Chapter 26: Transfer of Power (Part 1)

Alpha Damian growled as he saw bright red eyes looking down at him. “Your mate is a fucking vampire?!” he snarled. Getting to his knees, he glared up at the she–devil that was wrapped around his son.
Derrick growled out a warning to his father, but Alpha Damian ignored it. “I refuse to accept this! You are to be with a proper wolf mate for a luna… not some blood sucking leech!” Derrick didn’t hesitate. He threw a hard punch into his father’s jaw.
“Continue to talk about my luna like that, and I will rip your throat out. I do not care if you are my father or not. No one will ever disrespect my mate and luna.” he said in a dark and dangerous tone. Victoria laid her hand on Derrick’s arm. “It is alright, love. We knew that your father was not going to be very accepting of
our mating.”
Then she turned towards Alpha Damian. “Though not that it would make a difference, it is too late for us to reject one another. Not that I would allow some alpha to take my true mate from me.” She said as she
lowered the collar on her shirt.
Alpha Damian saw the thin scarring that came from marking one’s mate. Along with the small black tattoo mark of a wolf howling towards the sky while a crescent moon around it. It also had Derrick’s name
written under the picture.
“You marked her?” Alpha Damian growled as he stared at his son. He thought he had taught his son that vampires and other shifters were lower beings compared to werewolves. Derrick gave his father a smug smirk. “Of course I did. I was not going to allow your narrow minded ways to take my mate away from me.
“He said.
“But she is a fucking vampire?!” Alpha Damian roared. Derrick, Ben, and Paul all rolled their eyes. “So what? My beautiful mate, Ruby, here is a werebear, and Paul’s mate, Zoe, is a tiger.” Ben said. “Yet they are all smart and wonderful women, once you get to know them.” Paul added before nuzzling his mate’s neck.
Their marks are also on full display. Beta Park stared at his son like he was a stranger. Ben met his father’s gaze. “I tried to tell you father that this unhealthy obsession with pure bloodlines was going to bite you in the ass. Now you are going to prison, my little sister is going to a juvenile facility and that leaves my
mother all alone.”
Releasing his hold on Ruby, Ben walked up to his father. Getting right in his face. “This is not the fucking dark ages. Grow up and get your head out of your ass. Derrick was smart to tell us to wait until we brought our mates home. You guys would have harassed them until we would be forced to leave our own pack. Because there was no way in hell that we would ever reject our mates.”
Beta Park growled. “You would dirty our blood with filth. You are not the son I raised.” Ben shrugged his shoulders. “No… because you didn’t raised me. Mom did. You were focused on Tessa and look how she turned out, so I am thankful for your lack of attention.” Ben said as he stepped away.

Before, Beta Park could say anything. His mate, Sam, stormed up to him and slapped him as hard as she could. “I am disgusted with you. You are not the man I love… not anymore.” She said with tears in her eyes. Then she turned to her daughter. “And you, young lady, I am very disappointed in you. You will go over there and apologize to Karisma right this second.” She growled.
Tessa looked at her in disbelief. “Mom, you can not be serious? You want me to apologize to that half breed stray?” Sam answered her daughter with a hard slap across her own face. “Her name is Karisma and you will address her as such. Now apologize!” She snarled. Feeling the command cross through her body. Tessa started heading over to Karisma. Beta Park tried to stop her but Sam slapped him once more and snarled at him to keep him silent.
Once Tess was in front of Karisma, she bowed her head in submission. “I am sorry, Karisma.” Tessa gritted
out. Hating that her own mother was making her do this… and in front of members of the Royal Moon
pack.
Karisma looked from Tessa to her Papa. Alpha Philip nodded his head. He trusted Karisma to make the
right call. He raised her to be fair and kind, but not to allow anyone to push her around.
Karisma sighed as she turned to Tessa. “I will accept your apology, Tessa, but I will also inform you that this will be the one and only time. Cross my path with hostility again and I will not be so forgiving.” She
said.
Sam walked over to Karisma herself. “I am sorry as well. Helping my son be prepared for whenever he took over as the next beta, I allowed my mate to spoil our daughter with his ways. I will work to re–educate her so something like this does not happen again.” She said with a bow of her own. Karisma nodded with a smile. She sensed nothing but the truth coming from Tessa’s mother.
Tessa looked up at her mother and glared. “How can you turn on dad like that?” She hissed at her mother. Sam glared at her before she turned to glare at her mate. “Do you want to tell her? Or should I, Park. What have you and Neil done to Chole and me?” She asked, crossing her arms in front of her.
Ben and Paul perked up. “What is she talking about mom?” Paul asked. His mother was a shy woman and not very out spoken. Even to her family she hardly spoke. Chole looked at her son and then her mate, Neil looked from her and then to the floor. His shame showing on his face.
“Our mates made us cut off our families after joining their pack. Mostly because of who our siblings were mated to.” Sam answered for her shy friend. Sam and Chole were the daughters of the former beta and gamma of the Clear Sky pack in Georgia. Their brothers now holding those positions. “You siblings?” Ben asked. “We have aunts and uncles?” Paul added.
Both boys looked at each other with shocked. They knew there mothers were from the same pack, but always thought something horrible happened there as neither one ever took them to visit family. Neil felt his face grow hot under his son’s question. He had been nicer than Park, but still forced her to make the
same choice.
“Yes. I have two brothers and Chole has a brother and two sisters.” Sam said, continuing to glare at her mate. “My eldest brother was mated to a vampire and my other brother was mated to a human. Chole’s

brother is mated to a fairy and her sister is mated to a female werebear.” Sam explained.
Derrick growled as he turned back towards his father. “See what your mind set has done? You made your
best friends force their mates to make that kind of choice. You may not be going to prison with your beta,
father, but you will be learning the error of your ways.” Derrick said.
Melody stepped forward. “I could not agree more.” She said as she stood in front of the room. “Alpha
Damian… you, your beta, and your gamma will all transfer the power and titles of ranked members to your
sons now.” She said in a commanding tone. Alpha Damian growled. “You can not possibly want me to give him power. He mated a fucking vampire. He has lost his mind.” He ranted. Melody looked unamused and
was starting to lose her temper with this stubborn alpha.
“I am also mated to a vampire, Alpha Damian. I see nothing wrong with it. Especially since the current
vampire in front of us is my very own niece that transferred here all the way from Russia.” Melody said as
she looked at the women that the once lost little girl from the forest had become. Victoria smiled as she hugged her mate tighter. She fell in love with werewolves ever since a beautiful snow white wolf found her
and kept her safe and warm until her father had found her.
Victoria used to sleep walk when she was a child, but with medication and family support. It became manageable. Though Melody always thought that she was meant to find Victoria, so that fate would bring
her to Jeremiah.
“So you are just showing favoritism? Is that how the kingdom is being run now?” Alpha Damian ranted. Melody glared at him as she released her alpha aura with full strength. “Do not forget your place, Alpha Damian. Even if Victoria was not my niece, I would support anyone Derrick chose for a mate.” She snarled.
