Chapter 16 Where Is She Going?

“Elina!” The name echoed in the car again.

Jack’s eyes narrowed. “What was she doing there?”

“I don’t know. She was carrying a passport-hey, I’m the one who got slapped, and you’re worried about her?”

Jack said nothing. Ethan grew anxious. “Seriously, Jack, what’s your deal?

“Before Elowyn came back, you wanted her to play the perfect Mrs. Mansor. Fine, I didn’t say anything. But now that Elowyn’s back, why are you still paying attention to Elina? Don’t forget how she got into your bed in the first place.”

A shadow crossed Jack’s face. “Stop the car.”

Howard quickly pulled over.

“Get out,” Jack said coldly.

Ethan stared at him in disbelief. “You’re mad at me over Elina?”

Jack shot him a chilling glance. “If you don’t want your parents to find out about today, don’t make me say it twice.”

Grinding his teeth, Ethan had no choice but to get out. “You’re insane, Jack! Throwing everything away for a worthless woman?”

Before he could finish, Jack’s car sped off. Watching it disappear into traffic, Ethan cursed under his breath.

In the car, the atmosphere was suffocating. Howard checked the rearview mirror a few times but dared not speak.

“Mr. Mansor, the family called today. For Mr. Benjamin’s birthday banquet, he specifically requested you bring your… Ms. Ford. If the hospital refuses to give her leave, he’ll call the director himself.”

Jack opened his eyes. “Inform her. She must attend. And make sure the divorce news doesn’t leak.”

Howard agreed, and the car fell silent again. Jack stared out the window, his brows furrowed.

He remembered hearing about Elina’s past relationship with the Champ family’s heir when she studied in

Akardia.

If he remembered correctly, Xenon was still in Akardia. Is Elina renewing her passport because she plans to

return there?

The thought darkened his face. Even though he had planned to punish her with a cold treatment during the cooling-off period, just imagining her with another man filled him with rage.

She wasn’t even properly divorced yet, and she was already thinking about someone else? The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He wanted to drag her in front of him and demand answers, but his

Back at the company, Jack hadn’t even reached the elevator when Howard rushed up. “Ms. Ford said she has surgery that day. She can’t make it.”

Jack paused, turned on his heel, and left without a word.

Howard hesitated a moment, then followed. Jack got in the car and said flatly, “Watch the company. Call me if anything happens.”

“Yes, but Mr. Mansor, you have a multinational meeting with the Horland at three. Please remember to come back.”

Before Howard finished, Jack had already driven away. It usually took twenty minutes from the Mansor Group to the city hospital, but Jack arrived in ten. Suppressing his anger, he went straight to the dorms and dialed her number.

A cold mechanical voice answered, “Sorry, the number you dialed is currently on another call…”

Another call? Is she talking to Xenon?

Jack stood downstairs, his anger rising with every second.

“You looking for someone?” the security guard asked.

“Which floor is Elina on?” he asked, barely hiding his fury.

“Who are you? What business do you have with Dr. Ford?”

“I’m her husband.”

The guard laughed. “If you’re her husband, you’d know where she lives. Don’t pretend. You look decent enough, why act like a stalker?”

Jack was about to lose it when Jenny came downstairs and spotted him. Recognizing him, Jenny approached cautiously. “Mr. Mansor? Are you looking for Elina?”

She and Elina were close friends, and she knew about the divorce. Jenny became wary, afraid of escalating violence. Thinking quickly, she said, “I can call her for you.”

Jack nodded coldly. “It’s about Jaslyn.”

Jenny retreated into the security booth and dialed Elina.

“You home? Your ex-husband’s here, and he doesn’t look good. Should I stall him?”

“Moving out? Since when?”

“Alright, I’ll say you went grocery shopping. Come quickly. Better he doesn’t know you moved.”

“Also, he says it’s about Jaslyn, but he might be lying.”

Though she kept her voice down, Jack still caught snippets.
