The Kid's New Mommy Wish: Daddy Said Yes novel Chapter 64

Chapter 64 Careful, There’s Glass Everywhere

Finished

Just as Lisa finished cleaning the used glasses on the counter and was about to head back to her room, she heard footsteps coming down the stairs again.

“Pour me a glass of whiskey. No ice.”

Elowyn stood outside the counter, resting her chin on one hand, eyeing Lisa with thinly veiled suspicion.

Lisa glanced at her. She didn’t care for the woman, but as a guest of the employer, she complied without

protest.

She set the glass down in front of Elowyn; a strong scent of alcohol mixed with rich malt rose instantly into the air, almost dizzying in its intensity.

Just the smell alone made her feel flushed from head to toe.

And this was the highest-end brand.

Lisa left the kitchen with a polite reminder, “Ms. Elowyn, when you’re done, just leave the glass in the sink.”

“You’re leaving already? What if I want another one later?” Elowyn leaned against the counter with the glass in hand, calling her back.

Lisa turned around, forcing patience into her voice. “You can pour it yourself, unless Mr. Mansor minds you drinking the whiskey Madam bought. If he doesn’t, you’re welcome to finish the whole bottle.”

At that, Elowyn glanced at her drink, then suddenly smirked.

She let go of the glass; it fell and shattered across the floor.

Lisa froze for a moment, then frowned. “If you don’t want to drink it, that’s fine-but there’s no need to waste it. Madam picked out that glass herself. It wasn’t cheap.”

“You think I’m short on cash? And anyway, you think Elina actually has an eye for expensive things?”

Elowyn’s voice held laughter-but it was pure mockery.

Lisa ignored her and went to fetch a broom, carefully sweeping up the shards.

There was a child in the house, after all-this kind of detail couldn’t be overlooked.

But Elowyn stepped in front of her, blocking the way. “Don’t play dumb. Tell me what did you just say to Jack?”

Lisa met her gaze, her expression darkening. “I’m not obligated to tell you anything.”

“So you did tattle?” Elowyn gave a cold snort. “You told Jack I was the one who sent you home? Tried to make him think I was the reason Jaslyn nearly ended up in critical condition?”

Lisa stared at her with an odd expression. “I didn’t say that. Are you worried because it’s true?”

“What nonsense are you spouting? What do I have to be guilty about? You’d better watch yourself. Just because Jack needs you to take care of Jaslyn right now doesn’t mean you’ll have a permanent place in the Mansor family.”

Elowyn gritted her teeth, lifting her chin with smug superiority.

She carried herself like she was the lady of the house.

Lisa couldn’t stand that about her-using underhanded tricks to drive out Jack’s real wife, then strutting around like she owned the place.

“Ms. Elowyn, that’s out of line. The lady of this house is Ms. Ford. That’s the only name I recognize, and it’s definitely not yours.”

Elowyn’s smug smile faltered; her expression shifted to one of injured innocence.

“You’ve misunderstood. I’m only here to look after Jaslyn-nothing more. I never meant to replace my sister. It’s just Jaslyn had such a rough day, and there was no one else to care for her. My heart just broke for her…”

Lisa was caught off guard by the sudden change in tone; before she could respond, a cold voice came from behind her.

“Elina’s gone. There’s no place for her in this house. If you want to follow her, you can leave anytime.”

Neither of them had realized when Jack had come upstairs.
