Chapter 230
Grayson
I was so loud that I managed to get the attention of the few people around. It made me clear my throat, but I wasn’t even embarrassed that I had spoken so loudly. I barely even looked around to apologize because I was so focused on my mother-
in–law
My chest was already in contact with the edge of the table, but I moved forward again, like that would help me lean over more than I had already done just so I could get closer to her face.
She leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms with her lips pursed while watching me. Her eyes were narrowed with disapproval, like I wasn’t supposed to look at her the way that I did at that moment, but after knowing who Tiffany’s biological father was, I just couldn’t help it.
“Are you being serious?” I whispered.
She scoffed. “I came here to tell you about my daughter’s father, not to watch you judge me.”
“What do you expect? I mean…what?” I also leaned back in my seat with a heavy breath, still trying to process it while staring right at her. I barely even blinked. “Why? How?”
She looked like she didn’t care at first, but when I stared at her for so long without saying another word, she leaned forward. placing the palms of her hands on the surface of the table and pushing the menus aside.
“Now, you listen to me.” she whispered, her voice demanding, “I don’t care whatever you think of me right now and I owe you no explanation, but I’ll tell you this, things were very different back then. Got it?”
I shook my head while glancing around, looking at the other tables like they had heard her secret. “If I can feel this way after finding out something like this, imagine what’s going to happen to Tiffany.”
“You better not open your mouth about this.” She pointed at me while still whispering harshly. “If I hear about this. I’ll know that it was you who opened your mouth.” She then rested her back against her chair with a heavy sigh while staring at nothing. “I still want to be the one to tell Tiffany, but it’s not anytime soon. She’s carrying my grandchild.”
‘Who else knows about this?”
She shot me a glare. “That’s none of your business. Isn’t it enough that I’ve told you about who her father is?”
‘Does he know?”
She twisted her lips like she was about to insult me or something, but she paused, pressing her hips together while holding up her fist to hold back whatever she wanted to say.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and when she opened her eyes, she sighed with relet. like a weight bad s lifted off her shoulder.
Then, like nothing had happened, her lips curved into a smile as she said, “I’m actually starving Now I feel like Diame something.”
She picked up the menu off the table, her eyes dragging over everything while lightly shaking her head at everything she didn’t want to have for her meal
I watched her for a few seconds and even her shoulders seemed a httle relaxed, like everything in the world was perfectly fine.

“Hmm, this looks good,” she said more to herself
There was another menu night in front of me, but I didn’t even bother picking it up to check it out and order something for myself. The last thing on my mind was to have something to eat.
It had only been a few minutes since she had looked like the whole world was crashing down because of the secret she wanted to share with me, but at that moment, it was like any other day. Was it that easy for her? I couldn’t imagine myself ordering something to eat right after revealing something like that.
Even though she didn’t want to tell me who else knew about who Tiffany’s father was, I got to be one of the few to know about it, and it was only at that moment that I realized just how I could use that to my advantage. She planned to keep that a secret for as long as Tiffany was pregnant and that meant more than enough time for me to play my cards right. I was so pleased with myself that I couldn’t help but smile for a second while still staring at her.
When she looked up from her menu and her eyes landed on me, she paused and narrowed her eyes when she found me watching her with a blank expression.
“What? Is there something on my face?” she asked.
I looked away as I shook my head. “I was just thinking about how this hasn’t been easy for you.”
My voice was softer, like I greatly sympathized with her.
