Chapter 22: What to do

Melody and Luca were both seated in the throne room. It was set up similar to a human court room with the king and queen’s throne at the front, where the judge would normally sit. One half was set up for one party, and the other party would be set up on the other side.

There was a deep navy blue rug that ran down the entire aisle of the room. Riley and Kai both entered and came to stand near the thrones like guards, and once all parties were settled in the room… Raven, Ambrose, and Alistar would stand at the back of the room. As all of them were of alpha blood and great fighters. It reduced the number of warriors that were normally needed for trials like this.

Luca took his wife’s hand and kissed her knuckles. “Do not fret too much, my love. Everything will be alright.” He said to soothe her worries. Melody looked at her mate with a sad smile. “She is beautiful… but …” Melody could not finish her thoughts. Saying them would make everything more real, but some matters

needed to be attended to first.

“I know, love. I know.” He said. They always knew this day would come sooner or later, but how does one prepare to come face to face with the child that you felt like you failed? “Let us get this drama with the Moonlight Rose pack over with first, and then we will talk about how to handle Karisma’s situation. Jeremiah will be home either late tonight or early tomorrow morning, and Sabrina is already here waiting for when we are ready for her.” Luca said.

Melody nodded. She saw how much love and care Alpha Philip and his ranked members and their children showered Karisma with. It makes her heart hurt that she could not be more open right now, but the last thing she would want is to harm the child even more. After this trial, she will need to have a sit–down with Alpha Philip and Luna Elsa. This was something that would need to be handled carefully for all involved.

The doors opened, and as if summoned by her mind alone. Alpha Philip, his luna, his son, and his beta’s whole family walked in and sat to her right–hand side. Melody didn’t even know when the beta’s eldest son, Derrick, had arrived. Only Jason and Willow were here at breakfast. ‘He must have arrived with his parents. She thought to herself.

Karisma sat between the luna and the alpha. Luna Elsa lay her head on top of Kairsma’s as she kept her arms wrapped around the child. Alpha Philip was not hesitating to show Karisma affection as well. Holding her hands and rubbing his thumb across her knuckles as if to keep telling her that he was here

and he would not let anything happen to her.

It both soothed and hurt Melody’s heart to see the love and devotion that Alpha Philip and Luna Elsa had for Karisma. Knowing that the one they searched for so long was being protected and loved by others. Once things settle and all our mates are here, we will be more open with our love as well.‘ Artemis said within her mind. ‘The gods would not have brought us back together if something bigger wasn’t

approaching, so be prepared! She added.

Melody knew her wolf’s words to be true. She feels like they were never able to find her because it was not

the time to come home. Now things are falling into place, so everything must be out in the open. The biggest question is, what do the gods have in store for their little princess?

Being pulled from her own thoughts as the doors once again opened. This time, it was Alpha Damian and his ranked members coming in along with their children. Melody herself had sent for their eldest sons to

be here for this trial.

Though she was surprised when they told her that not only would they be there, but they were bringing three others with them. They would soon see how stubborn these people really were, once everything was

brought to light.

Once everyone was seated in the room. Alistar closed and locked the doors. Riley then pushed a button on the wall and nodded towards her brother. Kai then stood straighter as he began to speak. “Now the trail of the conflict between the Moolight Rose pack and the Starlight pack is not in session. Anything said in this room beyond this point until the end of the trial will be recorded both audio and video.” He stated. Looking towards Alpha Philip. “Alpha Philip, you may speak first.”
