The island was getting smaller, so players were way more likely to cross paths.

Each player was teleported separately, forcing them to fight solo.

The whole point was to make the battles even more intense.

Soon enough, the effects of the island shrinking were obvious.

Players were already bumping into each other and fighting like crazy, and the live feed was once again a storm of violence and carnage.

“Yes, Leeanne said.

Suddenly, the Treasure–Seeking Orb burst into brilliant light, slipped from Leeanne’s hand, and floated upward on its own.

Once it left her grasp, its glow dimmed a little, casting a soft orange light as it twirled in lazy circles, then drifted north along the stream.

Leeanne quickly scooped up Snowy and hurried after it, with Little Blue fluttering nearby.

The Treasure–Seeking Orb kept drifting north along the stream, and Leeanne chased after it, never letting u out of sight.

Leeanne noticed the Treasure Seeking Orb always stayed about three feet away from her. When she moved, it moved When she stopped, it stopped and waited for her.

That was a relief. At least she wouldn’t lose it.

After just ten minutes, she bumped into someone, a skinny girl who looked about eighteen or nineteen, digging a hole on the hillside near the stream with an iron shovel.

When the girl saw Leeanne rushing over, she jumped, startled.

She seemed totally oblivious to the Treasure–Seeking Orb. She just kept her eyes on Leeanne, who stared back, confused.

The skinny girl gripped her iron shovel, her hands shaking as she stammered, “You… Don’t come any closer!”

“You can see me?” Leeanne checked the distance between them. Logically, the girl shouldn’t have been able to see her.

‘I can see her because of the Treasure–Seeking Orb’s glow, but what about the girl? Could she see the Treasure–Seeking Orb as well? If so, why hadn’t she once looked at the itorb?

‘After all, a floating, glowing orb would definitely catch anyone’s eye.

The girl trembled, “You… you’re glowing while you walk. Didn’t you notice?”

A person who glows? That’s terrifying. She must be really powerful, the girl thought. ‘Please, please, don’t let her be some kind of killer!‘

She was about to burst into tears.

She just wanted to dig a hole and hide, so she picked a dark spot and tried to be as quiet as possible. But now, someone was walking around with their own light, making it impossible to stay hidden.

“Can’t you see anything else?” Leeanne asked, fiddling with the Treasure–Seeking Orb.

“What else is there?” The skinny girl’s legs nearly gave out from fear. “Is there… a ghost?”

Seeing that the girl didn’t even look at the orb, Leeanne felt a wave of relief wash over her.

With the Treasure–Seeking Orb lighting the way. Leeanne could barely make out what looked like a hidden underground chamber down below.

She had no clue how deep it actually was
