The Kid's New Mommy Wish: Daddy Said Yes novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65 Better Get Used to Her

“As for Elowyn, she’ll be staying at the villa often from now on. You’d better get used to it.”

Jack’s voice was clipped, commanding. Lisa instantly felt a wave of injustice.

But it wasn’t for herself, it was for Elina.

Elina had always treated her well; she genuinely cared about Jaslyn too.

If that woman ended up living at the villa long-term, actually becoming the child’s stepmother, no one could say what kind of accidents might happen.

Even if it was just for Elina’s sake, Lisa would stay and look after Jaslyn properly; she wouldn’t leave so easily.

She lowered her head and said, “I’m sorry, sir. It won’t happen again.”

But Jack wouldn’t let it go. “I’m not the one you should be apologizing to.”

Lisa hesitated, then forced herself to say, “I’m sorry, Ms. Elowyn. I hope you can let this go.”

Elowyn looked down at her submissive posture, her lips curling into a satisfied smile. Her heart swelled with victory.

“It’s alright, Lisa. I hope you’ll work with me moving forward so we can take good care of Jaslyn together.”

Lisa pressed her lips together and gave her a silent nod.

Jack took Elowyn upstairs. After cleaning up the broken glass, Lisa couldn’t hold it in any longer, she returned to her room and sent Elina a message.

She recounted everything that had just happened and added her own hope. If Mrs. Mansor could come back, everything would be alright again.

Elina didn’t see the message until the next morning,

She read it without a single change in expression; inside, she felt nothing at all.

In twenty more days, the divorce would be finalized. She could leave this place, escape from all these petty, exhausting problems.

She had the day off, but after breakfast the hospital contacted her and asked her to come in.

That rarely happened on her days off; concerned that it might be something patient-related, she didn’t delay and went straight in.

The hospital director met her at the entrance and took her to the office.

“I thought this was about a patient?”

The director shook his head. “No, this time it’s a hospital matter.”

Elina tensed slightly. “What’s going on?”

“Don’t worry,” the director said with a smile. “It’s nothing bad. The research department is running low on funding. Recently, a private company expressed interest in investing, so I wanted to talk to you about it.”

She let out a quiet breath. “That’s a relief. But I’ve never been involved in hospital finances-I’m not sure what help I can offer.”

“You can help a lot!” he said eagerly, pulling a file from his desk and handing it to her. “This is a proposal from Mansor Group.”

She hadn’t even opened the file yet, but the moment she heard the words Mansor Group, her entire body stiffened.

She looked up at him. “Mansor Group? As far as I know, they haven’t been involved in healthcare.”

“Exactly, that’s why I’m saying their sudden interest must be because of you.”

The director had no idea about the divorce. Even if he’d heard a few rumors, he hadn’t paid them any attention.

He believed that if something that significant had happened, Elina would’ve told him.

Elina pressed her lips together. Seeing the joy on his face, her instinct to tell the truth weakened.

She had heard from the interns that the research team was struggling with budget issues.

Even though the hospital was public, applying for government funding required layers of bureaucracy, and even then, approval wasn’t guaranteed.

If they could secure private investment, that would be a good thing.

The director had been visibly anxious about this for some time; Elina knew that, too.

Now that there was a solution on the table, she couldn’t bring herself to crush his hopes, no matter how much she wanted to sever ties with the Mansor family.

After a moment of inner struggle, she kept the truth to herself.

“What do you need me to do?”

“Mansor Group would like you to provide some professional insight and proposals for their medical team,” the director explained, praising her as he spoke.

“It shouldn’t be hard for you, you’ve mentored quite a few outstanding interns, haven’t you?”

Elina looked at the smile on his face but couldn’t bring herself to smile back.
