Jaxon POV

I’m enjoying my mate. Her body feels fucking fantastic against mine. Her scent and taste are driving me insane. I’m filled with desire to bury myself inside her. Her gasps and little moans were fueling my insanity. I wanted to carry her to the couch and keep exploring her body and right as I was getting ready too, I’m cock blocked by my damn beta.

I could strangle him for ruining that moment. She was so willing and submissive and I wanted to see how her body would squirm under me. When she took that sip of bourbon and closed her eyes, it was a sexy sight. Until she let out that little moan and I saw her tongue peek out and lick her lips. Suddenly, I wanted to taste her and the beast in me wanted to take her and make her mine.

“Alpha, I’m sorry. I should have knocked. You never have anyone in here with you.” Matt said looking contrite.

I give him a deadpan look, “Your timing absolutely sucks.”

“Well, it definitely looks like she forgave you for forgetting her again. That’s a good thing, right?”

“She accepted me as her alpha. She is part of the pack now. I am going to introduce her to everyone in the dining hall during dinner tonight.”

“Hey, that’s great Jaxon!” Matt said slapping my shoulder, “Are you going to complete the mate bond too?”

“No. I’m not marking her yet. I don’t know if I will mark her at all.” I say honestly. Being bound to another woman for her to betray me later still terrifies me. I know that makes me sound like the biggest dick, but I'm seriously afraid I will be played like a fool again.

Matt shakes his head and thin his lips. He is always one to grate my nerves, but it only grates because he isn’t wrong. It’s why I chose him at my beta. “Out with it,” I said, “I know you are dying to say something.”

“You’re the one that has to live with your decisions, Jaxon.” He starts, “I just know, I haven’t met my mate and you are being blessed with a second chance mate. I’m not jealous or anything, but perhaps you need to stop thinking it will be the same situation as before and try to have this with her. Maybe tell her about your past. Sable is innocent, but from everything I have seen and from what you have told me, she’s loyal too.” He said.

I feel bad that I haven't been more aware about Matt and him not finding his mate yet. I'm not the only one going through something, and it's a sombering realization. She definitely seems loyal and truthful, to say the least. “I had a three-way call with Alpha Darius and Crane, to set up a truce, so I can go with Sable to help her move her things here. We will be there in two days by noon.”

“What is so important that you can’t just start over?” Matt said.

“You didn’t see her cottage. Her parents left it to her. All her parents’ memories are there and I told her that I would arrange for her to move them here so she doesn’t lose them. There were pictures and keepsakes everywhere. Dark Flame is all she has ever known.” I respond, “You should have heard Darius and Sable. You’re right when you say she is loyal and truthful.”

I hear howls coming from the southern borders. Shit. “Why are we getting a sudden attack of rogues?” I yell out as we jump the banisters.

Before I realize it, Sable has jumped too. It’s the first time I’m getting a look at her wolf. She is as beautiful as Sable. Drax is practically losing his mind. ‘Focus Drax! Rogues, remember?’

I switch my mind link to Sable, ‘Sable, you don’t have to fight. We got this.’

‘I am sure you do, I’m just quicker.’ She said, running off to the southern border.

‘Sounds like you just issued me a challenge, little mate.’

‘Nope. Stating fact. There is a reason I’m lead warrior…mate.’

She took off running harder and then I see something I never thought I would see. I’m definitely going to need to have a conversation with my mate once this invasion is neutralized.
