I was already 7 PM and I had been keeping a close eye on Anna. She was in the kitchen with me, helping me make dinner that evening.

Even with the apron, her head looked very different from the rest of her outfit. She was dressed like she was home, but her hair was styled like she was ready to go out. It had big and beautiful curls, which she kept checking several times. She obviously wanted the style to last until 10 PM.

On one end of the counter were some tomatoes that she needed to cut. She walked over to the bowl while holding a knife. but she moved past it like it wasn’t even there.

I didn’t even have to wonder where she was going because I already knew. Her phone was in the living room and because hat room was in full view, I got to watch her walk over to her phone, which she had left on the table to charge. She hadn’t even gone to check on the time. Had that been the case, she was going to ask me because I had my phone with me.

‘Damn,” I said to get her attention, “You’ve been checking your phone so much that if it could talk, it would’ve told you to ake it easy. Are you expecting someone to text you or something?” I smiled suggestively.

What?” She scoffed. “Nope.”

she put her phone down like it was nothing, making her way back to the counter while still holding the knife in one hand.

‘Don’t you dare say his name,” she warned me as she reached for the bowl of tomatoes and placed one on the chopping

‘At this point, it’s starting to look like you want to speed up the time so you can go on that date,” I said.

She paused halfway with a heavy sigh. “I can’t, but I really wish I could.”

‘Now that sounds like someone wants to go on a date so badly,” I teased her with a chuckle as I moved closer.

I caught the smile that threatened to be exposed, but she pressed her lips together, managing a small glare. “Shut up.”

I didn’t plan on stopping just yet, so when I was close enough and was standing right next to her, I placed my elbows on the counter while staring at her site profile.

“I’m so happy for you two. You know, Uncle Sebastian used to say that after that divorce, he wasn’t looking for love, but here he is, giving it a try again.”

She glanced at me with raised eyebrows. “He personally told you that?”

“Nope. Ella and Zoey used to crush on him so hard that I told Maddox. He’s the one who mentioned it. You should’ve seen how possessive those two were back then over him. But after meeting the Barclay Twins, they don’t seem to care anymore. And hey, they now have some tough competition because you’re in the picture, right?”

I nudged the side of her arm with my elbow, hoping she’d blush or something, but she just gave me a small smile. It wasn’t even like she was trying not to blush. It looked like she was thinking about something that made her uneasy

“Well, these tomatoes are done now,” she said, moving away from me and approaching the sink

I turned around with crossed arms as I watched her Something had suddenly changed. I tried to tell my self it was nothing but I kept going back to her reaction just a few seconds ago. Did I miss something?

A few minutes before 10 PM, 1 parked my car in Harper’s driveway, unbuckling my seat belt while looking over at my uncle

“Please tell me you remember the plan,” I said to him.

“Of course I remember the plan,” he said confidently. “That’s why I’m dressed to impress.”

I scoffed. “Isn’t it because of Anna?”

He turned serious. “Nope. We have to do this so Harper believes us.”

I sighed in defeat. “Right.”

We both got out at the same time and as we approached the front door, he kept smoothing the lapels of his jacket, like they weren’t yet perfect.

I was just about to comment on it when my attention shifted because the front door had just opened.

I looked over and saw Harper standing there. She was in an oversized shirt, some shorts and her hair was in a messy bun. She had no makeup on, but she still looks so gorgeous to me.

She didn’t even wait for us to get close enough because she was glad I came along despite my busy schedule. At least, that was what I had told her on the phone.

She jumped on me with a giggle and I wrapped my arms around her waist, gently kissing her on the lips.

Because my uncle was right next to me, she pulled away quickly so she could greet him as well.

Then, she quickly looked back at me while still having her arms around my neck and I was still holding her by the waist.

The way she kept smiling while looking at me made my heart flutter and I couldn’t help but point it out.

“Did you miss me that much?” I asked.

She dropped her arms and held my hand as she led the way. “Nope.”

“Ouch. You’re lucky you look pretty tonight,” I said while checking out her thighs.

“Thanks.” She then glanced at my Uncle. “Wait until you see Anna.”

I glanced at my uncle to catch his reaction and I found him with raised eyebrows, like he couldn’t wait to see her.

She led us inside the house and we didn’t even take our seats because we had to leave as soon as possible.

After realizing we were serious about not sitting down, she went upstairs in a hurry.

The way she was so excited about it made me look over at my uncle and say. “Ready to be blown away?”

“No,” he said casually

I chuckled softly, certain that he meant the opposite of what he had just said.

Just a few minutes later, footsteps in the hallway got louder upstairs and we both paid attention to the stairs because we

lready knew that they were coming down.

Harper led the way, keeping Anna hidden for a while, then when she finally moved out of the way by walking down the stairs faster so she could stand next to me. Anna was finally in full view. The moment I saw her, it turned out that my uncle wasn’t the only one who would be blown away.

I had never seen her in a dress before. The few things that were still the same about her was that it was leather and matched with her leather ankle boots. It was also high above her knees and I thought that was what would get my uncle’s attention. but when I glanced over at him, he was looking right at her face. Amused, I looked back at her and found her staring right at him. Their eyes were locked on each other.

I had to clear my throat to get my uncle to move. The moment I did, he blinked a few times and approached her, holding out his hand just as she got to the bottom step.

She looked away but still took his hand, like the eye contact had become too much for her and I had to hold in my laugh because I never thought I’d see her like that. Right beside me, Harper had covered her mouth, like she was also holding in her reaction. But the eyes gave it away just how much she enjoyed the scene. She was so happy for her sister. If only she

new what the real plan was.

Harper was right when she said I’d be blown away,” my uncle finally said, his voice low like he was still taking in Anna’s ›utfit that night. “You look beautiful.”

She tucked her hair behind her ear while still looking to the side and trying so hard not to smile. “Thanks. We should go 10w.”

He nodded immediately and led the way while still holding her hand, like he couldn’t wait to get outside.

Harper and I looked on as he opened the door for her and they stepped out together, closing it like they didn’t want us to see hem walking to the car.
