Chapter 26 Like a Servant
Elina had this confidence purely because of the past few years of brief interactions with them.

Lisa agreed right away. “I’ll listen to you. You still care about Jaslyn after all. She’s just a child, and I really hope you can come home soon.”
At those words, the faint headache on Elina’s face instantly turned cold.
She spoke slowly. “This is only out of the last bit of affection and patience I have left for Jaslyn. From now on, unless it’s a matter of life and death, you don’t need to tell me anything about her. Otherwise, I will hold you accountable. And when that time comes, I won’t go easy on you.”
Hearing Elina’s threat, Lisa sucked in a sharp breath. “I understand.”
After taking care of these matters, Elina let out a long sigh of relief, and even the throbbing in her head cased a little. She needed to go to bed early. After all, she had a tough battle to fight tomorrow night at the Mansor mansion.
At eight in the evening, the Mansor mansion was brightly lit, the house inside shining like daylight.
The invited guests arrived one after another. Noah Mansor and Sabrina Mansor stood at the door to greet them. Everyone who came was someone of status and reputation, and nearly all were elders. No one in the house dared show the slightest disrespect.
Finally, a black Alphard pulled up at the entrance. A man and a woman stepped out, and Sabrina walked over personally, grabbing the woman’s hand and half-scolding her.
“Why are you so late? Didn’t I tell you to take the day off? Go help out now. There are a lot of guests tonight.” Sabrina’s voice, as always, carried a commanding tone that rubbed people the wrong way.
Elina frowned slightly as Sabrina held her hand so intimately, then pulled away.
All around the garden and courtyard, people were standing and chatting, trying to network and socialize. Elina had never liked scenes like this. She gave a small nod and brushed past Jack, heading inside.
She had barely taken a few steps when the man behind her grabbed her fair, slender arm. Feeling the warmth of his fingers against her skin, Elina turned around in confusion. “What is it?”
“You don’t need to do anything. You’re one of the Mansor family’s hostesses.” Jack looked at his mother. “Lina isn’t a maid. It’s bad enough you order her around at home. But today, with so many guests here, do you really want people thinking the Mansor family married a housekeeper?”
Sabrina blinked, a flash of surprise in her eyes. “You… since when did you…”
Elina let out a short laugh, instantly drawing their attention. Jack’s words clearly upset Sabrina, and she turned her displeasure on Elina. She frowned. “What are you laughing at?”
“Oh. nothing. I’m going to check on Mr. Benjamin.” Elina had a faint smile on her lips, but her eyes held unmistakable scorn.

Ever since marrying into the Mansor family, her mother-in-law had never shown her a kind face. She had been criticized for not being able to support the family, for being just a doctor who knew nothing about business and therefore couldn’t help Jack.
Every time she returned to the mansion, Sabrina treated her like a servant. In the past, Elina endured it to maintain
peace. Jack never stood up for her, almost as if he accepted her lowly position in the family. But today, when she wanted to avoid this noisy crowd, Jack actually defended her.
Even if his defense came off arrogant, like some kind of favor, it was something he had never done before. As Elina turned and walked into the house, Sabrina grumbled unhappily. “Jack, look at what a spoiled brat you’ve turned her into.”
Jack said nothing and followed his father to greet the guests. Seeing this, Sabrina’s frown deepened.
But in her mind, she blamed it all on Elina, thinking she had become arrogant because of Jack’s indulgence.
stairs in the master bedroom, Benjamin sat in his wheelchair, holding Jaslyn on his lap while she played with his bow tie.
“Mr. Benjamin.” Elina was led in by a maid.
Hearing her voice, Benjamin looked up, smiling warmly. “You’re back. Jaslyn was just whispering bad things about you to me.”
Jaslyn had been brought back a couple of hours earlier and was now curled up in the old man’s arms, not even glancing at Elina.
