Chapter 27 Spoiled

Jaslyn was startled, staring blankly at Benjamin.

Realizing he had sounded too stern, Benjamin softened his expression and smiled. “Jaslyn, you can’t listen to such nasty things. Anyone who says bad things about your mom is not a good person, understand?”

That’s not true!” Jaslyn slid off his lap, pouting. “Aunt Elowyn isn’t a bad person. Daddy and I like Aunt Elowyn just as much. Does that mean Daddy and I are bad people too?”

As the words left her mouth, Elina’s heart sank. She quickly scolded, “Jaslyn, if you keep saying such nonsense, you’ll make Grandpa upset.”

Jaslyn turned and finally looked at her for the first time. “Mommy is the bad one!”

Elina froze. She never expected that after all these days apart, the first thing Jaslyn would say to her would be something like that. Before she could react, Jaslyn had already run out.

The house staff assigned to watch over the children immediately chased after her.

Benjamin, furious, snapped, “Where’s Jack? Why isn’t he coming to see me? I need to ask him what kind of upbringing he’s giving that child!”

Hearing that, Elina snapped back to reality. She walked over and covered Benjamin’s legs with a blanket.

Jack just arrived. He’s greeting the guests on your behalf first. He’ll be up soon.” She smiled and knelt down beside him. “Jaslyn’s usually very sweet. She’s probably just upset because I’ve been away from home. for a few days.”

Among all the elders in the Mansor family, the only one who never blamed Elina was Benjamin, who wasn’t even related to her by blood. That was why Elina was always genuine with Benjamin, truly grateful for his kindness and warmth over the years.

Benjamin let out a long sigh. “Lina, I know these past years haven’t been easy for you in the Mansor family. It’s not nearly as glamorous as it looks from the outside. I’ve seen it all.”

Elina didn’t want to make him feel worse, and she was also very clear about why she had agreed to come back to the estate tonight with Jack.

She gently took Benjamin’s hand and said sweetly, “Grandpa, you don’t need to worry. I’m actually doing well. Jack treats me just fine, and most importantly, having you be so good to me is more than enough. If things were really as bad as you say, if I were only being bullied, I would’ve left a long time ago.”

Her few simple words coaxed a smile out of Benjamin, and the atmosphere in the room cased a little.

Outside the slightly open door stood Jack. Hearing the conversation inside, he gripped the doorknob tighter. Elina had said similar things before, but they had never moved Jack the way they did now. He frowned slightly. The moment he realized she was lying, his heart twisted painfully.

“Sir, why are you standing out here? It’s just Mr. Benjamin and Mrs. Mansor inside A housekeeper appeared suddenly, pushing open the door with a tray of tea, signaling for Jack to enter

Inside, both Benjamin and Elina looked toward the door. Jack had no choice but to steady his emotions, mask his expression, and walk in. “Grandpa.”

The moment he spoke. Benjamin snorted coldly. “Jaslyn’s a smart kid, and she’s at the age where she picks things up fast. I’m telling you, if you let her be exposed to the wrong influences again, don’t blame me for pulling rank on you.”

Every word carried a warning. Jack walked closer. “Don’t worry, once Lina is back home, Jaslyn won’t act out anymore.”

Elina had already stood up. Hearing his words, she stayed silent. She wasn’t a fool. How could she not catch the meaning behind Jack’s words?

He was telling her that as long as she returned home, Jaslyn would stop siding with Elowyn. If she had heard him say that a week ago, maybe she would’ve hesitated. But tonight, no matter how nicely Jack tried to make it sound, she wouldn’t believe a single word.

Benjamin grumbled in displeasure, “You’re calling Jaslyn spoiled? If it weren’t for the adults around her. how spoiled could she possibly get?”
