Suddenly, Snowy in her arms let out a soft baa.

The black goat stopped in its tracks. When it saw Snowy’s head pop out from Leeanne’s arms, it froze for a second, then spun around and took off.

It dashed off faster than a rabbit, and even Leeanne’s whip couldn’t keep up.

Leeanne was momentarily stunned.

She glanced down at Snowy and muttered, So, even the black ram falls under your authority?

You’ve got quite the range of influence, huh?Leeanne thought.

Still, she couldn’t help but want to kill that black goat for some points.

Snowy nuzzled her hand, looking all cute. Leeanne couldn’t resist and pulled out two strawberries from her backpack to feed Snowy.

I want some too.Little Blue suddenly swooped down from the sky.

Where the hell have you been?Leeanne snapped, her anger flaring up the moment she saw it. It had been missing for over two hours again.

This guy is like a phantom, here one moment and gone the next,’ Leeanne grumbled to herself.

Little Blue could tell Leeanne was pissed, so it quickly swooped down and clumsily rubbed its neck against her. I couldn’t find you.

Don’t wander off so far next time!Leeanne grumbled, giving it a gentle shove. But when she saw its messy feathers and remembered how it had almost lost all its feathers attacking Quinn, her anger melted away. She handed it a few strawberries.

Little Blue ate a few strawberries and finally calmed down, but it couldn’t take its eyes off Snowy.

It stared at Snowy with an intense, almost obsessive gaze.

Mimicking Snowy’s behavior, it nuzzled Leeanne’s hand and softly asked, Roast it?

What?Leeanne didn’t get it at first, but when she saw Snowy about to freak out again, it finally clicked.

She held Snowy down, gave Little Blue a light smack on the head, and snapped, Roast what? If you keep this up, you’ll be the one on the spit!

Ugh, this is so annoying, Leeanne thought. Little Blue must’ve picked up that roasting nonsense from Emmett. Now, every time it spots Snowy, it asks me if we should roast it!

Little Blue settled down for now.

Only then did Leeanne have a chance to check the Assault Squad’s group chat.

Rodger and Danelle had already shaken off the danger and escaped the swarm of bats. William had taken down a leopard.

and none of them were hurt.

Plus, they were all pretty close to each other and had already regrouped.

Rodger said seriously, The beasts are suddenly everywhere tonight. More than one person’s in trouble. Looks like a lot of people are gonna die again.

Danelle sighed. Yeah, check the Local Chat. It’s a total bloodbath!

Leeanne pulled up the Local Chat, and sure enough, it was filled with desperate cries.

Waaah, a huge magpie got into the tree hole and tried to peck me out. It’s massive, even bigger than an eagle. I barely managed to escape, but it’s pitch black everywhere, and I can hear wolves howling. What do I do now?

Phew, I ran into a monkey, and it smashed my leg with a rock. I’m screwed!

I’m okay, hiding behind a big rock, hardly daring to breatheOh no, there’s a wolf!

Everyone, you gotta keep it together. Most of us got weapons during the day, so pick them up and fight. Otherwise, we’re toast!

A bunch of huge rats showed up, and they were pretty vicious, but I took them down.

Leeanne closed the Local Chat.

The speeches from everyone were quite similar, as all had encountered dangers to varying extents. Those with better luck faced lowerlevel beasts, managed to escape, or even earned points by killing them. The less fortunate ended up with broken limbs or, worse, lost their lives.

ManLeeanne just let out a long, helpless sigh. What’s the point of those people killing each other during the day? In the end, they’re just going to end up as food for the wild beasts.

It was pitch black out, so Leeanne grabbed a dry branch, lit it with her lighter, and used it as a makeshift torch to light her

way.

She hadn’t gone far when she bumped right into Rodger, Danelle, and William. They were specifically looking for her.

With it so dark out, there was no way to scavenge for supplies, so the three of them decided to head into the woods and start chopping wood.

Wood was good stuff. They could use it to expand their raft.

