Chapter 18 Street Girl

Amy looked at Elina awkwardly, her face stiff. “Sorry, Ms. Ford. I apologize on behalf of my colleague.”

Elina only shook her head calmly. “Show me the dresses first.”

Even though she had never heard words like that before, they stirred no emotion in her heart. Right now, her only thought was to finish here and get home to prepare for tomorrow’s rescheduled surgery.

Amy nodded quickly. “Please take a look at these rooms. I think the colors suit your skin tone well. They’re festive without being too flashy.”

As she was introducing the dresses, laughter suddenly came from the adjacent fitting room.

“Sorry, I forgot there were other customers nearby. I must have disturbed you,” Amy said, hurrying to close the door.

Elina shook her head gently. “It’s fine. I’ll try the two you recommended. I’ll wear-”

Before she finished, the door behind her was suddenly thrown open.

A familiar voice called out, “Sarah, there are so many dresses here, and you’re not showing them to me? When the manager comes, I’ll have to complain.”

Elowyn teased the nearby staff, but when she caught sight of the figure by the fitting room, she paused slightly.

Sarah responded with a smile, “Ms. Ford, these are limited editions. You mentioned this wasn’t an important event, just enough to make an appearance, so I thought you didn’t need to splurge.”.

Each room held dresses of different styles and prices, kept behind glass doors with special equipment to maintain them perfectly until sold.

“What do you mean? You think I can’t afford them?” Elowyn’s expression suddenly changed.

Sarah froze, hurriedly explaining, “No, Ms. Ford-”

Before she could finish, Amy walked out holding two dresses. “Ms. Ford, these are your size. Please try them.”

Elowyn instinctively thought Amy was talking to her, but then saw the dresses being handed to the figure by the door.

She blinked and muttered, “Elina?”

At the sound of her name, Elina only glanced at her briefly before following Amy into the fitting room.

Elowyn frowned and scanned the room. The dresses were stored behind dustproof glass doors, a setup much more upscale than in the other rooms.

Seeing her expression worsen, Sarah quickly said, “Ms. Ford, if you’d like to try them, I’ll bring them for

you now.”

Elowyn glared at her, pointing at several dresses. “I want to try all these!”

Sarah quickly called another staff member to assist. Only then did Elowyn’s mood improve a little.

“Ms. Ford, you have an excellent figure. These dresses were designed based on golden proportions. Many customers loved them but didn’t quite fit,” Amy said sincerely as she helped Elina dress and led her out to

the mirror.

“I didn’t expect to see someone this perfect in real life. You’re so beautiful, even without makeup, just wearing this dress is enough.”

Elina looked in the mirror and found that the vermillion-red dress suited her very well.

She nodded. “Wrap this one up. I won’t try the others.”

Just as she finished speaking, Elowyn walked out from another fitting room, wearing a burgundy off- shoulder gown with a long train.

Her eyes landed on Elina. She paused, then her expression turned mocking and contemptuous, though the jealousy in her eyes couldn’t be hidden.

“Can you even afford it? Do you even know the price at Luxe Haven? You dare to shop here?”

Before Elina could respond, Amy frowned and spoke up, “Are you talking about Ms. Ford?”

“Ms. Ford? Just a burden abandoned by her parents. Elina, just because someone calls you ‘Miss, you think you’re some kind of heiress?”

Elowyn covered her mouth and laughed. “People might think you’re a streetwalker.”

Amy looked angrier than Elina and was about to speak up when Elina held her back with a gentle pull.

Elina turned to Elowyn. “Using studying abroad as an excuse, you disappeared for a few years. Yet you came back even more vulgar, spewing filthy words, cheap as grass.” Her voice was calm, but in the vast room, it echoed faintly.

Compared to Elowyn’s exaggerated tone, Elina’s plain words carried far more weight.

After a brief silence, Elowyn flushed with anger. “Who are you calling cheap?”

Elina only gave a light laugh and turned to reenter the fitting room. Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm tightly. “Elina! How dare you insult me? I’ll kill you!”

Elowyn had always been like this-impulsive, spoiled from a young age. Whenever things didn’t go her way, she used Elina as her punching bag, with their parents indulging her. Even after growing up, Elina chose distance rather than confrontation under their guidance.

Now, with no one to back her up and facing nothing but ridicule, Elowyn completely lost control. Yet before her slap could land, a heavy slap struck her instead.

“Ms. Ford, are you okay?” Amy rushed over, addressing Elina.
