“If you want to see me tomorrow, I can try.”

Elina was speechless. “That’s not necessary…”

Afraid he would mention “the bet” again, she cleared her throat. “Tomorrow it is then. I happen to be off.”

After hanging up, she grabbed a quick bite and started packing her few belongings. Her passport booklet fell to her feet. Elina glanced down and realized it needed renewing.

Since she had tomorrow free, she decided to take care of that as well and sent a message to Xenon asking for the address. However, there was no reply.

Guessing he had already gone to bed, Elina focused on her own tasks.

The next morning, she slept in. Just as she finished washing up, her phone vibrated.

“Ms. Ford, I’m here to deliver your keys. Have you packed everything? If so, I brought people with me to help move your things.”

The timing was perfect.

After a quick breakfast, Elina waited for the movers Xenon had arranged. Less than half an hour later, she and her belongings arrived at her new place.

The house was right near the hospital, barely a ten-minute walk away.

The mover handed her the keys politely. “Here’s my card. If you need anything, feel free to call me.”

Elina nodded. After they left, she noticed the card didn’t belong to a moving company-it said “private

butler.”

The spacious house was decorated in a European style, but it wasn’t overly ornate. Instead, it felt warm and simple-the exact kind of home Elina liked. The place was spotless, nowhere close to looking abandoned. It was just that there were no traces of anyone having lived here; everything was brand new.

A message popped up on her phone, “If you’re not comfortable, you can change the locks. I’ve already made an appointment-just tell me when you’re available.”

Elina looked at the screen and suppressed the urge to call him. Though she felt a bit awkward about moving into someone else’s new house, she had already agreed to Xenon’s arrangement. Backing out now would only create unnecessary misunderstandings.

Thinking it through, she replied, “I’m going to renew my passport today. Maybe in a couple of days.”

“Alright. I hope you’ll take good care of the house. When I come to Akardia, dinner’s on me.”

Clearly, it was Elina’s living conditions that had taken a huge leap forward, yet his words made it sound like she was the one at a disadvantage.

Away from that suffocating mansion, even her texts seemed more lively.

Elina didn’t know that when Xenon read her message, he smiled.

“Good night.”

After spending an hour organizing and picking up a few necessities, Elina went to the passport renewing center. By the time she finished everything, it was already 1 p.m.

She hadn’t eaten yet and was wondering what to grab for lunch when someone bumped into her head-on.

“Blind? You dare bump into me… Elina?”

Rubbing her shoulder, Elina frowned and looked up, only to see a familiar roguish grin.

It was Jack’s childhood friend and the current heir to the Novi Group, Ethan Xander.

Although she hadn’t had much contact with Jack’s friends, Ethan’s bad reputation was well known. throughout Harenville

know me?”

“What can I do?” His grin grew nastier. “What could I possibly dare to do? If you get me drunk, climb into my bed, and end up pregnant, wouldn’t I have to marry you?”

Every word he said stabbed into Elina’s heart like a sharp knife, reopening wounds that were just beginning to heal. Ethan dared to speak like this not just because he was a jerk, but also because Jack’s neglect of Elina in public emboldened him.

Her face turned pale instantly. There were many people coming and going outside the office.

Hearing Ethan’s crude words, some turned their heads to look.

He stepped aside but intentionally bumped into her shoulder.

Her belongings fell to the ground, and Ethan quickly picked up her passport before she could react.

“Passport? I thought you were off seducing someone again…”

Before he could finish, Elina snatched the passport back and slapped him hard across the face.
