Chapter 23 Leeching off Elina

Finished

Elowyn’s face flushed bright red. She opened her mouth several times but couldn’t get a single word out.

Watching her, the mocking smile on Anna’s lips deepened. “What’s wrong? You’ve gotten so used to acting fragile in front of Jack and your parents that you’ve even forgotten how to argue back? I remember the last time I ran into you…”

Before Anna could finish, Elowyn quickly cut her off, saying, “Anna, I don’t know why you’re suddenly targeting me, but I’ve already apologized. Can’t you just forgive me this once?”

Rowena suddenly grabbed Elowyn’s arm and pulled her toward the door.

“At a time like this, it’s better not to say too much. She’s not even siding with the Mansor family anymore. Let Jack handle it, don’t get yourself caught in the mess.”

Muttering in hushed tones, the Ford family finally left, and the once-bustling second floor fell silent.

Jack stood at the entrance and spoke calmly. “Mr. Moores has been looking to expand into real estate lately. I can help with that.”

Hearing this, Anna let out a cold laugh. “Are you trying to negotiate terms with me?”

Jack neither confirmed nor denied it. “I know you just wanted to stand up for Lina, and now you’ve achieved what you set out to do. You’re smart enough to know how unwise it would be to go against the Mansor family just for Elina.”

“You’re overthinking it,” Anna said lazily, glancing at him. “I did it because I wanted to stand up for Dr. Ford. Unfortunately, she wouldn’t even spare a look for people as low as you.”

Jack narrowed his eyes slightly, and the atmosphere grew tense and dangerous.

Anna remained unimpressed. “Of course, you have your ways to make me kneel and beg. I’m not as resolute as Dr. Ford. This time, I’ll let it go for her sake. But Mr. Mansor, you better remember: from now on, neither Luxe Haven nor any Moores family brand or store will ever welcome Elowyn again. You’d better retract the Mansor family’s privileges. Don’t let that kind of woman use them.”

Though she had agreed to back off, her words genuinely infuriated Jack.

“That kind of woman?” His voice turned cold. “What do you mean by that?”

“A woman who seduced her brother-in-law, humiliated Elina, and thinks she can get away with anything just because her parents spoil her rotten. A leech trying to suck the life out of Elina. Have I made myself clear enough?” Anna’s expression turned just as cold, her eyes locking onto Jack’s without the slightest hint of backing down.

The staff at the entrance hardly dared to breathe. The atmosphere had frozen over once again. Suddenly, the buzzing of a phone broke the tension.

Jack answered. On the other end, it was a teacher from the kindergarten.

“Mr. Mansor, do you have time to pick up Jaslyn? She’s the only child left at school and is crying

uncontrollably, calling for her mom.”

Mom? There was no mom anymore. Jack’s gaze darkened, and he answered coldly, “Tell her I’ll be right there.”

Ending the call, he looked at Anna. “I hope you keep your word.”

“Same to you, Mr. Mansor. My father is new to the real estate business. I’m sure he’ll appreciate some guidance from you.”

Jack said nothing more and hurried off.

Standing by the large glass window on the second floor, Anna watched him drive away, the smirk never leaving her face.

So, Elina and Jack really got divorced? How interesting.

The whole ordeal had completely drained Elina. After getting home, she took a shower, dried her hair, and collapsed onto the couch, unable to move.

Even though she had been through scenes like this so many times before, every time she had to face it again, her body still reacted instinctively, soaking her in a wave of sadness.

Glancing at her phone and seeing the word “Mom” flashing on the screen, Elina hung up without hesitation and blocked the number with a swift, practiced motion. Along with Rowena, she had already deleted and blocked Ronald and Elowyn’s numbers too.

As long as she stayed away from them, everything would be fine. That was what she told herself, even as her arms unconsciously tightened around her legs.
