Chapter 50 Stop Crying, It’s Just Karma

Elina kicked Elowyn away as she tried to approach; it wasn’t a light kick. Elowyn felt a sharp pain in her knee and widened her eyes, collapsing straight into Jack’s arms.
“Elina, you!”
“Get out!” Elina snapped, her face cold as ice. “Keep pestering me and I’ll call security.”
The goal had already been achieved; there was no way Elowyn would keep pushing her luck now.
Pain shot through her leg, intensifying her hatred for Elina, but this wasn’t the time to fight back.
ack helped Elowyn out, watching as the elevator doors closed. A strange emotion crept over him.
Still dazed, his mind replaying Elina’s decisive kick, he felt the woman in his arms start to cry.
Jack, please don’t blame my sister, okay? I was the one holding her up; I made her late for her ppointments.”
You just wanted her to visit Grandpa. Don’t blame yourself.” Jack snapped out of it and lifted her into his rms. “Enough talking. I’ll get a doctor to check your leg.”
Her pants were stained with blood. Elowyn sobbed, her voice shaking. “It hurts, Jack… my leg hurts so nuch…”
ack’s expression turned stone-cold. “Don’t worry. The doctor’s coming; it’ll be okay.”
When the doctor arrived, Elowyn looked up at Jack through tear-filled eyes. “Jack, can you wait outside? I don’t want you to see the wound on my leg. It looks horrible…”
ack didn’t argue. Seeing her tear-streaked face, his heart softened a little.
He knew Elowyn cared about her appearance, so when she made that request, he stepped out without hesitation.
Once the door closed behind him, she lowered her voice and spoke to the doctor. “It’s an old wound that got reopened from the kick. Will it scar?”
The doctor rolled up her pant leg and frowned, shaking his head. “Hard to say. But don’t worry, I’ll stitch it up as best as I can. Even if there’s a scar, it won’t be too big.”
Tears welled up in Elowyn’s eyes. “Please, doctor, you have to help me. Elina misunderstood my relationship with her husband and kicked me. If word of this gets out, it’ll ruin the hospital’s reputation,
after all, she’s a doctor”
The doctor paused mid-cleaning, stunned. “You mean Dr. Ford from neurology?”
“Yes. She’s my sister. She’s always been jealous of me since we were little-thinks I’m always trying to take
what’s hers…”
She spoke with grievance, gasping from time to time like the pain was unbearable.

The doctor frowned and glanced at her, then silently shook his head.
Elowyn noticed the look but didn’t understand it; she just kept talking.
“It’s actually because she’s been fighting with her husband. She’s not even taking care of their kid anymore I was worried about the child, so I stepped in to help-she misunderstood.”
“You don’t need to explain that to me. I’m a doctor, not the police.”
Elowyn froze for a second, caught off guard, and shut her mouth in disappointment. I thought I could ruin Elina’s reputation a little with this, are all these doctors really that professional?
Even with anesthesia, the stitching process was still intense.
Elowyn bit down hard on her lower lip. By the time the sutures were done, her lip was cracked and bleeding.
“No water. Wear loose pants. Disinfect daily. Come back in a week to get the stitches removed.”
Just as the doctor finished speaking, Jack walked back in.
“How is it? Is the wound serious?”
Worry flickered in his eyes.
