Hearing this, Elina let out a cold laugh. “Now she’s calling me her mother? I thought Elowyn had already taken on that role long ago.”
Jack opened his mouth but before he could speak, Elina continued seriously, “If you have something to say, just say it. You’re not someone who would come to me over such boring matters.”
In her eyes, matters related to Jaslyn were nothing but trivial?
Jack didn’t react immediately. A heavy, complex emotion churned in his chest. He didn’t mention Jaslyn again. Instead, he said coldly, “The day after tomorrow is Grandpa’s birthday. There will be a banquet at the mansion.”
Upon hearing this, a rare flicker of emotion crossed Elina’s usually calm face.
‘I’ll have someone send a gift,” she replied.
You’re coming with me,” Jack said simply. Those short words made Elina feel as if she were back at the villa.
The difference was, back then, she willingly humbled herself for the sake of that so-called ‘family. Now, she no longer tolerated even the slightest injustice.
‘We’re divorced,” she reminded him, her voice firm. She had said this more than once.
The veins on Jack’s forehead bulged as he forced out a reply, “To avoid affecting the Mansor Group’s stock prices, the news of the divorce must not get out for now. More importantly, Grandpa’s health is fragile. He must not be upset, and especially must not find out about this.”
Elina frowned slightly as she looked at him. How could she not understand the veiled threat in his words?
just as she was about to speak, Jack added coldly, “If you can’t cooperate, this marriage won’t end.”
He leaned back in his seat, his posture now relaxed, as if everything had fallen back under his control.
jack was confident that Elina wouldn’t refuse. After all, she owed Grandpa a great debt.
As expected, Elina lowered her head, remaining silent for a moment, before finally nodding. “Only at the Mansor family banquet, I’ll pretend to still be Mrs. Mansor. But I’m doing this for your grandfather, and
no one else.”
Her words clearly displeased Jack. But Elina no longer cared about his emotions. She reached for the door handle. “I’ll attend on my own the day after tomorrow.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a strong hand gripped her wrist tightly. Feeling the warmth from Jack’s palm, Elina instinctively tried to shake him off, but he held on firmly.
She turned around, eyes wide, glaring at Jack with disgust and resistance. “What are you doing?”
Jack’s breathing hitched slightly, confusion flashing in his eyes. He said coldly, “The banquet is important. You can’t embarrass me, or the Mansor family.”

Elina pushed his hand away impatiently. “I know.”

Over the years, whenever Jack initiated physical contact, Elina had always welcomed it with hope and joy. Now, facing the raw rejection in her eyes, Jack felt an unbearable heat surge up his spine, anger rising uncontrollably.
He had come to find Elina today, only to be met with this kind of reaction? The car doors locked with a sharp sound.
Elina realized the door wouldn’t open and turned back, glaring at him. “Unlock the door.”
Jack stared at her coldly. “How long are you planning to keep up this tantrum? I’ll let this slide once. If you apologize, I can take you home. But if you remain stubborn…”
He stopped mid-sentence, his eyes dark with warning.
Elina looked at him calmly. “And what if I don’t?”.
“You know,” Jack sneered, looking away. “What happens to the things I discard.”
It would mean ignoring her existence, or worse, expelling her from Harenville. The Mansor family wasn’t just influential in Harenville-their businesses reached across the country.
Elina knew Jack had the power to follow through. But so what? Her gaze lingered on him briefly before she smiled faintly, her voice light. “Looks like you and Elowyn have plenty to talk about now that she’s back.”
Jack looked at her suspiciously. “What are you trying to say?”
“You’re both equally childish and foolish. Understand now?” Elina’s smile was full of ridicule, her voice dripping with mockery.
Jack’s face darkened instantly, Before he could explode, Elina took out her phone, gritting her teeth. “If you don’t unlock the door, I’ll call the police. Let’s see who really loses if this blows up.”
She had nothing left to lose. But Jack couldn’t afford the scandal. Neither Mansor Group nor the family name could withstand that humiliation. Under her threat, Jack coldly muttered, “You’ll regret this.”
The moment the door unlocked, Elina pushed it open and stumbled out, not willing to stay a second longer.
A security guard helped steady her, asking worriedly, “Are you alright, Dr. Ford? Should we call the police?”
Elina straightened herself, shaking her head. “Thank you, I’m fine.”
By the time she spoke, Jack had already driven off, his tires screeching as he sped away. Passersby admired the car, but Elina knew Jack was furious enough to kill right now.
It no longer had anything to do with her. Before heading home, Elina stopped by a boutique to pick out a dress for the banquet.
As she stepped into the quiet yet upscale Luxe Haven, a shop assistant immediately approached her. This shop wasn’t in a busy district, but it was well-known among those who could afford it. Still, today seemed

“Miss, what kind of dress are you looking for? For what occasion?” Before Elina could reply, she felt the gaze of two other shop assistants nearby.
They smiled warmly at her, but their eyes betrayed something odd.