Rodger chopped firewood and built a campfire. After that, none of them ran into any wild animals.

None of them wanted to go looking for trouble. In the dark, their eyes couldn’t see a thing, but most beasts had night vision. Hunting these beats at night was asking for trouble. They’d be totally on the defensive.

Even if they could win, what if they got hurt in the process?

It just wasn’t worth it.

They quietly chopped wood, but the chat channel was anything but calm. A lot of people were getting killed by wild animals

In just two hours, the number of people in District 33 dropped from over sixty thousand to just over fiftyfive thousand Another five or six thousand had died.

The chat was getting more and more depressing, and fewer people were talking

Rodger sighed. Didn’t a lot of people team up? How are so many still getting killed by the beasts?

Leeanne replied, Because it’s night

Night was when the beasts had the upper hand. It was their best chance to strike.

Besides, even though a lot of people had teamed up, there were still plenty of loners out there.

Leeanne didn’t dwell on it any longer. She glanced at her watch. It was almost nine o’clock, time for her treasure hunt.

Using an excuse to slip away. Leeanne put some distance between herself and the others. She pulled out her Treasure- Secking Orb and waited quietly.

Suddenly, the chat window forced itself open in front of everyone, and a game announcement flashed across the screen.

[Announcement: At 9 PM, the sea level will rise, and the island will shrink to just onetenth of its original size. Because of this, all players will be teleported again!]

A prompt instantly appeared in front of Leeanne. [3, 2, 1Teleporting now!]

Even though the game announcement counted down, everyone barely had a second to react.

In a flash. Leeanne scooped up Snowy with one arm and pulled Little Blue close with the other, just in time as the countdown hit 1

Teleporting again, who knows where we’ll end up this time, she thought. I have to make sure my two pets come along.

Good thing she had Little Blue and Snowy right next to her. Otherwise, she never would’ve managed to grab them both in time.

Ugh, this stupid game! Leeanne grumbled to herself.

As soon as the countdown hit 1, her head spun, and she found herself in a wide open area.

Under the moonlight, she spotted a few rocks nearby and a small stream not far off.

The stream was bubbling, its surface glowing white in the moonlight, with patches of reeds growing along the banks.

Little Blue shot up into the air, squawking, What the fuck! What the fuck! What kind of crappy place is this?

Leeanne rolled her eyes. Where did it pick this up from again? Maybe Little Blue had spent the whole day flying around. bumping into all sorts of players, overhearing a bunch of conversations, and picking up new slang left and right.

Leeanne felt it always managed to grab the choicest insultsand stash them right in its vocabulary.

Leeanne called out to it, Get down here! This isn’t your first teleport, you know. And tonight, no wandering off. You stay with me!

It’s so dark. What if it runs too far and can’t find its way back?Leeanne thought.

Plus, with only three hours left before they had to leave the island, she needed to keep her two pets by her side.

Sure enough, Little Blue didn’t fly off anymore. It just went over to the stream, washed its wings, and took a few sips of water.

Snowy stayed quietly in Leeanne’s arms the whole time.

Leeanne couldn’t help but give Snowy a gentle rub. So easy to take care of, she thought.

[Leeanne, why are you all the way over there?] Rodger sent her a private message.

Leeanne checked, and sure enough, out of the four of them, she was the only one who got teleported far from the group.

This time, the teleport just moved everyone to random spots on the island.

No need to head over,Leeanne thought, I’m here for treasure hunting anyway!’

In the Assault Squad group chat, Danelle was grumbling, Seriously, what’s the point of this? The hunt’s almost over, and then comes a teleportation. Perfect, now we’re all scattered. I mean, it took us forever to regroup in the first place.”

Rodger said, Heads up, I just saw someone. With the island shrunk, it’s a lot easier to bump into other players now.

That was true. The island was only a tenth of its original size, so the chances of players running into each other were way higher now.

Leeanne gave a cold laugh. Isn’t that exactly what the game wants?

It was all about more runins, more fights, and more bodies.
