Chapter 264: When She Saw Me Again
Grayson
It was Tiffany’s first party a month after her miscarriage. I didn’t think it was a good idea, but she didn’t want to take my advice, especially not her mother’s. She wanted to be out in the world again and I still had to play my role. So there we were, moving through the crowd with our arms hooked on that evening at one of the most popular corporate parties
The past two months had been so difficult for me that even in a room full of so many genuine smiles, I was completely faking mine because things had gotten worse.
Tiffany was also able to smile because she had gotten some payback and it was all thanks to Maddox. He had managed to find Josh just a few days after her miscarriage, but he had already gambled all of her money away. He was now locked up and she was going to make sure he got what he deserved for betraying her
It was difficult to hold my head high in the workplace, but I still had to as I needed to attend shareholders meetings and I had other businesses to run. I did it all while knowing that each one of them was still being affected by Fordchem.
Despite all those problems, none of that amounted to anything when it came to my emotions.
I had been so confident that with all the awful things going on with me, Harper would send me even the shortest text just to show me that I still had a place in her mind and heart, but it never happened.
But she had all the time in the world to attend parties organized by her family or events where Maddox was invited. She was clearly living her best life while not giving a fuck about me. I was going through so much that I needed someone to talk to and she was the only one I could see myself talking to. The way I was able to talk to my family about everything that had been going on was so different from how I’d have done it had I been talking to her.
Luckily for me on that evening, I’d get the chance to see her at that party because I had been told earlier that she’d be in attendance with Maddox.
I was constantly on the lookout for either of them, but for him, it was only because I knew that after spotting him, it would mean she was very close.
Tiffany was already mingling with the other guests like she hadn’t lost so much because of Josh.
While she was allowed to have fun at that party, it now got on my nerves whenever she proudly claimed the last name Aldridge like it was hers.
She even left me alone so she’d catch up with someone she hadn’t seen in a while.
She still had no plans of finding out who her biological father was. It must’ve been one of the reasons she constantly avoided talking to her mother. She knew that she would eventually want to know and the answer wouldn’t be so pleasant. I was glad I already knew just how unpleasant it would sound to her, but it was the one thing I could never tell her, especially because I was still in charge of those shares.
I was imagining her reaction to finding out when somebody called out Maddox’s name in excitement. I looked over instantly and spotted him as he walked in.
He was in a burgundy suit that made him stand out, but he wasn’t even my focus. Harper was right next to him and wore a black dress that would’ve looked basic on anyone else, but on her, it looked so elegant.

knew he wasn’t glad to see me, but why was he smiling like that?
He then whispered to Harper, who looked back at me, then rolled her eyes as she whispered back to him. What could they have possibly been talking about?
I actually thought they would avoid coming in my direction, but to my surprise, they came straight to me. I had
to keep my composure so I wouldn’t expose just how excited I was that I could finally be that close to her after more than two months
“Grayson,” Maddox said while nodding
“Maddox,” I responded accordingly.
“I see you finally managed to get Tiffany out of the house,” he said as he looked past my shoulder.
I sighed. “It wasn’t my idea. She’s the one who wanted to come here.”
Suddenly, Harper chimed in. “How is she these days?”
Hearing her voice was bittersweet because I had longed to hear it for a while. And when I did, she wasn’t even asking how I was. I quickly told myself that was still a good start and maybe as the evening went on, we’d be able to talk some more.
It was for this reason that I forced a smile and said, “Honestly, it’s like it never happened. She’s so full of energy and mean.”
“Yup. That definitely sounds like Tiffany,” Maddox added.
“That mean spirit will always be there,” I said, looking at Harper in hopes of keeping the conversation going.
“Babe” Harper turned to Maddox without taking me into consideration.
I clenched my jaw instantly.
“Yes, babe?” He proudly responded while proudly staring at her collarbone.
“I think I just saw Mr Westfield.” She placed her hand on his chest as she looked in a specific direction with so
much excitement.
“No way. Your uncle’s best friend is here?” He seemed just as excited when he looked in the same direction as well
Not only did I feel so lost at that moment. I also felt invisible.
The two of them confirmed within a few seconds that it was Mr Westfield when he looked over and just like that, she personally pulled Maddox along so they could go over to him.
She didn’t even look at me when she walked past me, but the one who did, was Maddox. Our eyes met for just a second and I caught that smirk of satisfaction. He enjoyed every bit of that.
I turned around as they disappeared through the crowd and it made me so angry that he had become the center of attention in her world.
Even when I couldn’t see her anymore, I was still staring. It was only when Tiffany tapped me on the shoulder from behind that I looked away.
“What?” I said with a little irritation.
“Keep that up and you might start drooling over her,” she said while fixing her hair.
“What?”
She crossed her arms. “Don’t play dumb. You think I haven’t been watching you? It’s funny that you actually thought things would turn out differently, but here you are. Looks like she didn’t say anything sweet.”
I cleared my throat. “She did.”
She burst into laughter. “I don’t believe that for one second. That’s just wishful thinking.”
“She was asking how you’ve been these days.”
Her smile faded and she rolled her eyes. “Like i need her fucking concern.”
Chapter 264 When She Saw Me Again
“I never heard you say that about Maddox all the time he sent you flowers.” My head tilted.
She sighed. “That’s different.”
