Chapter 37: Speaking with the Gods

Everything was dark. I felt something soft running through my hair. “Wake up, sweet girl.” a deep but gentle

voice said. I felt relaxed. Protected. Like something inside me knew I was in the safest place I could ever

“Papa.” I mumbled as I opened my eyes slowly, only to squeeze them closed again before blinking them

fast so I could adjust to the bright light. Soon, I saw a very handsome face above me. I soon realized that

my head was in his lap as his hand gently ran through my hair.

I gasped as I sat up fast. Too fast. I instantly felt dizzy and almost fell back down. The beautiful man

chuckled as he guided me back down and placed my head back into his lap. “Relax, sweet girl. You are

safe here. I am not here to cause you any harm.” He said.

I fully took in his appearance. He had tan skin and muscles for days. His hair was past his shoulders, and

he had most of it tied back in a ponytail, though it looked like golden flames were dancing within his

golden hair. His eyes were a deep blue and were filled with love and kindness.

“Where am I?” I asked, looking around to see that I was not in the meeting room. I was looking around us,

and it looked like we were sitting next to some kind of spring. The water was a turquoise color, but I

couldn’t see any fish or anything within it.

“Your physical body is still in the Royal Moon hospital, along with Angela and Winter, but I brought your mind here so we could talk with you.” The man said. “We?” I asked. Then there was a flash of light, and a

beautiful woman with pale skin, long white hair, and deep blue eyes just materialized out of thin air.

My gaze bounced between the man and the woman. They were similar in ways, like their blue eyes. “Are

you siblings?” I asked. They both smiled. “Yes, we are. We have many names, but the ones that I think you would know us by are Selene and Helios.” She said,

I felt my eyes feel like they were going to bug out of my head. “Selene and Helios… as in the Moon Goddess and the Sun God?!” I asked, my voice squeaking a bit. I mean, it is not every dream or reality that you are face–to–face with one god, let alone two. They both laughed as they nodded their heads. “Yes, sweet child. I am the God of the Sun, and this is my little sister, Selene.” Helios said.

“But why am I here?” I asked again. Selene knelt next to Helios and smiled down at me. “We brought you here so that we could ease you into the reality of your destiny. It is such a heavy burden for you, but we know that with your family, friends, and your mate, you will prevail” Selene said

I frowned at that. ‘Heavy burden?‘ I wondered what they meant by that. As it seeing the question on my face, Helios answered. “On the night of your birth, a man had tried to take both you and your elder twin brother to cause your parents pain. He was not able to take your brother and ran with only you through the woods.” He continued to run his fingers through my hair as he spoke.

I tried to remember everything before I blacked out. “Was he the man who threw the baby off the cliff and

into the waterfall?” I asked. Remembering the man in the memory mind share that had thrown a baby off

before my mother picked the baby up and called it by my name.

Helios nodded. “Yes, but thankfully I had someone watching over you, and you were not harmed during the

fall or from the cold water that night.” He said. I looked up at him with even more confusion. I slowly sat

up this time and turned to face them.

“Why would you watch over me?” I asked. I was no one special. Selene came closer and tapped me on the nose. “I do not want to hear negative thoughts about yourself, young lady. You are to be confident and strong. You are a very special hybrid. One that the vampire kingdom needs. What he needs.” She said in a very stern motherly tone.

I gulped and looked over at Helios. He chuckled as he shrugged his shoulders. “Sorry, sweet girl. Selene

has learned to be firmer when her children doubt themselves. I, for one, agree with her. You can not see

what we see because of what happened while you were growing up.” He said.

I frowned more at that. I looked up to the Moon Goddess, waiting for an explanation.

Selene sighed as she dropped to her knees and cupped my face in her hands. “The rogues that found you were supposed to love and protect you until you got older, but because of the spell that happened to your birth mother and the strong royal vampire genes within you… Your vampire side woke up far sooner than anyone thought, and none of us knew that male would go crazy when he found out what you truly were.”

She said.

My birth mother? Royal vampire? “So my rogue parents were not my birth parents at all?” I asked. They both nodded at me. “Then who are my real parents?” I asked. Helios and Selene looked at each other and then back at me. “Sweet girl. I think you know the answer to that question.” Helios said.

I thought back and then remembered how King Luca and King Drake would always watch me whenever they were around. How Queen Melody kept touching me as if to make sure I was real. How King Jeremiah

burst through the courtroom doors to protect me.

“I’m the daughter of the royals?” I asked, not fully believing it. There was never any mention of a missing daughter who was the twin of Prince Gabriel. Selene and Helios both nodded again. “They didn’t want you to be in danger because of your true title, but your parents and your grandparents have always looked for you. It was Helios and I who kept you hidden.” Selene said.

I stiffened at that. Standing to my feet, I let loose my rage on their confession. “You kept me from my family? Why?! Was it fun to watch a six–year–old run from the only family she knew?! Was it fun to watch me beg and fight for my life?!” I yelled at them, feeling an incredible aura coming from me. Helios had a sad expression on his face, while Selene kept a calming expression

“We did it so your mate would not go crazy, and to keep you safe” Selene said. I scoffed at that. How the hell was I safe with those people when the man I thought to be my father tried to kill me the moment he knew I was a hybrid?

“Why would I need protection from my own mate?” I asked. Helios stood to his feet, and I could see he

was a good foot taller than Selene. “Because your mate is a dragon. Even though we can not tell you his name, we can tell you that much.” He said.

Dragon? That would mean it was someone from the Raven Moon pack or the Royal Moon pack. They were the only packs with dragon beast humans. ‘Could it be Kai?‘ I wondered to myself. Remembering the

feelings I would get whenever he was around. Then I shook my head. Just because he stirred something

inside me didn’t mean it would be for sure that he was my mate until my birthday in the next week and a
