The last four days were the longest days of my entire life. I kept waiting for updates constantly about Margot and Benja but neither of them had been found.

I didn’t even feel like turning on the TV during that time because I mostly came across the same thing now that everyo knew that Margot was on the run.

I still had work to do, such as contracts to sign, projects to supervise and even upcoming conferences, but just didn’t fe like leaving the house. Everything had come to a standstill. So I did whatever I could while staying home

Even with everything going on. Harper never left my side. When I woke up, she was there. Whenever was able to check few documents on my laptop in the study, she quietly sat nearby with a book or her laptop so she’d keep an eye on me.. times, she didn’t even say anything at all. But her presence was more than enough. She made sure that I didn’t have to c that weight alone.

I had just finished signing online documents when I glanced across my study. There she was, curled up on the sofa while reading something on her laptop.

Every now and then she looked up to check if I was still working before smiling to herself and continuing.

I didn’t talk much during those four days, but I didn’t have to and she understood that.

I was in the middle of signing the last document when I received a call from my uncle.

“Hello?”

“They got her! They arrested her about an hour ago!”

I instantly got out of my seat. “What?”

My reaction was so sudden that it caught Harper’s attention and she immediately came over.

“ilow and where?”

He sighed like whatever he was about to say wasn’t very good news.

“Uncle?”

“So, the thing is, the police couldn’t stop her in time.”

“What do you mean?”

“Benjamin’s dead. It turns out she hired someone to find him. By the time the police tracked her down after somebody tipped them off, it was too late when they got there. She was arrested at the scene. He died before even getting to the hospital.”

I wasn’t able to speak right away Benjamin had made terrible choices and helped to take my mother’s hite That was why he needed to face justice as well, but Margot had other plans I wondered if she knew the consequences of taking his life, or maybe she just didn’t care.

It was only when Harper placed her hand on my shoulder gently that I snapped out of it and responded to my Uncle.

“Have you informed my dad yet?”

“I did, just before I called you I’ll take me a while to get to the police station because I have a long flight ahead of ine But

“Yup. That’s what Tiffany told me “I glanced at my phone with a serious expression just to check how much longer it w take for us to get there.

“I’m glad you’re talking to her. She’s going through so much and now there’s this with her mother.”

“She’s only talking to me because she’s hoping that by getting close, I might develop a soft spot for her. But the truth is | will never happen. She’s done so many awful things that I know she’ll just be after power.”
