When I came back downstairs, the twins were in the middle of cutting their birthday cake and everyone was gathered around a large table, everyone except Maddox and Harper. I was just in time to catch the moment when he stepped out the front door. He was obviously still following her

That side was pitch black, thanks to the lack of lighting outside. It was only the front of the cottages that had a light source from the lawn lights.

What was strange to me was that the two of them had entered the last cottage, yet the lights were still off, just like they were in the rest of them.

But then, I heard them arguing before I was even close enough to see them.

“So you actually expect me to give you a hug for how I found the two of you?” Maddox yelled.

She sighed with frustration. “I still don’t understand why you followed me here if you’re just going to keep talking about the same thing. I already explained to you what happened. He’s the one who followed me, but that clearly means nothing to you!”

“You’re right. It doesn’t mean shit. I found you right against his lips and you didn’t even look like you were making an effort to push him away. How’s that supposed to make me feel?”

I finally got to that specific cottage and when I looked inside through the window, I couldn’t actually see their faces. I could only make out their silhouettes as they stood by the open door, thanks to the light from the lawp lights.

‘Look,” she sighed, trying to sound a little calmer. “I think I’ve explained myself enough. It wasn’t what it looked like and that’s the truth.”

He scoffed. “I’m not blind. I know what I saw. If I remember clearly, you’re the same person who was saying you had some shit to say to him when you’d see han in person, but I guess not. You just felt like putting your lips on his. Had I arrived just a few few seconds later, would I have him balls deep in you and -“
