurt again.’
‘Okay!” Jessica’s cheeks flushed. “Leeanne, thank you. When I get back, I’ll see if there’s anything else I can give you.”
She thought, I owe Leeanne my life. I have to repay her somehow!
Leeanne glanced at Jessica, thinking, ‘Better wait and see if she even makes it back alive. Jessica is pretty much on her own now. Wait, that’s not true. Ronald’s still around!
Ronald had just passed out earlier.
Everyone turned to look at Ronald. He was awake now, sitting quietly not far away, shivering.
He didn’t dare look at Leeanne or Gideon.
Leeanne let out a sigh and said to Jessica, “Just find a safe spot to hide and stay put until the hunt is over
She thought, ‘Seriously, she really shouldn’t come out. This world isn’t for her
“Okay!” Jessica glanced at Ronald, her eyes softening. “At least Ronald’s not like those guys
“But he’s not much help either.” Emmett couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
He thought, ‘Honestly, whenever there’s a fight, he just curls up, and when someone gets killed, he faints right away The only thing he’s good at is eating

Thanks to the healing salve, Jessica’s wound was much better now. She got to her feet and said goodbye to Leeanne and the others.
She really intended to find a place to hide, and before leaving, she even took Ronald with her.
Leeanne, Emmett, and the rest watched Jessica and Ronald vanish into the distance.
Emmett shook his head. “Man, do you think she’ll actually survive?”
Leeanne replied, “Most likely yes.”
She thought, ‘She may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but her luck is absolutely insane.‘
Emmett suddenly frowned, thought for a bit, and elbowed Oliver. “Hey, don’t you think Jessica looks familiar? Like, doesn’t she look just like… You know, the one…”
Gideon shook his head. “Nah, not really!”
Emmett’s eyes popped wide. “Come on, she totally does. I just remembered. Jessica has to be his daughter.”
Gideon replied coolly, “He’s not dumb!”
Emmett cracked up. “Yeah, but his wife? She’s a real dummy.”
Leeanne asked, a bit puzzled, “Who are you guys talking about?”
Emmett grinned. “Some scheming businessman, cold–hearted, a real piece of work! And he’s got a clueless wife and an airheaded daughter. Honestly, he deserves it.”
“Oh. Leeanne didn’t want to get into it.
She’d lingered here long enough. It was about time she headed out to meet up with Rodger and the others.
Leeanne said her goodbyes to Emmett and Oliver, then turned and walked away.
Emmett stared at her back for a while, then suddenly jabbed Gideon with his elbow. “Why didn’t you jump in sooner? Man, if you’d been the one to save Jessica, wouldn’t that have been awesome!”
Gideon frowned. “So what? Would it even matter?”
“Of course it matters!” Emmett grumbled, frustrated. “That guy’s a total scumbag, but he always pays back his debts. If you saved his daughter, he’d shower you with rewards. Dude, you just let another chance slip right through your fingers
Gideon just turned and walked off.
Emmett hurried after him, still muttering, “Seriously, time and again, you always just miss out on the good things. If you’d saved Camelia last time, that Throwing Dagger Blueprint would’ve been yours!
Gideon glanced back. “Bricks are not good enough for you?”
Leeanne decided to head to the rendezvous point.
She’d checked the chat screen and noticed that more and more people were teaming up now, and once they realized the power of numbers, the groups were getting bigger and bigger.

‘Even with my her skills and all my gear, I can’t go it alone. What if I run into a squad of twenty? Sticking close to my teammates is the safest bet, Leeanne thought.
After leaving Emmett and Gideon behind, Leeanne stepped out of the woods and gathered the little lamb into her arms.
The little lamb had been waiting for her the whole time, hadn’t budged an inch.
One look at its sweet, adorable face and Leeanne felt her heart melt.
‘It’s so much more docile than the wild, untamable Little Blue,‘ she thought.
Leeanne scooped up the lamb and gently rubbed its little head. “Let’s go, little lamb, little baa–baa. Hmm, I should give you a name! Your fur is so white, just like snow. How about Snowy? Or maybe Snowy Baa–Baa…”
Leeanne took out a banana and fed it to Snowy.
To her surprise, it munched away happily, loving every bite.
As Leeanne walked along, she played with Snowy, feeling relaxed and carefree.
Suddenly, Danelle pinged her in the Assault Squad group chat. [Leeanne, why are you still so far away from us? Hurry up and get over here. It’s pretty risky being alone right now.]
Rodger jumped in, [I’m almost there, just a few minutes!]
William also said, [I’ll be there in about ten minutes!]
Leeanne checked her map and realized she still had nearly two hours to go.
She got held up several times, and then there was the business of killing monkeys to get bananas and pumpkins. It wasted way too much time.
She rubbed Snowy’s little head and sighed. “Ugh, walking takes forever. This dumb game doesn’t even have any rides. I’d take a horse, anything!”
‘Baa… Snowy bleated, squirming to get down.
“What are you up to? Leeanne set it down, a little worried it might bolt. After all, she was planning to take it back to the raft.
Snowy landed on the ground, shook itself off, and looked up, bleating a few times.
Leeanne immediately noticed its voice sounded different this time.
Before, it was soft and delicate, almost timid. But now, it was a bit louder, and Leeanne could swear there was a touch of intimidation in its bleat.
“That was just weird, she thought Is Snowy about to transform or something? Please don’t end up as wild as Liule Blue
Leeanne quickly scooped Snowy up “Snowy, we’ve got to get going now. Be good, okay?
This time, Snowy didn’t struggle at all
Leeanne carried it and kept walking.
She’d barely taken a few steps when, out of nowhere, a streak of white came racing down the hillside like a bolt of lighting

In a blink, it skidded to a stop right in front of Leeanne.
It was a creature that looked just like a sheep.

It was about the size of a foal, with soft, snow–white fur, long legs, and gentle eyes. But the most striking thing about it was its ears, long and floppy, drooping from its head all the way down to nearly its knees.
Leeanne couldn’t help but glance down and give Snowy’s ears a gentle rub, comparing them to the newcomer’s.
Snowy was still just a little thing, so its ears were only a bit long for now. Leeanne couldn’t tell how they’d look when it got bigger.
“Baa…” The sheep–like creature bleated at Leeanne.
Leeanne thought, ‘Well, that’s that. It’s definitely a sheep.
