Chapter 20 Breaking Ties
Elowyn leaned against him, feeling an overwhelming sense of security.

Elina laughed coldly out of sheer anger. “You think I care?” She raised an eyebrow and asked, “So, you’re saying that if it wasn’t me but Elowyn who did it, you’d still pay?”
Still furious about what happened two hours ago, Jack nodded without hesitation. “Not a penny less.”
Elowyn was deeply moved, looking up at him with eyes full of affection.
To Elina, the sight was nauseating. “I overheard the clerk telling someone to wipe the surveillance footage,” she said. “But it doesn’t matter. We’ll just wait for the police. Even if they don’t come, I have proof.”
Amy was still tightly clutching a piece of torn fabric, the bloodstains on it long dried.
Anna glanced at Sarah after hearing this. “I’ll make an official statement. Sarah, from now on, you’re no longer part of Luxe Haven. You won’t have access to the company’s legal resources either. Given your behavior, I’ll also pursue legal action. Every penny owed to Ms. Ford must be paid. As for the financial damage caused to the company, you won’t escape that responsibility either.”
Sarah’s legs buckled and she collapsed onto the floor. “Ms. Anna! I-I can explain! I just thought Ms. Elowyn was Mr. Mansor’s woman, so I helped her!”
Before the police even arrived, the truth had already come out. Anna didn’t even spare her a glance and called security over.
Sarah screamed like a madwoman, “I’m willing to testify! It was Ms. Ford who started it! It was her who cursed at the other Ms. Ford first!”
As the security guards dragged her away, she blabbered nonsense, mixing up names so badly no one could
ell which Ford she meant. Yet somehow, everyone upstairs seemed to understand perfectly well.
Anna looked at Jack. “Mr. Mansor, you said earlier that as long as it wasn’t Dr. Ford, you’d pay every penny.”
‘Anna, Elowyn hurried to change the subject, “how can you believe only one side of the story? Aren’t you good friends with Jack? You shouldn’t be asking him for money.” \
What she said was very clever. If it was Elina’s fault, Anna shouldn’t ask Jack to pay. If it wasn’t, since Anna and Jack were friends, she still shouldn’t push him. Every word was meant to shield Jack, yet there was not a trace of guilt or apology in her tone.
Elina couldn’t help but laugh. “So should I ask you for it? Can you afford it? Or will the Ford family pay for you?”
“Elina, don’t be so mean,” Elowyn cried instantly, tears streaming down her face. “I was only here picking a dress for Mr. Benjamin’s birthday. I ran into you by accident. Now it looks like you set this up just to humiliate me.”.
Bringing up Benjamin felt like waving an immunity card.
Jack, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke coldly. “If this is what you want, I’ll take responsibility

for Elowyn. Ms. Anna, name your price.”

A trace of disgust flickered across Anna’s beautiful face. She frowned and gave Jack and Elowyn a cold look. “I don’t want a private settlement anymore. We’ll wait for the police. Given the amount involved, this is a criminal financial case. If I only ask Mr. Mansor for the original price, I’d be getting a raw deal.”
She turned and spoke gently to Elina. “Dr. Ford, why don’t you rest in the lounge? Once the police are done with your statement, I’ll drive you home.”
Her attitude made a complete 180-degree turn. Elowyn stared at Anna, eyes wide with shock. That bitch! When did she get so close to Anna?
Elina shook her head. “No need, Ms. Anna. I still need to pick out a dress. I won’t have time tomorrow.”
“Given what happened today… how about this,” Anna said with a touch of flattery, “I’ll deliver it to you tomorrow. Your dresses were always custom-made at Luxe Haven, all handled by me. I’ll pick out the best one for you.”
Elina thought for a moment, then nodded. “Thank you, Ms. Anna.”
Anna personally accompanied Elina to the lounge, leaving Jack and Elowyn standing awkwardly where they were.
Amy hurried after them, muttering, “Thank goodness Ms. Anna arrived. Otherwise, Ms. Ford would’ve been so wronged.”
Her words floated lightly into Elowyn’s ears. Elowyn clenched her teeth in anger, but before she could say anything, Jack pushed her hand away.
“Call your parents.”
Elowyn blinked, confused. “Why?”
“Anna’s calling the police. If you don’t want to be detained, you’d better have your parents come and beg Elina for forgiveness.”
“What does this have to do with her?” she choked out, panicking. “Jack, you and Anna are so close! If you talk to her, she’ll definitely listen!”
“It’s useless,” Jack said, glancing at the lounge door that was slowly closing. “Elina saved Anna’s mother’s
life.”
Hearing this, Elowyn’s vision went dark. No wonder Anna was treating Elina like royalty, ignoring even the Mansor family’s face.
Elowyn clenched her fists, biting her lip hard to suppress the storm of jealousy inside her. Why does Elina’s life have to be so damn perfect?
Jack had already turned and walked away. That overwhelming feeling of isolation crushed down on her, and she had no choice but to take out her phone and call her parents.
About ten minutes later, Ronald and Rowena arrived with the police and immediately pulled Elina aside.

“What the hell are you doing? How far are you planning to push your sister?” Rowena scolded harshly.
“You’ve already decided to leave and get divorced. What else are you trying to stir up?” Ronald added furiously.
Standing not far away, Jack caught those words and looked over in surprise.
Leave? Was she really planning to leave without even telling him?
