Chapter 36: What is the Mother Royal
Third Person POV

Jason tapped his foot while studying Jeremiah’s hands. “There is something else that makes them
different.” Jason said. Jeremiah nodded again. “The mother royal is able to share her power with whoever
she takes as a mate and freely gives her blood to.” He said.
Willow gasped. In her studies, she learned that when a vampire shares their blood freely with their mate, it
is something that can only be done with one person, and it was a very intimate thing, as it allows their
mate to use their gifts to an extent. Her mother told her that she had shared blood with her father for their
mate bond to be stronger.
“If Jasper had gotten Karisma when she was a child, he could have groomed her to accept him, and then
he would have the power to rise up against my family.” Elsa and Philip snarled at the thought of some man doing that to their daughter. Jason stood to his feet and slammed his hands on the table.
“Kari would never have accepted that bastard!” He roared. He knew his baby sister. She would have fought tooth and nail to escape that man and come home to them. Jeremiah nodded. He could see that to be
true as he saw how brave and protective his daughter was, even at a young age.
“I know that, which is why he would have resorted to trying to break her.” Jeremiah said. He knew that his daughter being chosen as the mother royal for his kingdom was both a true blessing and a curse. For if anyone other than her true mate were to break her and she freely shared her blood with them, then the whole balance of power would be upset.
Jason and Willow growled. “What do you mean he would have tried to break her?” Philip asked as he held his mate close and inhaled her scent to try to keep himself as calm as possible. Jeremiah shrugged his shoulders. He did not know Jasper personally, but knew that the general was very fond of his time in the
Civil War back in the 1860s.
How the slaves were kept uneducated and beaten into submission. He could only guess what Jasper
would have done to seven–year–old Karisma.
“I did not know Jasper personally, but I do remember he was very fond of the civil war that the humans had among themselves about whites and blacks. I know he enjoyed all the pain and suffering that the
slaves endured back then.” Jeremiah said.
Willow went white. History was her favorite subject, but she was terrified of learning about the brutal details of war. She liked facts and art, but war was unfortunately a big part of history. Willow whimpered
as she thought about all the different kinds of abuse that slaves endured back then.
There were the basics like whipping and restraints, but some of the more cruel things were the sexual assault and mutilation. Some salvers would cut off fingers or toes or even ears of their salves as they were only seen as property back then. They would do anything to break the spirit of the person without
killing them, as that meant they would lose the free labor.
