Chapter 59 Oh, Now You Care?

Benjamin continued, “That’s not going to work either. Jaslyn is still part of the Mansor family; even if you can’t keep Lina, Jaslyn can’t grow up without a mother, do you understand?”
The warning in his voice was sharp and serious.
Jack said nothing. Benjamin let out a huff, convinced he was talking to a brick wall.
“Get lost, too. I don’t want to see you. You might as well get divorced and leave me to Lina.”
Jack couldn’t help but let the corner of his mouth twitch into a smile.
“What did you say?”
Benjamin’s face turned red with frustration. “I’m not joking. Let me live with Lina. She’s such a good girl, and you don’t appreciate her. I’ll need to vet her next husband myself.”
Something finally flickered in Jack’s expression.
He frowned slightly. “She’s thinking about getting married again?”
Assuming Elina must have said something to Benjamin, Jack was clearly unhappy.
As soon as the words left his mouth, Benjamin’s expression changed completely.
“What do you mean by that? Why would you care if she’s thinking about marriage? Wait-did you two get divorced?”
Three sharp questions in a row left Jack completely speechless.
Benjamin’s eyes locked onto him like a hawk.
“No, you’re overthinking it. We already have Jaslyn-there’s no way we’re getting divorced.”
With that, Jack glanced at the time.
“You should rest. I’ll bring Jaslyn to visit you this afternoon.”
He turned away, avoiding Benjamin’s gaze.
Despite how short the visit had been, Benjamin didn’t try to stop him from leaving; he simply offered one last, heartfelt piece of advice.
“Lina’s not as strong as she seems, Jack. You’re my grandson-I know you. If you really don’t want to lose her, you’d better be the one to back down first.”
Jack paused for a moment, gave a half-hearted grunt in response, and walked off.
He had originally wanted to keep the divorce a secret to spare Benjamin any unnecessary worry, but it was obvious now that the old man had already sensed something was wrong.

Chapter 59 Oh, Now You Care?
e Finished
After leaving the hospital room, Jack didn’t head out of the building. Instead, he went looking for Elina.
She had been gone from the house for quite a while now. Jack didn’t want to admit it, but he couldn’t deny it either, he wasn’t used to coming home and not seeing her there.
“I heard the director’s already booking Dr. Ford’s plane ticket. She’s set to leave next month.”
“That’s amazing! Dr. Ford is so talented. This opportunity to study abroad is going to take her career to the next level.”
The voices of two passing nurses reached Jack’s ears. The first person who came to mind was Elina.
Even if there were other doctors named Ford at the hospital, none of them mattered.
Just as he was about to ask, the two nurses turned a corner and entered a patient’s room.
Jack’s gaze darkened slightly; he went upstairs and found Elina’s office.
There weren’t many patients that afternoon. He waited outside until the last one left before stepping in.
“Where does it hurt?”
Without looking up, Elina spoke as she scanned the medical chart in front of her, reacting only to the sound of the door opening and closing.
Click. The door locked behind him. Only then did she lift her eyes and glance at the visitor.
“Jack,” she said, frowning slightly. “What are you doing here?”
Her office wasn’t like the waiting area. If an emergency came in, even a second’s delay could be life- threatening.
She stood up, clearly displeased, and walked over to open the door.
But just as her hand touched the doorknob, Jack’s cold voice came from behind her.
“You’re going abroad?”
Elina froze, not answering right away.
The room went dead silent-so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Jack turned to face her back, his voice laced with accusation. “Where? When? How long? Why didn’t you tell me?”
The rapid-fire questions landed like stones dropped into a still pond-but drew no reaction,
Elina pressed her lips together. She had thought long and hard about this and decided there was no need to hide it from Jack.
“I…”
Before she could say anything, her phone rang loudly, cutting her off.
