Chapter 260: A Student Again

With my laptop against my chest, I hurried to the parking lot so I wouldn’t make Maddox wait any longe had arrived 10 minutes ago, but I still had to finish up in the library.
Northgate Graduate School of Business had a campus so huge that even after a month of going to my lectures, I still wasn’t used to it.
My father wanted to make sure that I was fully prepared for all my duties within the family business. My phone buzzed twice in the pocket of my jeans and I smiled to myself because I knew that was Madd could already imagine his face because that wasn’t the first time I had made him wait.
Every Friday for the past month, he had come to personally pick me up so we could spend time together. I was getting closer to the parking lot when I started approaching a bunch of girls.
Before I even greeted them, they kept glancing at me and then each other with amazement. I first thought was because I was a Beauregard. But when I was walking past them, I heard them playing the Midnight E song. The music video had finally dropped the previous night and everyone was still talking about it. When I turned at the corner and the parking lot came into view, I paused just for a moment when I laid my eyes on Maddox. He was dressed in a white shirt and beige pants. He always stood out when he came on campus while in his golfing outfits.
He was just about to place his phone against his ear, like he was about to call me when he looked up me. I caught the moment when his grumpy mood switched and he smiled while shaking his head. I had a long apology ready as I approached his car.
and:
I had to walk past a lot of students to get to him and I had to act like I wasn’t seeing anything. There were those who were capturing me, those who were capturing him and those who were capturing his limited edit sports car.
I was just glad they always kept their distance, unlike the paparazzi. It was a good thing they weren’t allowe on campus.
“Sorry I’m late!” I said sweetly when I was close enough.
He huffed. “12 minutes late, huh?”
I almost chuckled with amusement but pressed my lips together for a second.
He moved away from the car even though I was already close enough. It was so he could get my laptop from me and place it carefully in the backseat. He’d done that every time he saw me with it.
As soon as I handed it over to him. He gave me a quick kiss on the lips then opened the car door for me on the passenger side.
I got in and buckled my seatbelt, then looked around. Everyone was still aiming their cameras at us. Some of those students were actually from powerful families as well, but not as powerful as Maddox’s family or mine.
Even as he drove off, the students who were along that path made sure to take a quick photo or video.
“Well, I guess it never ends,” he said as he glanced at the guy excitedly taking a video of the sports car while moving around.
I grinned. “How could it possibly end when you show up every Friday with a different car and limited edition?” He smirked. “I can’t help it. What took you so long? Another chapter you needed to catch up on?”
I sighed. “Yup, I’m doing my best so I’m not left behind.”
“The way I see it, you might actually be ahead compared to the others.”
leaned back in my seat a little more. “And that’s exactly what I need ”
I must have sounded so nervous because

expect you to fail, especially Veronica, but you’re going to do great. There are so many who are waiting f your success within the family, so don’t focus on her.”
I forced a laugh. “Well, she doesn’t exactly make it easy for me. I’ve barely interacted with her one on one she finds a way to be the center of attention in the media while still making me look like a villain.“
He chuckled. “But that still doesn’t do shit. Because you have the rest of your family saying great things a you.”
I nodded in agreement. “I just hope that things change sooner than later. I don’t even want to go to my fat estate anymore. I’d rather meet him at my uncle’s place or anywhere else.”
“At this point, you’re better off keeping some distance when it comes to Veronica. Enough about her. I got a new outfit for today’s game at the golf club.”
The way he smirked made me figure out right away that it was just going to be as sexy as the rest. He alw got me some short skirts.
“Ready to play?” he asked.
“Yup. I’m always looking forward to playing with other kinds of balls apart from yours.”
He chuckled. “Never gets old.”
I chuckled with him, then quickly turned serious. “Hey, how long do you think we’ll be at the golf club?”
He furrowed his eyebrows. “A few hours. You’ve always known that. Is everything okay?”
I nodded. “I was just wondering if I could go and see my sister afterwards. It’s been quite some time since I saw her in person.”
“We can stop early today, but only on one condition.”
“What’s that?”
