Chapter 248
Harper
It was a few minutes after Ella and Zoey had left and I looked around at the living room floor, thinking about the mess I had to clean up. We enjoyed a lot of pizza and sodas together, something we hadn’t done in a while.
If not for the birthday party tomorrow and Maddox coming to pick me up, they would’ve slept over at my place
I had several scenarios in my head of how Maddox would look when getting out of the car, how I’d melt against his lipsy how I’d hold him tight like I didn’t want to let go because I loved having him around. I had to gently slap thy cheek pusto I’d snap out of it.
I was just about to start cleaning up when I received a message from Anna. From the notifications, I could see that it was video icon. It made me laugh because I thought she wanted me to see her workplace or something.
But when I opened our message thread, that was instantly ruled out because before I even played the video, the frame I was looking at was of Veronica and I could see reporters surrounding her along with her security.
I clicked on it because I didn’t want to keep guessing what was going on in the video. It turned out to be a compilation of people constantly asking her how she felt about me showing up out of nowhere as my father’s first daughter.
The same video also had what seemed to be recent clips of her looking sad and that just made me laugh while shaking my head. I didn’t believe it for a second because I had talked to her a few times over the phone. The topic always made it clear that she kept hoping that I’d just go away, but that didn’t happen. She’d warned me before that I left her no choice. Was that actually her plan?
It was so ridiculous to me that I immediately dialed Anna’s number, pacing back–and–forth while I waited for her to pick up. As soon as she did, she already sounded like she was more pissed off about that than I was.
“Did you see that shit? Can you believe her?” she said from the other end of the line.
I sighed. “She really warned me that she would do something about all this, but I don’t care.”
“You know what? I think she actually paid whoever made this fucking video.“.
“Whatever the case, she won’t succeed in making me feel awful about everything. She wants to break me to the point where I get a lot of hate or something.”
“But that’s not going to happen because you haven’t done anything wrong/I wonder if your dad has seen this.”
“He obviously has but won’t bother to address it. He knows it will take some time for Veronica to come around so until then, anything is possible with her.”
“Fuck! It made me so mad that I felt like punching the wall!”
“Whoa! It hasn’t gotten to that.” I chuckled with amusement. “You need those knuckles looking pretty enough for tomorrow’s date.”
“Ugh!” I could imagine her rolling her eyes. “It’s not a date. Sebastian and I are just getting to know each other.”
I chuckled. “The two of you already know each other enough and you know that.”
“Even if you’re right about that, what we’re having tomorrow is not a date.”
I look forward to the day when she would just admit that she was going out with him. I had noticed the change for a while but if she wasn’t ready to tell me, then I just needed to wait.
Chapter 218
“Hey, I just want to make sure, one last time. I know the party is tomorrow for your friends boyfriend. You ar rosity toot mad at me that I won’t be able to make it?”
“Come on. I totally understand how you’d feel out of place. Besides, you’re going on a date so
“You know what? I’m not talking to you anymore.”
And with that, she hung up on me, but I just looked at the screen with amusement. It was always fun teasing her when came to Uncle Sebastian.
After putting my phone down on the table, I began cleaning up, but constantly checked the time because Maddox was supposed to arrive soon.
I was just about to finish when I heard the engine of a familiar car outside. I rushed over to the window and caught the moment when his car pulled up into my driveway while the paparazzi went crazy with the pictures. Of course they did. was Maddox and he had just come over to see me.
I was so excited to see him that it was the one time I didn’t care about them constantly taking pictures, so I came out and stood by the doorstep to wait for him there.
As soon as he stepped out of the car in his long sleeved shirt as he had just come from the office, I brought my hands together while they rested on my thigh, my heart beating faster with anticipation. But most of all, I just couldn’t stop smiling so widely even when I pressed my lips together.
